Consistently the most fresh, delicious seafood prepared Louisiana/ Sicilian style. As always owners are on site and on the floor making sure guests are completely happy!!! No one does this better! I order a dish not on their menu and the owner has them make it for me. Who does this? The best part was that this restaurant’s version of was even better! Love this place!
We really enjoyed the patio on a beautiful cool winter day! Food was delicious on the HH menu. Very nice staff.
We got the groupon 4 course for 2 and it was a excellent value. We didn't plan on bringing home left overs but had plenty from each course. The Snapper Phyllis is awesome! Overall great afternoon lunch.
When we walked in at the time of our reservation they were running the vacuum cleaner and putting tables together. It took 35 minutes to get our food, which arrived cold. The lobster Benedict was awful. The tiny pieces of lobster were overcooked and rubbery. The bacon was all fat and barely fried. The potatoes seemed to have a burnt stale oil taste, maybe from using the prior night’s oil. The eggs were good. The coffee and the bread at the beginning were good. This was our first experience, and most likely, our last. Too much $$ for a poor experience.
The food was outstanding and the service attentive without being intrusive. Tony Mandola was present and visited with tables making sure things were as the guests expected. The personal touch and attention makes a big difference with restaurants.
The big challenge is the noise level. I couldn't hear my dinner companion unless we both raised our voices.
Tommy (The Manager) was very happy to see us arrive, and made sure we were well taken care of by the wait staff.
He also told us of the off menu items (one of which I ordered, and loved-the Redfish). Wife had the oysters, and told me they were delicious! Great Cosmo by the bar staff!
Looking forward to visiting again soon.
The food was delicious! The customer service was excellent! We were fortunate to have a long conversation with Tony’s wife - she was courteous and very nice. We loved talking to her.
The customer service over all was excellent.
The wine is very reasonably priced. We went on a Groupon fixed price 4 course meal coupon. We want to come back and have the opportunity to order what we want from the menu.
The ambiance was awesome. Like we were in New Orleans. Loved it!!
Loved it will come back!
Pre-theatre meal. Food very good, service excellent, they always get us out in time to make the curtain.
Excellent food and service as well!
So delicious 😋 and very tasty!
Had the grilled shrimp salad off their lunch menu and my colleague had the yellow fin tuna sandwich. They were both great. Even with a full restaurant, we could hear one another without having to raise our voices. Will definitely be back.
Over the last few years friends have been to Tony Mandola's and we continue to get mixed reviews from our friends, Our evening was average, with no real + or - for the food or service. We ordered our drinks and requested cocktail onions with our drink. The cocktail onions were dark brown and appeared to have been aged and bad (a good bartender would have seen this before delivery of the drink). After we mentioned it to the waiter, he agreed and said they had no replacement. The food quality was average, but nothing that really excited me to say, let's go back. The waiter was ok, but didn't seem to be comfortable. I asked for the vegetable of the day and received mashed potatoes (again, not much attention to detail). We asked the waiter for the vegetable of the day which were steamed vegetables and received vegetables that were grilled and somewhat burnt. My main course was the grilled Double Pork Chop, The sauce was great, but hard to keep the taste on a 3 inch pork chop without drying it out. We ignored the vegetables and finished out meal. An ok meal, but not what I was expecting.
The service was excellent, our waiter was very attentive. The food was delicious. We started with the grilled oysters; which was a first for me. We had tickets for a musical and the food was timely.
All around fantastic place to eat. We ended up just eating at the bar since we got happy hour but the service was wonderful. Someone was always there to offer advice or to help out in anyway. The food was the best seafood I’ve had in awhile.
Seriously some of the best food in Houston consistently! Owners on site make a difference. I ordered something not on the menu and the owner supervised my order to get it done correctly! Can't beat that! Highly recommend Tony Mandola's.
Always good and great menu. Happy Mondola's & cousins have called Houston home
Fresh food, quality preparation with the owner there to keep a watchful eye on things. Outstanding service.
Everything was great!!! Sergio was an extremely good waiter. I would wait on a table for Sergio.
