TB's Favorite! Hand cut 14 oz boneless and well marbled
Perfectly seasoned, pan seared and topped with crawfish Julie
House-made and pan seared. Served with a side of remoulade
I have never seen such public display from two tables seated by us near the bar in my career. Ironically it was two separate parties. It was entertaining to say the least. I am grateful that I didn’t have my grandaughter there since We tend to go there after lessons. Our server was wonderful but I was embarrassed taking my boss there for dinner. I did not complain and now wish I had.
Great food. I love the gumbo and any steak. Bar drinks are good. D is a great waiter.
Fantastic dinner as usual. Can’t go wrong with Tom Brown’s for an upscale meal in Madison.
Great atmosphere and delicious food! Our absolute favorite restaurant in Madison!!
Our server Dasha was outstanding! The food was great.
Excellent food, drinks, and service. Very nice atmosphere.
Good food. Well prepared. Super service.
Ambience of a diner. Noisy.
Fantastic food and our server, Ashton was great! Good music and environment overall! Highly recommend!
I celebrated mine and my boyfriend’s birthday and the food and experience was amazing! Our server was fast, kind and attentive!!
Exceptional food and service. The "perfect place" for a romantic dinner or any special occasion.
My 2nd visit. Wanted to bring my sister that was in town for her birthday. We both enjoyed the food. I can make myself sick on the fried crab claws. I would eat a whole bushel of them 😊
The ambience is wonderful and I will always ask to be seated in Justin’s area. He is top notch, always excellent service. To be honest all the employees were very professional and offered great customer service.
We had another wonderful dinner. We had the BEST waitress and the food was outstanding!
My wife and I had a "date night" for our first time eating at Tom Brown's. We were not disappointed. The service was excellent and so was the food. We have had the privilege of eating at some incredible restaurants around the world, so we are not the easiest to be impressed. It is always a balance between Service, Food and Price with location and ambiance often being less important to us. We will go back again.
Our server was great, the food was pretty good. The music was way too loud - hard to carry on a conversation.
Great steaks. Good menu selection. Little pricey, but you pay for what you get. Service was good, too.
The atmosphere was very romantic, the service was fantastic and the food was phenomenal!
The restaurant is really great, the server we had was amazing but the bill was outrageous. I know you’re getting great food but still.
Excellent service and food. Music was a little loud
Great food and atmosphere. Our server, Maggie, was very pleasant, attentive, and recommended excellent selections. Will definitely be back
We have eaten here three or four times. We were excited to see oysters back on the menu and they did not disappoint! We had a dozen chargrilled and a dozen of the Tom’s specials. They were so good I could make that a meal on its own! We decided to have fish for our entrees this time. My husband had the barramundi and I had the trout. They were both excellent! I loved my baked potato but husband’s fries were even better! I had a grapefruit vanilla cocktail that was so inspiring, I tinkered around and made another one at home! We finished our meal by splitting the bourbon banana cake which was excellent! Thank for the delicious meal!
We were sitting by a family that the young children each with their own gaming gadgets playing so loud we could barely hold a conversation with our party of 7 adults. We had Demetrius as our server, he was extremely attentive and welcoming. Unfortunately, the food was tasteless!! One pound of Alaska Crab legs what a disappointment. They had been thawed for a long time and boiled over done for that much longer when they came to the table there was no taste and they were dried out inside and we couldn’t even crack open. The escargot add tasteless they had been overdone. The butter sauce it’s supposed to be presented in a butter sauce with garlic, fresh spices it came out a butter and some dried spices with no taste. The shrimp cocktail was a tasteless defrosted small shrimp that had been defrosted for a long time. Grilled Chicken tasteless. Will never come back
I've been to Tom Brown's several times and while my experiences were generally good, I've noticed a downhill trend.
While I understand that this is striving to be a "fine dining" establishment, I couldn't help but wonder why my $57 dollar seafood plate consisted of nothing more than a slab of 4-5 ounces (after cooking) and one dollop of garlic mashed potatoes.
