Tomaso's Italian Kitchen - Scottsdale
Great food and service!
Service was slow. My meal and my sister’s were excellent ( shrimp parmesan and Michaelangelo), but my brother had the scallops and they were only ok and there were not many of them.
When we went to Tomaso’s before the change over to the new decor and menu, we were very pleased. Since changing to the Italian kitchen the ambience is very casual. Noisy, more bustling about, and the food was not as good as it previously was. No specials, and. More limited menu.
I booked the reservation a week in advance without difficulty. We were seated outside but the heater was more than adequate to keep us warm. I had the Cioppino which I typically get at Italian restaurants. I’ve had this dish at Vic and Ola’s, Spigas and Arrivaderchis. The price is comparable between all 4 but the amount of Seafood in the dish at Tomaso’s was marginal at best. I will never order that dish at your restaurant again if I do go back.
My wife and I had a wonderful evening. Food was great, service great, restaurant was busy and they handle it with no problems. Always had fresh water and extra butter when we asked. People were disappointed that did not have a reservation. We will be again!!!
Excellent, friendly service in a lovely and comfortable setting. We were there for a Valentine's dinner and ordered from their delicious menu of the evening. Delicious and wonderfully affordable. We will be back!
Not as good as it used to be. Hate the remodel inside.
Food and ambience was excellent
Our Valentine Day dinner at Tomaso's was excellent. The place was packed, but things went smoothly and the food and service (Amana) were great.
The food was excellent. Because it was Valentine’s Day service was slow and the food could have been hotter. We will definitely go back
We’ve had previously eaten at Tomaso’s so it was quite a disappointment at our Valentines dinner. We had no problem with a set menu for a special occasion but we expected the chef to do the best, not the worst on those limited offerings.
I don’t know if this was just an unplanned misstep or an act of greed. But at nearly twice the price of their competitors I feel we certainly paid for what ever it was.
We’ll not return.
Food was great, server left something to be desired and messed up our order but the manager was quick to correct the mistakes and comped us on the messed up orders. Noise from the main road was audible on the patio but overall had a very nice experience. The quality of the food made any other slight complaint drift away by the time we were done.
The service was fantastic! The food was good however packed with sodium and not aligned with the price point.
The wine selection was okay. I had to return the first glass of cab I selected because it had turned. The second glass of wine was much better. We enjoyed the experience but I wouldn’t return for another visit.
From the warm greeting by the hostess to the end of our two hour meal all six of our party had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and the servers were great. The warm ambiance on the patio made it hard to leave. We can’t wait to come back.
Our server was very nice, but had to apologize several time for the ridiculously long wait for our entrées. It was at least 45 minutes to an hour between appetizers and entrees. My husband's pasta was thick and chewy. It was supposed to be shrimp fra diablo, but there was nothing fra about it. The cheesecake was not very tasty and it was passed around the table, but no one liked it. To make up for the poor service the server comped our coffees. We will not return.
Mediocre at best
Nothing like the Tomaso’s at Camelback
Our reservation was honored on time, The food was tasty and the ambiance was wonderful. It is so nice to have a good restaurant in the north valley.
Great Italian Food. Great Service. Newly remodeled: like the new look.
The restaurant has changed from continental/casually sophisticated to just average. Food quality, ambience, décor and service has diminished by 50% from our last visit over 12 mos. ago. I would not recommend Tomaso's Italian Kitchen which is a huge step down for all of the above mentioned reasons from when it was Tomaso's When In Rome. This is an offshoot from the 'mother' restaurant on Camelback and for which this review does not apply. Again, this location has devolved from its' original stature in our opinion.
our only dissapointment was the short ribs dish
The plate was presented with two large chuncks of meat that did not look appealing The taste of the shirt ribs was well seasoned and good
All other dishes were fine the ink squid pasta excellent execept not much fish was added to the pasta
The food was bland and unappetizing
Excellent. Nice people nice atmosphere. An iOS to please
place was empty@7:45, overcooked pasta that came out when we were still having our appetizer, guess everyone wanted to go home
Went for our anniversary dinner and had a wonderful time. The food and service were amazing!
Waiter and service personnel were great as were the salads but unfortunately the pasta dishes were horrible. So horrible that I felt compelled to write my first review ever.
Food was absolutely fantastic and the service was wonderful. Age range of customers is definitely on the older side- but great restaurant and we will return!
