The waiter was very patient and really friendly. And the food was amazing
The food was flavorful and delicious, just what we were hoping for. The service was decent, not great, but not something that would keep me from coming back.
There are some better noodles in the triangle, but the mood is nice and the Izakaya rocks
All around an amazing comfort food experience. Ambience could really be taken up a notch (Artwork? Something other than bare walls), but honestly I'd eat this ramen in a dark alley if I had to. Pork belly buns and duck ramen were on point. Also enjoyed the tonkotsu. We had the sesame seed ice cream dessert to share—I'd get it for the waffles alone. A new favorite spot!
Spectacular spot for exceptional food and drinks!
Eat at the bar and let Sierra talk you through the menu, drinks and sake selection... impossible to go wrong!
We’ll be back!!!
Great dinner for a large group of us. We had the upstairs to ourselves and the bartender and waitstaff were very attentive. Food was excellent-pork belly & Shrimp buns, karaage and great ramen for dinner. Excellent food & experience!
The ambience is good, but I've had better Ramen. I had the Tonkotsu Ramen and didn't feel the flavor or quantity was worth the price. The veggie buns were good and they have a good collection of Sake.
As always a fantastic experience.
Always a great place to go for casual dining in Raleigh. The buns are delish, and you can't go wrong with the ramen.
So yummy! Great, quick, friendly service and amazing food.
Good food and nice ambience
We found the duck ramen to be of excellent quality with a delicate broth and good mix of vegetables and protein. The adult slushies were a nice compliment to the ramen. The staff was attentive but not intrusive. Definitely will visit again to try the other options.
All of the ingredients were fresh and the flavors in the ramen melded together nicely. The presentation of the food was very appealing!
We went restaurant week and loved all 3 courses. Who knew Black Sesame ice cream and lavender infused honey could be so good.
Dinner was absolutely amazing tonight! The JFC Mazemen was one of the best dishes that I’ve ever eaten in my entire life. Thanks for the V.I.P. service, Sierra. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
Food and service were amazing! Will definitely be back!
If you’re not in a rush I recommend them. The service was painfully slow.
A small ramen shop located off South Wilmington, I paid a visit to Tonbo during restaurant week. Though they did not have a dedicated Restaurant Week menu, they did participate in the event, and had a three-course special available. The restaurant was nearly full. The wait staff seemed to have difficulty managing the crowd, but they were very polite and as attentive as time permitted. The ramen itself was okay, not great. The noodles must've clumped during boiling, as some of the noodles were not properly cooked. The pork and eggs were perfect, but the broth lacked the saltiness, umami and rich fattiness imparted by the simmering of broken pork bones and marrow in the broth. The karaage was a large order, easily enough for two. Overall an average to good meal. I think I'd like to give this restaurant another try in the future.
We really liked the chicken wings. The main dish was very good but the broth could have been hotter.
The ramen was delicious, service was friendly and quick, and ambience was nice for a date. Will definitely return again!
This was the best ramen I’ve ever had! Highly recommend the Tonkatsu Ramen with the chili bomb and an adult slushee.
If you like ramen, this is your place! No 2 ways about it
This restaurant is so convenient to get to, in a great location, and has an atmosphere I loved. The food was fanstastic, I had high expectations and they were exceeded! The cauliflower salad appetizer and Tonkotsu ramen bowl were delicious. I will be back many times in my future, that is certain.
We had a wonderful birthday dinner for my daughter. The food was terrific. The tempura fried veggies were well seasoned, and there was a good variety. My husband enjoyed the sauce on the miso wings, and my daughter loved the BBQ steamed buns. I got the vegetarian ramen, and once again, there were so many delicious kinds of veggies! I love going to a place where the vegetarian options don't seem like bland afterthoughts. Both husband and daughter loved the tonkatsu. Although the broth was not as rich or complex as other ramens we've had, everyone enjoyed their noodles. Service was friendly and responsive. Two appetizers were taken off of the bill because they didn't all come out at the same time. It was only a brief delay, and we did not complain. The only negative we had about the evening was dessert. The green tea doughnuts were liquid on the inside, covered in a chocolate sauce that tasted like chocolate milk mix, and a slightly raspberry gel? sauce? Skip that, and you'll have a fantastic meal!
Great food, great service, can’t wait to come back!
The food was mediocre and overpriced for the portion size. Service was sub par.
A lot of potential, not well executed.
We were seated promptly, well attended to throughout the meal, and our order arrived fast. Everything was delicious. The server was very friendly and informative, and patient with our questions and requests. We will be back!
Great food and great value. One of my go-to faves.
I think Tonbo is a decent ramen restaurant. 3/4 of our table was new to this cuisine and our waiter did not explain it very well when we asked him to. The food itself was just OK. I would try other Raleigh area ramen restaurants before this one.
First time. Was great. Very nice addition to DT Raleigh. Ramen is phenomenal 👌
Delicious as always:)
Ramen was terrible. No flavor and way too oily! However, the lamb chops were good.
Food was average, but the atmosphere was good. I had the vegetarian ramen and my husband had the seafood ramen with shrimp and scallops.
The food is delicious, was prepared quickly, and was way cheaper than I was expecting for being located right in the middle of downtown. Service was great, they have delicious cocktails, and all their dining options are great!! We visited the ramen bar side, not the izakaya, so I can't speak to that, but if you're in the mood for really really good ramen, hit up Tonbo!
Food was excellent, drink was good, service was great, was my second visit and I'll definitely be back again!
I love this place! The ramen is delicious and they have a very extensive sake menu. Not ideal for large parties and I would recommend reservations on the weekend
Thank you Catie!
This was my first visit to a ramen restaurant and it definitely won't be the last! I went to this restaurant for Mother's Day with my wife and our kids. At first we thought the menu might be challenging for the younger ones, but it turned out fine. We ordered the Shoyu bowls for everyone except myself. The bowls were so tasty. The broth was smoky, aromatic and flavorful. The noodles, veggies and pork just hit the spot!
I had the Wyagu burger that was sandwiched between 2 ramen noodle "buns". I've never had a burger like this before. The patty was so moist and the addition of the over easy egg, mushrooms, pepper jack cheese, avocado, shishito tartar sauce just took it over the top! Despite that the fact that I was pretty full I still had to try some of the Shoyu bowl which I like said was delicious.
I can't recommend this restaurant enough and my family will be back in the near future!
Second time visiting. This time brought guests from 80 y.o. to teens. Everyone absolutely loved their choices from the buns, dumplings, ramen and sake. No room for dessert but can only imagine. Exceptional quality and presentation and our server Leo was outstanding!
Loved it. Tasty food. Great service!
Delicious! Pork buns were great, and the duck ramen was amazing. Def added to our go-to list!
