Tony Chan is an upscale downtown restaurant that serves contemporary Asian cuisine in spacious surroundings, complemented by a lovely view of the Biscayne Bay. Helmed by Chef Wai K. Li, the restaurant’s menu features classic Japanese and Cantonese fare, including sushi, dumplings, rice and noodle dishes, lamb and seafood. Tony Chan’s most popular menu item is the Peking duck, which comes deboned and stir-fried with fresh vegetables. We use Valet service in the DoubleTree Grand Hotel, we are able to validate parking for up to 3 hours, it will cost our guest $3.75. There are also self-parking on the street, and self-parking across the street in Omni Garage.

I went because this was rated one of the top places for Dim Sum in Miami. WHen we got there at 1:40 on a Sunday afternoon there were only 2 tables of people in the whole restaurant.
We were seated right away, then waited forever and no one even came to our table to give us water. So since we didn't see any Dim Sum on the menu or and Dim Sum carts, and we didn't get any service, and the prices for the food were very high for a lunch, we left.

Had dinner with the family of six on a Friday night. The restaurant is located in a condo/ hotel building located on Biscayne Bay just north of downtown Miami. At 8:00pm the restaurant was only half full. Drinks were serviced and we ordered: Peking Duck, Shrimp, Steamed Fish, Chicken, and fried rice. The duck was prepared perfectly and the presentation was outstanding. All of the dishes were delicious. We had a little fried rice and duck to take home. If you are looking for a nice place to enjoy Chinese/ Asian food you will not be disappointed. Will definitely come again.

The hot & sour soup and appetizers were 5 star! The restaurant has a patina - and could use a bit of updating given its pricing and downtown location. The General Tso's Chicken and the Black Bean Shrimp were both listed on the menu as spicy items, but were extremely bland. The prices here for Chinese are over the top. The manager says they have a dim sum menu that is available for dinner any time. Based on this visit, I think we'll try that the next time.

Typical Cantonese. Food was mostly tasty but not great. Service was rushed with a feeling that the servers were slave labor locked in dungeons between shifts. Plates and silverware seemed 85% clean - probably rinsed and not watched. Expensive for what it is. That written, salty and tasty.

Tony Chan's has been around a long time. Their chefs know how to prepare their menu in a very solid fashion.

Three items that we find always excellent are the hot and sour soup, peking duck and the dynasty fish.

We have been coming to this restaurant for a while. We always receive excellent service. The food is prepared as you request. If there is any problem it is fixed immediately. We will be back the food is just good.

First of all the waiter had no idea what Open Table was. Did not bring us the menu for Dim Sum and the quality and taste of the food was awful. Waiter was rude and arrogant. The combination of bad food and bad service says " Do not ever Return".

We had a very early dinner here at 4:30 upon arriving from Jacksonville prior to our evening session at the Miami Tennis Open. The garlic eggplant and mixed vegetable selections really hit the spot as did the shrimp hot and sour soup. Very attentive service.

We were very disappointed with the food. Every thing was bland and tasteless. No ginger, garlic or other flavors. All of us said that we would not return. Also, right next to the restaurant is a large room in which there was a wedding taking place. Because of the very loud music and the flashing strobe lights, we could hardly have a conversation. I have never, ever, had such bland Chinese food.

We decided to dine here as it was very difficult to find a recommended Chinese restaurant in Miami. The concierge at the Marriott and the taxi drivers could not recommend anything. So we searched online and Google and Opentable showed Tony Chan's Water Club as a recommended restaurant for Chinese food. Since it was located in the same building as the Doubletree Hilton, I figured how could we go wrong.

However, I was very wrong. I was not impressed by food, price, nor service. I'm not saying that the food was bad. It was average. The price was exceptionally high for the ambiance. The service was average, very courteous and helpful, but not at the level of 5 stars.

I find it very difficult to believe the reviews - or maybe my standards are too high for Chinese Cuisine.

Despite all the hype it was very average and uninspiring. The good news is that it is not horribly overpriced and the service was respectable. The special thick soup was good as were the dumplings but it was downhill from there with the main entrees. Probably the screaming child near us did not help my responses here. Management just ignored the situation (like what baby are you talking about?). Definitely convenient to the Marriott just not that terrific and not worth going back to.

In their nearly 20 years of operation, Tony Chan's remains the vanguard of exquisite Chinese cuisine. It may cost slightly more than run-of-the-mill Chinese, but is well worth paying more. I still delight in the "windowed" kitchen, where diners can watch Tony Chan's chefs in action. In addition to the entertainment value, it is reassuring to observe the immaculately kept kitchen.

The food is, as always, excellent. Authentic Chinese cuisine. The service is very good. Good ambience. Definitely recommend. It is one of our regular restaurants.
