Tomaso's Italian Kitchen - Scottsdale
Food was good, not great as Tomaso’s in the past has been. Ambiance no longer sexy and inviting. Concrete floors made the screaming child even louder. Service was fair at best. Waited after food was served to get another setting. Table was not prepared when we arrived, despite reservations made two days before. Sucked on melting ice cubes while waiting for a second drink.
Wait staff was attentive, quiet so a conversation was possible. Food was delicious I had lobster ravioli one of my guests had clams, the others had chicken parmigiana and everything was good. I would recommend going there.
We have been to the restaurant quite a few times, but it seems to have gone downhill. Three out of five meals were un eatable....the clams with pasta tasted like dish water.....the veal chop Parmesan didn’t have melted cheese..just a slice barely heated and a side dish of couscous that was not as described. The chicken Parmesan was dry and tasted as if it had been reheated. They apologized and comped dinner, but it didn’t change our attitude. We also ate outside as it was supposed to be quieter, but half way thru the meal they seated a table of young men(10 of them) who shouted and cursed. Everyone around hurried to leave. All In all, I doubt we will be back unless they drastically change. I really blame the kitchen, not the staff. They were friendly and tried their best.
Bobby took great care of us and was a pleasure to be at his table.
This was our first visit after the remodel. We both had the thought that the chef changed, as the food was not quite as good as previous times. The shrimp was overcooked; tough and very dry. The lobster ravioli, while dry, was tasty. The parmigiani was also slightly overcooked and too little marinara. The cannoli was delicious. Overall good, but less of a go-to spot than it was.
Food was terrible service was spotty my husband’s Meal had to be sent back it came back worse and then he just gave up and ate the part that was edible
Very simply put, this restaurant has nothing worthwhile to offer. Waitstaff was friendly but completely inattentive and would vanish into the kitchen for an inordinate amount of time. Asked for a Caesar salad lightly dresses - came soaked in dressing. Entrees were served and we were never offered grated Parmesan. When we asked for it, they brought it 5 minutes later. Ciappino entrees which were recommended by the waitperson, were so spicy, they weren’t eaten (mgr did take them off the bill). Amount of fish in the Ciappino was a disappointment- 4 small shrimp, 4 small clams, a small amount of calamari - no scallops or mussels or white fish — a very weak and poor presentation. Pasta was barely cooked (al dente is okay but this was chewy and tough). Since this was our 2 nd visit after a not so great dinner approx a tear ago, sorry Tomaso’s - two strikes and you’re out.
There is no charm. The decor and the plate presentation were, very ordinary as well as the lighting. Nothing about it was worth the price or makes me want to return
We had been here before with a pretty good experience, but this night’s experience left a lot to be desired. Service was very slow and they weren’t even half full. I ordered veal medallions and was served lamb chops. Although I like lamb, it was clearly not what I ordered. The server, Ed, was not interested in making it right because it “may take too long”. Instead he said he would buy dessert essentially if I just ate the lamb. I even pulled him over and politely asked that he exchange it and got the same response. Ridiculous. I rarely send anything back but when its not what you ordered then the restaurant has to make it right. Real bummer is that the main reason I had my group go here was so I could enjoy some veal.
Got my order wrong. Part of it s was correct but thy forgot part of it. Brought it after I was all done eating.
Nice spot but not nearly on par with Tomaso's on Camelback for dinner. Will try next for lunch. The recent renovation changed decor from more intimate Italian setting to modern.
The inside was too loud. The concrete floor and lack of table linens don't fit with the menu pricing.
Service was great and the waiter made great suggestions.
Great for a holiday family dinner
Recently remodeled, the inside is pleasant. Service was very good, waiter attentive but not pushy. Nice rhythm established. Food very good. Squash blossom appetizer yummy. My lamb tender and cooked exactly the way I asked. Chocolate mousse cake dessert out of this world. Overall an extremely pleasant experience.
