Tony's Di Napoli – Upper East Side. Ratings and Reviews
Comparing this location to midtown location (theatre district) had more ambiance
Severe A+++ at Both Locations
If I had to rate Food Midtown 99 and uptown 95
Great to go to with another couple, as portions are generous
Would Recommend as a quieter experience than Carmine's
I had a great time at Tony's Di Napoli. I came here with my family to celebrate my graduation. I am a vegetarian and had plenty of options. I ended up having stuffed mushrooms, pasta in alla vodka sauce, and chocolate mousse cake. All delicious. My family enjoyed sausage and pizzoila. This is a fantastic place with large portions for a fair price. I can't wait to come back!
Our waiter seemed less than pleased to see us. Nearly everything on the menu is fried and/or covered in oil. There seemed to be very few healthy options. The clams oreganato had an odd taste. The eggplant parmigiana was somewhat rubbery. The broiled shrimp had a distinct taste of bleach. The house wine was acceptable, but at $11/glass, I would have expected better. We skipped desert but still rang up a bill of over $100, which seemed a bit much for a fast food place, which is what this restaurant really is.
The restaurant has a great family vibe to it. A Great selection in dishes. I never thought about the choice between Half and Full but it gives you a great advantage to know if you wanna have a great family feast or keep your intake conservative and Delicious!! Highly recommend the Calamari!!
Have eaten here many times and love the food and everything about the restaurant. However the service was lousy this time. Long wait time for the appetizer and about a 30 minute wait time for the main dishes. When the food did come the pasta Rigatoni and meatballs were luke warm at best. We returned the Rigatoni to have them warm it up. I got the sense that the food was sitting in the kitchen and the waiter just did not pick it up. We then ordered desert and cappuccinos, the waiter brought the cappuccinos but forgot the desert. He then brought the desert after I reminded him.
We discovered the Tony's near Time's Square a few years ago. This year, we stayed on the UES and were looking for good Italian. We saw they have a second location and were excited. We at their twice in three nights. Love this place. Real authentic Italian food.
We've probably been here more than 100 times. Always well cared for and well fed. The staff is particularly well trained - they know their dishes, the pay attention to clients, and the service is always with a smile. The food is consistently satisfying, if not exotic. Plan to take leftovers home. Wines are not exceptional but good, as is the sangria. We've come for meals for 2, 3, 4, 8, 12, and parties of 20-40 over the years - all were equally well served.
