Great Creole and Seafood, best service, every time I go to Houston we eat there and enjoyed it tremendously.
We purchased Groupon’s Prix Fixe for Two. We let the hostess know when we arrived so she brought with her the ‘Groupon Menu’ as she walked with us to our table. Our waiter, from our arrival to our departure, was very attentive and gracious...which we appreciated given that were there with our Groupon certificate which requires that 20% gratuity must be added to the bill. We were very happy to do so. The food was incredibly fresh and flavourful. Given the prix fixe there were wonderful options to choose from. It was so good, we ordered another certificate, this time for a group of four. We appreciated the decor and openness of the room which we were afraid would make it harder to hear one another as the restaurant filled up. It was just fine.
Very nice atmosphere, great menu and very friendly staff.
The food was excellent
I have been a patron of the restaurant for a long time. I was very disappointed to see the menu has changed and is very limited and expensive. There are only two non seafood selections on the menu - both expensive beef steaks. On a Saturday night, the restaurant was empty. With the limited menu, we will not be returning.
Food and service is always wonderful.
This was a return to Tony Mandola's and it was every bit as excellent as in previous visits. We were looking for a quiet evening to enjoy each other's company as well as great food. We succeeded wildly at both.
We’re only in H Town 6-7 times a year. We make sure to hit Tony’s at minimum 4-5 times.
Bartender would get an Emmy if that was possible
Pretty sure the shrimp were swimming an hour ago. Oysters are the freshest in Houston
Entire menu is great. Ambience as well.

We ordered the crab cakes, rainbow trout, and whole lobster. The crab cakes we're ok, the rainbow trout was good, and the lobster was horrible. We have had better seafood at Pappadeaux for a lot less money. They charbroiled the lobster to death. You could not taste lobster, just charbroiled flavor. The consistency of the meat was soft and mushy. We had to send it back. Very disappointed. Whole Maine lobster should be boiled or steamed, not charbroiled! It was a birthday dinner, so it was even more of a disappointment. Also they did not specify on the menu how it would be cooked. We were told by the waiter that they only charbroil the lobster.
Always an enjoyable time...home away from home!
My salmon and the vegetables were undercooked! Could have been better!!
Mr Mandola meet my party as soon as we arrived. And it just got better from there. Mr Mandola even fixed us some crab balls as a treat. It was a great experience from beginning to end. Thanks for the hospitality and excellent food. And don’t forget to listen to Harry Shepherd.
Wow. Service was outstanding. Waiter was a true professional. Owner/manager came by the table to make sure we were happy with everything. Food was perfect. Wine was perfect. Atmosphere was comfortable and unpretentious.
I like restaurants with excellent food and Mandola’s does that with seafood.
Our waiter was fantastic. The food was great
We had never been here before, and we loved it. I had the Sopa Tomas, and it was the best tortilla soup I have ever had. We will definitely be back. Looking forward to dinner on the patio this spring.
Outstanding; from the hostess, to the welcome upon seating, service, food, desert...thoroughly enjoyed!
We are never disappointed in Tony Mandola‘s. Always excellent. We bring out of town guests here without reservation because we know it will be excellent. Our service was out of this world and the food is always delicious. Highly recommend it
The food and service was very good. We like the ambience however the prices have increased too much. Too expensive for a regular weekend night.
Great food. Enjoyed the service and atmosphere.
The food, service and ambience are simply great .... as is being met by Tony Mandola at the door. Great place to meet an old friend and enjoy offerings from a superb menu.
While in town celebrating my birthday I had a chance to visit one of my favorite restaurants. My meal started with the raw oysters, followed by the trout almondine paired with white wine and finishing up the chocolate cake and an expresso. The food is always wonderfully prepared. And the service is always superb. Spencer is by far my favorite server, very personable. Great place for everyday dining and special occasions. By far one of my favorite places when visiting the city.
Tony Mandola's is an old favorite. Reliably excellent food.
Wonderful...as always! Love the fried oysters, atmosphere and the family!
The food was not that tasty. The waiter was very attentive and nice as was the rest of the staff. I don't think we got a lot out of the food as far as value is concerned either.
First we enjoyed a happy hour drink and appetizer in the bar area and then moved in to an excellent dinner. Both the pasta and seafood were fresh and well prepared.
quite possibly the best gumbo in Houston. such a pretty place and close enuf to downtown to make the theatre on time.
Absolutely love this restaurant. Always great quality, great service and wonderful food.
Great spot for lunch. Good food, service and ambiance. Able to speak with colleagues and friends.
My first time eating at Tony Mandola's. I didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. The service was impeccable and the food outstanding. Actually dy-no-mite!!! I am from New Orleans and know good food when I smell it. Before the waiter set our plates on the table, I was already in love. Again, I'm so happy to be acquainted with the Tony Mandola's. It is on my list for our next date night.
Great menu, even better chef! One of the top restaurants in Houston.
What an awesome place to relax and enjoy dinner and wine. Awesome.
Very good food and service.
Out "go to" restaurant for pre-theatre dining. Food is outstanding, server Fallon takes wonderful care of us, they get us in and out timely so we can make the curtain without stress.
My wife and I dined at Tony's Mandola's for the first time on 2/15/19. It was a late Valentine's Day celebration. I had read the many positive reviews of Tony's on OpenTable, so I decided to make reservations for a first-time visit. Our total experience was not a good one at all. To begin with, we had to wait longer than we expected to get initial service from our server. After taking our drink order, he then asked if we would like an appetizer and we did order one. We had to wait longer than expected for the appetizer to arrive, and once it did, the server told us it would be a few more minutes before he would take our meal order. After a few more longer than would be expected minutes, our meal order was finally taken. Our meals were just ok at best. Our expectations were that they would be exceptional, but they were not. Our final conclusions of this experience are that the service was not good, the meals were overpriced and that the servers had too many tables to attend to, thus not providing the service that we expected. We will not be coming back to Tony Mandola's for a second visit.
It was great
We had reservations for many weeks. Arrived at an empty restaurant and they sat us at the table next to the door to the patio where waiters going in and out. Really?? Food is pretty good. Ambiance is average. Service needs some help.
This place has gone down over the past few years, terrible service over a two hour wait period for sub par over priced cold food.
The food is excellent. We always enjoy the ambiance and service is fantastic. Thank you and keep up the great work.