First time there since re-opening. Pretty disappointed. It may have been the reduced holiday menu, which should have been disclosed when we made the reservation. Frustrating to go there thinking we were ordering off the regulars menu, only to learn they had a temporary holiday menu. The short ribs were dry and tasteless, but for the sauce. The gnocchi was way over powering to include with a short rib dish. Don’t know if we’ll be going back, which is a shame because it used to be one of my favorite restaurants when it was “When in Rome.”
I reserved a table for me and my son on Christmas. I’ve always wanted to go to Tomaso’s on Camelback but this was easier to get a reservation. I love the Sicilian Butcher and understand that is Tomaso’s son’s restaurant so I had very high expectations. It may have been a limited menu for Christmas because I was disappointed that calamari wasn’t on the menu. I ordered clams for an appetizer. The clams were fine but they were served covered in shoe string fries. The broth with Calabrian peppers was salty like sea water. My son ordered clams with spaghetti for his entree. I decided on the lasagna but then was informed that they ran out and it was only 6:30pm. I selected the short rib gnocchi. It was fine but not worth ordering again. My son enjoyed his entree.
The space is a giant open room but it wasn’t very loud. I like that because so many restaurants are far too noisy from open kitchens, hard surfaces and everyone shouting to converse with the person next to them.
I will try Tomaso’s on Camelback and give it another chance.
Very mediocre in all aspects. Perhaps this was due to the Xmas menu. Will not return.
Great lunch on Christmas Day!
The recent remodeling made the decor look cheap like a pizza parlor instead of a fine Italian restaurant. Staff has also changed and the manager now wore tennis shoes and casual clothes. Very gruff impersonal manner. Too bad. We wont be going back. This is Christmas week and the place was almost empty for dinner hour.
Waiter was not very attentive and also would not give me what I asked for when I ordered my cocktail. Super annoying. Lobster bisque was extremely salty could eat it and my husband wouldn’t eat it either. Wont be back
Maybe a good Happy Hour. I'll go to the Camleback one for dinner.
Terrible service average food
Several tables got up and left-
Not the same restaurant as it used to be but has same name-
Food was excellent!
Tomaso’s Italian kitchen is a great neighborhood Italian restaurant. The food is fantastic; the best Italian food in the area.
The service has been excellent every time I’ve been there and the prices are reasonable.
I can’t wait to go back.
love the new menu....best meatballs ever!! We will be going back soon
Terrible food and service.
Excellent service and all four of our family members enjoyed the food.Wine prices are affordable. Their Calamari and the meat balls are the best.
Had a great evening out, the menu was available to my liking as well as my friend that’s very picky
We had an exceptional evening--the food, service and attention we received from our server Seth and the manager Gino will make us return again and recommend Tomaso's to everyone. Thank you for taking such great care of us.
This was an excellent choice for dinner. My family was in and we decided to come here and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent the service was exceptional and we were made to feel like regulars. I could not have asked for a better experience.
Delicious food and great service !
This is the third time we went to Tomaso's, and it won't be the last. The food is great, staff attentive and nice, and the ambiance is outstanding. I would highly recommend Tomaso's for a special occasion or if you just want some tasty, excellent food.
Great meal and service. We were a party of 4 and everyone agreed we will be back!
I love the all day happy hour menu! Great food at reasonable prices and the service is fantastic. Everyone is friendly and very welcoming and I like the new, more casual decor. This is my go to place when meeting friends out.
Amazing service and food at this fun restaurant. The shared pasta boards are a great way to start and the yellow tomato pasta sauce is a do not miss!
I was concerned from what little I heard about the reboot. But, I was surly impressed. The Lobster Bisque was fabulous and that wasn't the case previously. Management was right thgre to see all was correct. The ship is now going in the righjt direction
Was expecting more from this iconic restaurant knowing that it had installed the second location in a strip center. No ambiance, food was not to Tomaso's standard, wait staff not attentive. Was a birthday event - dud.
Very nice restaurant with great food! My fiancé and I checked this spot out with some friends, and each of us loved what we ordered. We all also commented (independently of one another) how much we liked the amount of options on the menu, and how most of them sounded good to us. This is a great spot to try for a date or a night out with friends. The service and food are excellent!
We had a great time and the staff was very friendly