Service slowed down halfway thru. Waited so long for desert and coffee we almost canceled it.
Interestingly, the manager(who was greeting people table to table) asked me if I wanted more sauce for my short ribs. I said no thanks at the time. But when I asked our waiter later for extra sauce for our take home bag, he said the chef wouldn’t do it. Oh well!
But overall, we enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. Delicious food! Just some lapses.
We will come back for sure.
Went there for my birthday..food was excellent as well as the service. We will definitely go back !
The food was fantastic. I highly recommend the chicken Parm. Service was great prices were more than reasonable for the neighborhood. Give it a try you’ll love it!
Dining room is beautiful. Unfortunately service and food is very poor. My boyfriend ordered the lamb loins, which was two TINY lamb slices served with a side of Luke warm carrots that were 3 times the serving of the lamb... I ordered the prawns and risotto, very tasty but came out cold. The place offers bread service but our bread came out AFTER we finished our entrees, after we asked for it. Service is terrible, the woman had 3 tables TOPS and she checked on us twice the whole night, she didn’t even take our orders another server did.. we wanted to try something new we usually go to tuti Santi’s Italian restaurant but we wanted to try another one, definitely will NOT be returning. Staff seems very untrained and young, little menu knowledge and didn’t even bring out silverware for our desserts... am I suppose to eat cheesecake with my hands?? Terrible just terrible.
Food was good, not great as Tomaso’s in the past has been. Ambiance no longer sexy and inviting. Concrete floors made the screaming child even louder. Service was fair at best. Waited after food was served to get another setting. Table was not prepared when we arrived, despite reservations made two days before. Sucked on melting ice cubes while waiting for a second drink.
Wait staff was attentive, quiet so a conversation was possible. Food was delicious I had lobster ravioli one of my guests had clams, the others had chicken parmigiana and everything was good. I would recommend going there.
We have been to the restaurant quite a few times, but it seems to have gone downhill. Three out of five meals were un eatable....the clams with pasta tasted like dish water.....the veal chop Parmesan didn’t have melted cheese..just a slice barely heated and a side dish of couscous that was not as described. The chicken Parmesan was dry and tasted as if it had been reheated. They apologized and comped dinner, but it didn’t change our attitude. We also ate outside as it was supposed to be quieter, but half way thru the meal they seated a table of young men(10 of them) who shouted and cursed. Everyone around hurried to leave. All In all, I doubt we will be back unless they drastically change. I really blame the kitchen, not the staff. They were friendly and tried their best.
The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere. Our server was friendly, personable and attentive which made the dining experience very nice. The menu is average, the pricing was average to high for what you are served.
What was disappointing is the food was not very hot, and mediocre. I started with a Ceaser Salad which was good. My entree was Shrimp Parmesan with Crabmeat Ravioli. the shrimp were small and I felt like I was eating mostly breading. My dining partner had the Eggplant and Gnocchi , which honestly was somewhat bland tasting.
No green vegetables were served with these platters- which is a big miss.
Bobby took great care of us and was a pleasure to be at his table.
This was our first visit after the remodel. We both had the thought that the chef changed, as the food was not quite as good as previous times. The shrimp was overcooked; tough and very dry. The lobster ravioli, while dry, was tasty. The parmigiani was also slightly overcooked and too little marinara. The cannoli was delicious. Overall good, but less of a go-to spot than it was.
Food was terrible service was spotty my husband’s Meal had to be sent back it came back worse and then he just gave up and ate the part that was edible
Very simply put, this restaurant has nothing worthwhile to offer. Waitstaff was friendly but completely inattentive and would vanish into the kitchen for an inordinate amount of time. Asked for a Caesar salad lightly dresses - came soaked in dressing. Entrees were served and we were never offered grated Parmesan. When we asked for it, they brought it 5 minutes later. Ciappino entrees which were recommended by the waitperson, were so spicy, they weren’t eaten (mgr did take them off the bill). Amount of fish in the Ciappino was a disappointment- 4 small shrimp, 4 small clams, a small amount of calamari - no scallops or mussels or white fish — a very weak and poor presentation. Pasta was barely cooked (al dente is okay but this was chewy and tough). Since this was our 2 nd visit after a not so great dinner approx a tear ago, sorry Tomaso’s - two strikes and you’re out.
There is no charm. The decor and the plate presentation were, very ordinary as well as the lighting. Nothing about it was worth the price or makes me want to return
