The best food and casual dining experience in huntsvilke
My family and I went to Tom Brown's for the first (and last) time to celebrate my birthday. There were several issues with our experience.
Masks: Nearly all of the staff, including the two managers that stopped by our table to ask about our meal, wore their masks below their nose, rendering them effectively useless.
Drinks: Lots of beer on tap, but boy was it pricey. $9 for a 16 oz for many selections! For cocktails, I enjoy a good cocktail, but nearly every one offer was super sweet sounding. Almost every one had multiple juices or syrups in it, and they certainly weren't very creative. Also, the wine list is very sparse, and also pricey (many $14 per glass options!)
Food: I got fish because I was excited to have fresh fish in Huntsville! While it was tasty, I don't think it was worth the price tag of having it. My husband got the ribeye. It was very thin. Since he prefers his steaks blue rare, that was next to impossible to achieve with such a thin cut. Sorry, but Outback can do steaks better than that. Another family member got the fried shrimp. While they said it was tasty, there were only 8 small shrimp. For $18, that seemed unreasonable.
Service: Ok, but not overly attentive.
Overall: The food quality did not justify the price. I don't mind paying higher prices, if I am getting attentive service and high quality food, but that'd not the case at this place. Also, the mask wearing was unacceptable. We won't be back.
Staff was excellent and food was incredible! Best place we have eaten in Huntsville in years. Officially our new favorite restaurant.
Fish came out completely raw for both entrees. They did take it back and we received a new plate of food everthing was cooked but it was so salty we didnt finish it.
The best restaurant around here. The food and service was phenomenal. Will definitely be back!
Absolutely incredible. It’s the cutest restaurant! The decor the atmosphere it’s casual but with elegance! And the service and food are both so great! Adrien was our server and we HIGHLY recommend going when he’s working!
Excellent food and service
Our waitress (Mattilyn) was fantastic. My cocktail was one of the best I ever had (The Prickly Tickle). My husband’s fish was not his favorite but I think it was more personal preference. We will definitely be back!
Excellent everything! If you haven't been you don't know what you're missing.
We loved the style of the restaurant!
Very modern/cas/elegant!! The waiter was excellent! The food was amazing!! the manger GAVIN was very welcoming and helpful! I will definitely be back ♥️
Food and cocktails are amazing! Service and staff are outstanding.
Very nice staff and excellent service. Food was very average for the price and not the quality or creativity that was expected.
Our server Laura-Lin was amazing. She recommended the perfect stuff for us and made it a great dining experience.
We went for the first time on a Friday evening for our friend's birthday. Everyone so friendly and wishing her a happy birthday. And they didn't mind I brought balloons to tie to her chair. I ordered a drink I don't typically order and it wasn't quite to my liking. I think the waited was observant enough to tell and told the owners. They came to me and asked how my drink was. I was hesitant to say I didn't like it, because I'm not the type of person to complain about my food. They were super gracious and insisted I could order something else at no charge. The next drink was great! I highly recommend the Beached Cat. :) The appetizers were incredible!! The firecracker shrimp and Spicy Balls are to die for! And we all LOVED our meals. The service was outstanding and the food even better! The restaurant has a swanky, shabby chic kind of feel. Beautiful chandeliers and velvety chairs. Our experience could not have been better! Highly recommend!!!
Took my best friend for her birthday. Everyone was friendly and very attentive. Bartenders Nathaniel and Laura-lin were the best! Thank you for the best dinner experience.
The lighting and bar decor was very nice and unique. The music was an eclectic mix of heavy metal and pop dance music that didn’t match the pricing of the restaurant and was more appropriate for a bar/pub style restaurant. The food was satisfactory, but presentation was lacking. Overall, the food was over priced as the pricing was consistent with Ruth Chris Steakhouse. However, the food was not of the same caliber as Ruth Chris. Char seems to be a better value overall in this area. I hope the new owners make some changes, and if so, I would consider returning in the future. We would love to see them succeed, but changes are needed for this to be a restaurant where people return for an exceptional dining experience.
It was down right good. We will be returning very soon.
