Extremely slow wait staff. We were sat right away for our reservation but then wait about 7 minutes before anyone came by our table and even then they simply asked if someone had taken our drink order. We poured our own wine several times even though a waiter had come to our table checking on us. Food was ok but not outstanding. While we waited on our meal we observed the hostess eating her own meal at the bar and only stood when someone entered the restaurant or she would stop chewing long enough to say “good night” as people left.
Great food. Their calamari appetizer is exceptional. And the wait staff is some of the best in town.
Disappointed with the overall service and definitely disappointed it was on Mother’s Day. Didn’t know who the actually server was and it took 10 minutes to be properly greeted at the table. Also no one check on our table until I asked for assistance every time.
The service was slow. No-one came to our table for longer than usual when we were seated. And it was slow after that. The menu was different than the menu online on the website. The food was okay. Not the quality I expected.
Tony Mandola’s is a gem ! The food and ambiance is always great!
We had a wonderful time at Mother’s Day brunch! Tony came and said hello. Service could not have been better!
Mother’s day brunch!
Tony's never disappoints!! Mother's day brunch was SO much fun thanks to the friendly and attentive staff! The food portions are beyond generous and delicious!
Great value for the money, classy atmosphere, good service.
It was good. Only thing it was very cold. Ran out of soft shell crab. Besides that food was good.
The appetizers calamari jalapeño poppers and Boudaine are great The main dish shrimp scampi was tasteless the pasta feel like it just came out of the boiling water and the chef forgot to put season in it taste as bland as water we have to ask for salt pepper and Parmesan cheese for the dish The second dish red fish topped with lump of crab meat and crawfish are too salty we have to ask for additional bread to eat with the fish The main dish are disappointment
So sad I had a bad experience.
Our server Cynthia was MIA like all night.
I had a reservation and the table still was not ready upon arrival.
We had to request our waters to be replenished.
We had to ask for bread (it wasn’t offered at all; got it 2hr after seating)
Food took 1hr and 42 min to arrive. Food was cold and flavorless. (I ordered the shrimp linguini and it tasted like cooking oil only; I could not stomach it & the noodles were soggy)
Manager was careless to our complaints and experience.
My guests ordered a lemonade and we had to reask for it, it came 1hr and 47min later and it was watered down. No sugar.
Very unfriendly staff.
Margaritas were great. Ambiance beautiful. Service poor.
I selected this restaurant to celebrate graduating from law school and I was so disappointed. Will not be returning.
Delicious food, consistent quality and helpful service---a wonderful place for any occasion
As usual, the food was delicious & service was great.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Tony’s. Tony greeted us as we came into the restaurant, really nice and thoughtful. The staff, stuffed shrimp and snapper were great. We will be going back to Tony’s.
The waiter was horrible we had to ask for a manager.
Excellent customer service!!!! The food is always great!
The food was outstanding. Service was a bit slow. We had to move outside to the patio. This restaurant is a great restaurant, but he oversight of not putting something to control the noise was a Mistake. This restaurant is too loud when it is Crowded. We may not return.
The food was absolutely delicious and my Mojito was perfect. Only complaint was our waiter did not periodically check to see if we wanted another drink or anything while waiting on our food. We had to get another waiter's attention to get our waiter to check on us.
The food was great & the waiter very knowledgeable ... The noise level increased as time went on but all in all it was a perfect outing!!
Good as always
My parents came into town to visit, so I decided to take them to this restaurant since I had heard it was supposed to be one of the best seafood restaurants in Houston- we were so disappointed!!! The three of us sat on the patio, it was a nice evening. We ordered a glass of wine and an appetizer but then no one came back to take our order for our entrees for about 40 minutes. When we placed our order we were notified that many of the items we were ordering were sold out. This SEAFOOD restaurant didn’t have ANY oysters, or trout. It would have been nice for the server to let us know about the outages upon our arrival so we could chose in-stock items before our 40 minute wait after eating our appetizer. My mom ordered a salad to start and a bowl of the gumbo for her entree, but both arrived at the same time, so she had to choose between eating cold soup OR soggy lettuce. Before our entrees arrived we ordered a second glass of wine to have with our entrees. When our entrees arrived we had to remind the server that we had ordered the second glasses of wine. This is also AFTER we watched the wait staff deliver OUR entree plates to a different table, then pick them back up from in front of the other diners and bring them over to our table... after the other diners had been breathing all over our food.... in the middle of a pandemic... once we received our entrees we didn’t see any of the staff again for over 30 minutes. We had to stand up and flag someone down to fill our waters, as they had all been empty pretty much since receiving our entrees.