We had dinner here on Valentine's Day. The service was very, very good. There were plenty of service staff and they were very attentive. My husband enjoyed the oysters. The crab cake appetizer was very good. The Shrimp Scampi and the steak were excellent. The only disappointment was the molten lava chocolate cake a la mode. The cake was not good at all. I think they forgot the eggs, oil, and sugar. All in all we enjoyed it and would go again when in Houston.
I put the noise level as moderate. We went for a late lunch on Valentines Day to avoid the "rush."
One of your options was energetic. Moderate is a good thing. It was so nice not to have to practically scream to be heard!
Mr. Tony Mandola even greeted us at the front door! This was a birthday and Valentine celebration which we both truly enjoyed! The fish was so fresh and tasted wonderful!
A great place to celebrate Mardi Gras!
Lovely venue with attention to detail and great food. I’m not a seafood fan but there’s plenty to order here besides that; you won’t leave hungry. I do wish they wouldn’t have a “mandatory” valet when the parking lot has plenty of room at lunch. I don’t like others driving my car who have no responsibility for it if damaged.....
pleasant atmosphere; good food. Love seeing the mothers's portraits at the front entrance. Appreciate that Phyllis and Tony are on-site.
I would have given my entree five stars, but my wife thought her entree was just average. Good selection of wine. Attentive service.
When we arrived it was very crowded. Our waiter was busy so we knew there would be a wait. Luckily we weren’t in a hurry. The food was good but not $300 good. It wasn’t as great as people said.
The service and food were wonderful! Great gumbo and garlic bread! Great lunch spot and also great for happy hour!!!
We were going to the theatre downtown on a Saturday night and arrived about an hour before we needed to head there. We told our waiter about our timing needs. He was terrific, actually got us served and done in about 45 minutes so we had some time for dessert and coffee.
Oysters Damian are outstanding although $17 for 4 of them is a bit pricey. The gumbo is very good but doesn't have enough seafood in it. The Sicilian salad is also outstanding. We had fried oyster dinners and they were also outstanding. The coconut cream cake for dessert was only so so.
Great dinner, excellent food.
You can always count on Tony Mandola's for good food, excellent service and a wonderful dining experience.
Promptly seated but no surprise as the restaurant as mostly empty despite a 7:30 reservation on Friday night. Server was more aggressive than what I consider attentive service in pushing us to order appetizer or the off menu specials. Food was average. Hot appetizer was served lukewarm, entrées, both fish dishes were OK but nothing that would make you want to revisit the restaurant with tres leches to finish the evening. The ambiance of a mostly empty restaurant combined with a staff that seems to recognize the atmosphere is closer to a wake rather than an exciting meal out. Would not recommend this to my friends.
It had been a number of years since I dined at Tony Mandola's . Service was not up to the level I recall and while food was good - it was not great. Overall a good dining experience, but not the level of service and quality I recall.
Overall, great AS USUAL. Not our server’s best effort but the lobster bisque and pontchartrain made up for it. Great joint. Going back in a few days
Courteous valet staff. Greeted warmly by receptionist and seated promptly. I personally don’t like having live TV on while I’m dining but people at the bar enjoy it and it was State of the Union night. Chatting with dinner guests who keep glancing up at the TV is annoying.
Waitstaff were prompt , courteous and gave a good description of the specials. Our apps came out promptly, grilled oysters were delicious, gumbo soup good, salad enjoyable but over-dressed.
Entrées were excellent, salmon declared outstanding and snapper special was fresh, delicious. If I have one complaint about the menu it is that most of the seafood dishes are over-loaded with too many toppings like crab and shrimp and a sauce on top of fish. Let the main protein be the star of the dish please. Snapper Tomas was perfect.
Too full for dessert but coffees were hot.
Mrs. Mandola came by to see how our meal went and we had a lovely few minutes talking about Houston restaurant history. An enjoyable personal touch.
Not our first visit, won’t be our last as the consistent high quality is something you can count on, very important when you are inviting guests to dine.
Nice Sunday brunch after church. Greeted my Tony at the door. Very nice time and good food.Definitely recommend.
Mandola’s never disappoints. Food is always so good as is service. We eat there several times a year. Sunday brunch is a special treat and an extremely good value.
Just normal seafood, was way over priced. To many other places with better food.
We had a great dinner and the quality of the food & service was top notch.
Delightful. An old favorite. Food good and such friendly service.