My party was seated outdoors as I requested. Due to the hour of day, the sun had not set so it was very hot in the direct sun. We were offered a different outdoor location but choose to remain in place. The sun soon and we proceeded to enjoy our dining experience at TomBrowns’.
steak was excellent and the garlic mashed potatoes were to die for.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner this past Wednesday evening. The service, food, and drinks were all spectacular! We had fried green tomatoes and drinks (old fashioned and strawberry mule) to start, steak for him, salmon for me (each came with a loaded baked potato) and dessert (cheesecake and banana toffee cake). I was very impressed with the social distancing measures in place. We sat on the patio and had a lovely, although balmy, dinner. And, with dessert, our server brought out complimentary Prosecco to celebrate. He was so friendly and went above and beyond all night! I look forward to visiting again!
Oh, two little details that I loved- the music (great mix of old and new) as well as the glassware (gorgeous glasses, even just for water). Nice touches that you don't see at most restaurants!
Tom Brown's is a wonderful celebration spot!
This restaurant is now one of my favorites in the Madison/Huntsville area. In my party of four, we tried the fried green tomatoes, crab claws, the pork egg rolls (AMAZING... made with collard greens and pork), spicy balls, redfish, ribeyes, filet, complementary bread, and drinks. Everything was delicious. Our waitress was very responsive and we got to meet Tom Brown himself. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Our waitress Isabella is the best.
The food is great! Fresh fish flown in weekly from Hawaii. The steaks were very good. I had the Wahoo fish and it was very good. The decor has a modern theme. An overall great experience.
Lovely decor, great service, excellent food. Tom Brown came out and spoke with us. Can’t wait for happy hour to start up. Pray for their success during this pandemic. Huntsville needs quality restaurants with great ambience!
Wonderful restaurant. This was our first visit and it will definitely not be our last. The service was outstanding, the food delicious and the restaurant itself is gorgeous. Every item on the menu looked so fabulous and delicious it was hard to decide what to have. We sat inside but the outside seating area is spacious and wonderfully decorated. The bar area is also a place to check out if wanting just to have drinks & apps.
I had an egg roll starter, gumbo soup with a ribeye and a lobster tail for the main course. The ribeye was nicely marbled, typically the rating would be USDA Prime with Moderately Abundant marbling. The down side was that it had a lot of connective tissue in it resulting in a cut that was difficult to cut and a bit of a challenge to chew. On a good ribeye the fat has a soft texture and adds a satisfying texture and flavor, in this case it was a distraction. It was prepared well and right about medium rare which is excellent to me. It was just disappointing to me from a sourcing standpoint. The lobster tail was reasonably well done, slightly overcooked in the 6th and 5th Abdomen Somite (nearest the fins) but quite good in the larger 2nd and 3rd. The baked potato all the way had a slightly unusual but highly pleasing flavor in it that was delightful. Also the gumbo was excellent as were the Mean Green Egg Rolls starter dish.
Service was exceptional; thanks Isabelle H. Food quality and presentation was very good.
The experience was great. I felt the food was overpriced.
The food was fresh and cooked perfectly. Atmosphere was beautiful. Service was wonderful- Amy (the waitress) was very attentive and we met the owner, Tom Brown- who is a very nice and upstanding guy. This is my new favorite place!
I came here for my birthday and Loved the atmosphere and decor. Very comfortable and inviting. The service was outstanding and I loved the fact that they were practicing social distancing and masks. I ordered the Tomahawk which was $99 and I must say I was disappointed. We ordered medium and expected a $99 steak to be cooked to perfection but it came out more rare and lacked seasoning. I mean zero salt outside of the signature butter which was good but not enough to compensate for the lack of salt on the steak. I had the wedge which was great and we both had the signature Hurricane which was awesome. They were willing to take the steak back and cook it but it needed a lot more than cooking to make it better. I took it home and seasoned it up and put it on the grill and it was fantastic. Salt is a miracle seasoning. Overall, I will give them another try and go for a smaller cut of meat like a fillet.
Loved loved the food. We couldn’t make up our mind so we ordered all appetizers! Amazing! Excellent service and great drinks!
Celebrating a Birthday
Tom Brown’s definitely surpassed our expectations. Everything was amazing from decor, ambiance, and food!
Attentive staff and original drink menu makes for a great evening out. Save room for dessert at it is wonderful
Exceptional food and service. Will return for other special occasions in the future
Great place to dine. I will definitely be going back. The food and service was so good!
Amazing service, wonderful atmosphere and excellent food. Will definitely return
Adrian was great! We had a great time, good food. Mrs Ashley came to say hello. Also had good drinks!
A little pricey, but you get what you pay for!
Music was super loud, sat outside on patio.. could use some fans for sure out there especially on humid hot summer nights. Food was great, drinks were good. On the pricy side but it was nice