The food was delicious, but unfortunately I don’t think we will be back, or recommending this restaurant to others.
We have been eating at Mandola restaurants for over twenty. The food has always been good and the service fantastic.
However, this occasion only the food was good. The service was non existent. From the time we were seated (with no waiter) till the time I asked to speak with the manager (right before he agreed to comp our entire meal) there was little or no service.
Not sure what was off last Saturday night but whatever it was needs to be addressed and rectified quickly.
We will go back and give it another try.
I was disappointed in Tony Mandola's! The evening started with slow waiter service and never got better. It was apparent that there was not enough staff to handle the tables. Also, I must say the food was not great. I ordered chicken picatta and it was not appealing as served on the plate at all. Prices seems extremely high.
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner, including cocktails, oysters Diablo, Mama’s gumbo and main course. Unfortunately, no room for desert! We went on a Friday evening and they had a fantastic solo musician playing sax, guitar and singing some great songs. Very enjoyable evening. Highly recommend!
good bar, good food, good service. A great place.
Lovely waitress who took the time to make sure our experience was everything on our first time I will make sure to return and bring lots of guests with me
Great as always.
Loved the oysters!
Food was ok . The price wasn’t no where near the quality of the food . Olive Garden has better Italian dishes .
Everything was good...nothing spectacular but good.
We returned to Tony Mandola's for the first time since the Pandemic began. We had a wonderful time. We requested a quiet table and we were seated at one. The food was better than we had remembered and as you are our favorite restaurant that says something. The Snapper Martha was superb, very fresh and perfectly cooked. Our server for the Buhler party was very attentive but not obtrusive. He had a delightful personality. In short, everything was perfect.
Excellent food from appetizers to entrees and professional service from Eric. An institution in Houston.
You always know that you will get quality service here. They take care of their customers and deliver great food.
The only problem real problem with this restaurant is that they have the ceiling fans on high and that creates a strong breeze in the restaurant that is somewhat unpleasant. This is about the third time we've experienced this for a meal here.
The lemon martini, crabcakes and salmon we’re all perfect. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere made for a perfect Saturday night.
FABULOUS as usual...always our go-to restaurant that never fails
I really hate to change my rating, however, this is the first time I've been back since the pandemic.
I must say-- when other restaurants are elevating and getting better-- this one has plummeted.
There were all but three other tables of couples the whole ENTIRE evening.
Also, their service was extremely subpar. Even with the lack of crowd and guests, our server still behaved as though she didn't want to work. Extremely lackadaisical and off-putting.
She barely came and checked to see if we wanted to order or anything really. She didn't know answers to our questions about the menu items or have suggestions for anything except when we asked her about dessert.
When I ordered the appetizers, the Crab cakes took a very very long time which, if it was a busy night I would understand but, again, it was EXTREMELY light last night. There's no excuse. Like there was NO excuse for me having super BURNT black crab cakes! They both had a super thick solid layer of black burntness on the I was like.. are you kidding me?
What happened to the quality here? I'm so perplexed.
I never received any water at all for like half the evening until I realized that I had to ASK her for water and I finally received it.
My meal was good. I had the salmon Sophia. I, at least, appreciated that. The pecan pie was out of this world good!! Yum yum yum.
I just.. I'm just really really disappointed in my evening. If it wasn't for my friend sitting at the table with me I probably would have walked out.. this shouldn't happen at a place like this.
What happened to the quality? What happened to the standards? It should have been 100% better since the pandemic because you want to attract people again!
The food and service were outstanding. There were a couple of very loud tables of 6+ people in the same room as us that made it difficult to converse at normal speaking volume, so don't expect muted noise levels. Prices seemed a little high for the overall experience.
First time brunch at this restaurant. The food was excellent. Service lacked a little, but it was Easter Sunday and all the staff was very busy. The waiter made up his lack of attention before our meal was complete. He was very courteous.
