About Tony Mandola's
We take great pride in serving what we think is some of the best food on the Gulf Coast. Everything is homemade fresh in our kitchen daily. Many of our dishes are our Mama’s recipes. With my basic training from Mama, I've gone on to create a sizeable repertoire of recipes of my own. God Bless Mama and God Bless you for your patronage.

Tony Mandola's Ratings and Reviews
Tony Mandola's has been one of our favorite restaurants for cajun style seafood for many years. We enjoy the selection of seafood and the preparation. If you want something simpler, the chef will prepare it however you like. The key lime pie is the best in the city and the carrot cake is excellent as well. Service is always excellent. Recently, Andrew did an outstanding job of taking care of us (he remembered us from a prior visit and remembered the bar drink my wife enjoys).
We've visited Mandola's restaurant several times and are never disappointed. The food is always excellent - the gumbo, boudin, seafood, and cocktails. The service is always perfect - the wait staff doesn't hover over you, but they are always near by if something is needed. It's a very pretty dining room, and has an excellent patio area. We drive about 25 miles to get there, but it is always worth it!!
I was a little disappointed in the food. I had the tuna and it had very little taste to it. My daughter had the redfish and it did not taste fresh. I have eaten at Tony Mandola’s in the past and have always been pleased with the food. A little disappointed this time. Service was great. Waiter was great. Taste of food not so good.
Great food as usual, however they did seem to have an off night with service. Our wait staff seemed unconcerned the fact that our food was taking a long time to arrive. In the past, the service has always been prompt and the food seems to come out very organized, tonight a different story. The manager did adjust or bill accordingly and I will not let this one incident detour me from returning.
Overall great experience! HRW Brunch and was very pleased with everything -- food and service were both very good and the portion size was definitely not down-sized for HRW!! Food was very tasty and good value too. Cool place ... a little bit of a New Orleans vibe ... will definitely visit again!!
We had a great meal with a group of six. The food was excellent. We particularly liked the grilled oysters as a starter. Our entire party was very pleased with the quality of the food. One disappointment, along with a compliment to our server was that a gratuity was automatically applied to our bill. I appreciate the server letting me know that because I would not have detected it as I did not scrutinize the bill. I do not like the practice.
The new Tony Mandola's is a beautiful restaurant. Service was excellent and the food was on average okay. One had the shrimp cocktail Vincente appetizer (very good), 2 etouffee (just okay), red beans and rice (good). It is a great place to go before a Stages performance or if you are in the neighborhood. Will go back again
We just had several small plates rather than entrees and enjoyed them all. My favorites were the lobster bisque, fried asparagus and crab cakes. Not too keen on the crab au gratin dip just because it was too rich for my taste, but it did have a good flavor. Service was excellent. We sat on the patio which was a bit street-noisy...probably won't choose that again.
We have eaten here many times before and have been very pleased, but not this time. Tony Mandola's is on Houston restaurant week and our main course was very disappointing. The first course of oysters were wonderful but the drum fish was over done and I can tell you why!! We ordered the main dish after we finished our oysters and before we could take a sip of our drinks, the dinner was on the table, so it was not prepared fresh when ordered. We will not return for restaurant week again.
We went for HRW last Saturday. Noticed that "regulars" got seated at full tables by the windows - HRW'ers got the smallish booth tables by the bar. My fried seafood on the HRW menu was over-breaded and appeared to have been bulk frozen items out of a box - 2 flat shrimp, 3 strips of catfish and a couple of dried out oysters with coating like shells. Gumbo was mostly rice, very little roux, and no discernable seafood items. My wife's seared tuna was well done, no color, dried out, and was served with a steak knife! A steak knife! Service was very attentive, but even they couldn't make up for the sorry food. All in all, over-priced and over-rated. HRW prices are no bargain.
