Tony's Di Napoli – Upper East Side. Ratings and Reviews
Tony Dinapoli’s has been my favorite restaurant for so many years. I have a home in NYC and PA, and I have to make a reservation when I’m with my family in the city. You can’t beat the price, the sesame seed bread, and the food is really delicious. If you love shrimp parmigiana, then look no further...this is the real deal! This restaurant will always be apart of my life!🍷
AMAZING! This would be our second time here and I think it keeps getting better. We ordered the Alfredo with Penne for our son and it was the best Alfredo I have ever had. Service was very, very good. Will definitely return during our next visit to New York.
Me and my husband love this restaurant. We spent the weekend in the city with two other couples and made reservations for a late lunch. It was the first time my friends had been to the restaurant and they all loved it! The food was excellent and the waiter was fantastic. They definitely have 4 more people coming back!
Ive been going there for xmas time every year for a decade. This was the worst experience. I made a reservation 2 months in advance for seating downstairs. I called 45 minutes before i went and i was told they have my table downstairs ready. I showed up 15 minutes early and was told they were getting the table ready. I waited 35 minutes more and was seated upstairs same thing happened last year. I was told i could keep waiting for a table downstairs. But it was already getting frustrating so wr followed tje guy upstairs and he sits us right next to the door. So now everyone that comes in and out not only hits in to me i alsp have them reaching over our table to hang there coats because it was also the coat section. I talked to the guy that sat us down i think an owner and he kind of made it seem like he was doing me a favor to get me seated even though i had a reservation. Needless to say reservation dont hold any weight over there since people come right off the street say hi and get better treatment. Good news is they excepted my cash payment right away.
This was the first time eating at this location. I have been to the Times Square locations several times. The Upper East Side location seem to be much larger, with more room in between tables. We started with the Calamari were was very tender and cooked to perfection. Next we shared a salad and it was also excellent. Our next course was a platter of linguine with seafood in a white wine and olive oil . Our last was the veal and eggplant another great choice. All platters are served family style and there was plenty of food for three of us. We were too full for desert. An excellent way to spend a Saturday night before the theater.
We visited Tony's for Thanksgiving 2017. They offered both a traditional turkey meal as well as their regular Italian offerings. We were running about 5 minutes late for our 7:15 due to holiday traffic traffic and called to let them know- that was our first mistake. When we arrived at 7:18 they had pushed back our reservation 45 min. They said they would get us in within the next 5 minutes but promptly forgot us. We were able to get them to seat us at 7:50. The waiter told us their servings were family style so not to order a meal for everyone- he was right. We ordered one Thanksgiving prix fix meal for my daughter and myself and my husband ordered a half portion of Shrimp alfredo and my son ordered veal marsala. We had the calamari as a starter, which the waiter said was the best in town. It wasn't. It was nice and crispy but lacked flavor. The salad was unremarkable, and the pasta fagioli soup was fine, we didn't eat much of either. The turkey came, served with both white and dark meat on a platter with the stuffing and gravy drizzled over the top. It came with a sweet potato puree (the menu called it sweet potato pie, but it wasn't) and autumn vegetables-green beans, broccoli and carrots, a side dish of cranberry sauce. I went to dig in to the stuffing (my favorite- the menu said it was cornbread and semolina- but not only was it not cornbread stuffing, it was chock full of walnuts- large pieces- I am VERY allergic to them, so I couldn't eat the turkey nor the stuffing, nor the cranberry sauce which also had nuts so I couldn't eat that either. We asked the waiter what kind of nuts were in the stuffing because of my allergy and when he returned from the kitchen he said that there were walnuts, never mentioned that there were nuts in the cranberry sauce. I ate the sweet potatoes and some green beans for dinner. The veal marsala was good, the alfredo was ok, but we were disappointed in the whole experience.
My wife and I and another couple dine at Tony's for all our birthdays as well as "regular" dinners. We love their Italian menu and the service, and frequently eat early enough to escape the din when it is jammed. We decided to try their Thanksgiving Dinner, since a special menu was being offered. While we enjoyed seeing each other and being at Tony's, we would not deviate from our favorite dishes in the future. The turkey was fine, the cranberry sauce excellent, the small pie portions and ice cream OK, but the remainder of the "side dishes" -- especially the enormous portion of stuffing, left much to be desired. (And we left it, especially the stuffing!). The service was amazingly good, and our server, Ingrid, was amazing as she took care of us in almost a circus-like atmosphere. But in the future -- the regular menu!!
Never disappointed!! Our family was visiting from Atlanta. Went to see the show at Radio City and then celebrated our niece’s 18th birthday at Tony DiNapoli’s. We had a great meal. Three different apps. Fried calamari was the best! We shared 3 excellent pasta dishes, and veal Marsala, and shrimp scampi. Plenty of food for the 8 of us. Desserts also amazing. I must say that our server, Ariel, really made this a memorable occasion. She was so helpful and has the best personality. I really think she made this a perfect celebration for us!!
Very friendly service. We were a little late due to bad traffic, but we’re still seated right away. Excellent service, excellent food. My husband and I shared the chicken Parmesan. Very delicious and generous portion size! Would certainly return next time in nyc!
First let me say I love Tony's. It is my go to restaurant with my friends and family. And I ordered in often. Tuesday night I brought 5 friends with me. I have never been so disappointed. The service was horrendous. We started with a bottle of wine - fine. Ordered 2 large Caesar salads. The waiter asked if we wanted anchovies - we all said yes. He made 1 salad -- served if to 4 guests and my other friend and I waited and waited ... I noticed the salad bowl was on his service table so I went and took it. Don't know where he was but we were very hungry. He FINALLY came back. Brought a large eggplant parmigiana - ice cold. The scampi was okay ... not hot but okay. The pasta was the only hot dish. After dinner 2 friends ordered double expresso - he brought decaf. If ever a meal was ruined by a waiter this was it.
So sorry. So disappointed.