The presentation was very minimalist. Nothing more than a piece of fish and potatoes. For $57 dollars I expected my plate to look a little better than what I could have done at home with white paper plates and my backyard grill.
I was eating fish so I ordered a glass of the house Sauvignon blanc with my meal. Now, seeing that Tom Brown's seeks to be a fine dining establishment, I expected the house wine to be at least something beyond what would be available at a local Texaco Gas Station, but apparently I was hoping for too much.
It tasted like battery acid and I didn't have more than one sip. I didn't send it back, and I didn't complain to the server. I just didn't drink it. I considered it a lesson learned and made a mental note to "not order the house wine at Tom Brown's ever again".
Not to be too picky, but I also noticed that the nice tablecloths are gone. This created a very casual atmosphere, but perhaps TOO casual for a place that serves $57 dollar plates of fish and mashed potatoes.
In summary, while it may seem like I'm being very critical of Tom Brown's, and you're probably right. However, the point I'm trying to make is that if Tom Brown's is aiming to be a "fine dining" restaurant while charging the exorbitant prices, then it should also give their customers a fine dining experience that would justify it, which this restaurant is clearly not doing.
From the food, to the plating presentation, to the wine, to small details like the lack of tablecloths, Tom Brown's has really disappointed me in what you get for the price point.
It's fine dining prices, without the fine dining.
The food and service are amazing!
Excellent food and service
Justin was our waiter and he did and absolute amazing job explaining the menu and giving his presentation with the desserts the ambience of the table with the fire piece in the middle was great for my mom's birthday!
I love this place I will most definitely come back
3 star food (and décor) at 5 star prices. Under-seasoned, Over-rated, Over-priced.
Tom Brown is a wonderful experience in dining.
Fantastic food and service! Our waiter Justin was very attentive and had wonderful recommendations! We will be going back.
The service was great. Food was pretty good but overpriced even for a basic nice restaurant. They left the outdoor doors open so I kept getting bit by large mosquitoes. Much more casual than I expected which was fine. I would return.
Food fresh, courteous service and lots of smiles.
Service was prompt but somewhat hurried. Bread brought out with meal. Medium rare was actually Rare(cool red center).
Major problem was tip was to be added to total after AMEX was run. Never seen this before. Kept receipt to make sure bill is same as tip added to total
The food was excellent as well as the service. It is an upscale restaurant.
We’ve tried TB on two previous occasions. Those experiences weren’t much better. The most recent issues were:
- drink ordered were incorrect, not once, nor twice but three different times. Visually it was obvious the orders were incorrect and the waiter seemed to finally just give up.
- two of our guests ordered the Mahi Mahi. It came out grossly over cooked and tasteless.
- another guest ordered a steak medium rare. It came out basically raw. He gave up trying to send it back as the waiter disappeared.
- from a price value stance, the quality nor quantity of the food was justified by the price. Sadly, you’d receive better quality for much less from Applebee’s or Outback.
We won’t be back.
Fantastic! Our go-to place for out of town family and guests, Tom Brown’s was perfect for our weary travelers.
Our table was a table in the bar area, but actually an ideal relaxed atmosphere. Nathaniel was our server, and could not have been more genial, and accommodating.
The food was as impeccable as usual—from appetizers to soup & salad, from entrees to dessert! A great experience! Best of the best egg rolls, gumbo, French onion soup, wedge salad, scallops, salmon, and filet! Wow, what a fabulous meal!
Desserts included the creme brûlée, blueberry cheesecake, creme brûlée cheese cake, and a sweet dessert martini that is Nathaniel’s specialty.
TB’s is an area favorite, and has always been spectacular. But this particular evening was better than ever. Many thanks to the owners and their expert staff. No detail was too small or left undone.
Great server!!! A lot of fat on the steak though. I was pretty disappointed about that.
Food and service was fantastic!
As usual , a delightful evening for Us and my Sister’s Birthday .
Service, food , and ambiance were terrific
