Welcome to Toloache (pronounced toh-lo-AH-tchay), chef-owner Julian Medina's contemporary Mexican bistro located in the Upper East Side. Toloache is named after a flowering plant famed in Mexico for its use in love potions. We hope that when you dine with us you too will fall under the spell of chef Medina's creative cooking, which incorporates seasonal and natural ingredients and more than a dozen types of chilies. Along with the authentic Mexican menu and an exceptional tequila list, we offer elegant decorative elements imported from Mexico. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Always a tasty experience, from authentic guacamole to veggie-crunchy fish tacos- a joy! But, a struggle to get seated in the front dining room, what does it take???

Food was delicious but i felt overpriced. They also brought ceviche (which was ordered as a main course) out to the table 15 minutes before all the other warm food. not expectable!

Great food as always. Margarita was mediocre and quite expensive at $18 for a glass mostly full of ice

very good, out of the ordinary food based on unique recipes. interesting tequila and mezcal-based cocktails. very attentive service. a little pricey but good value because the food is way, way better than average. definitely recommended for a new UES dining experience.

Had the Cod for the 3rd time. It’s really a fabulous dish. Perfectly cooked every time. The skirt steak is amazing and flavorful. Love the Brussel sprouts as a side.

Oh ....and the choice of tequila awesome!

Service was terrible - waiter was inattentive and in addition just plain rude. the table for 5 was next to the service station and thruway...not ideal. Food was not that great and lacked flavor and finesse. Very disappointing as previous experiences had been positive.

They rush you through dinner to seat the next customer. For this price range, we’d like to sit and leisurely enjoy our meal, not be rushed out in 30 minutes, especially on a Friday night. This happens every time we come to this restaurant.

Consistently the best Mexican food in the most inviting setting, with staff and managers that really know the meaning of hospitality!! I love this place!

Our dinner was delicious, but the price tag wasn't the greatest. Mostly stay away from the quesadillas - not worth the money! My dining partner had the Pollo Toloache and it was very good - warm, well-cooked, expertly flavored. He enjoyed his margarita as well. I had Mexican Coke, which was a nice treat. Mostly I'd say go for the big plates if you're in the mood to eat!

Probably the best guacamole we have ever eaten. This was our second visit in a week after a recommendation by a friendly dog walker on the street. Great margaritas with an amazing tequila selection. Very good service.

I highly recommend this restaurant. It is a little expensive for as small Mexican restaurant but it is worth it. It's comfortable, and the food is delicious. The service was very good as well. Overall a very pleasant place to dine

Always enjoy the food and ambience at Toloache, and the signature house Margarita.
Service is charming - the restaurant is small so the tables are tight, and sometimes noise from other tables is intrusive, but we can usually be moved to a quieter spot. Bar is energetic and fun, but somehow noise level is less! We love Toloache for brunch on the weekend.

Very good. Good reliable dishes. Stick with the favorites/ classics. We tried the Mexican latkes and a tequila cream aperitif.. not sure what we were thinking. Still love it.

Toloache has a very cozy and fun ambiance. The guacamole is incredible, which to me is a sign of a good Mexican restaurant. However, we were disappointed by the enchiladas - the meal costs $22 for two enchiladas, and it doesn't even come with rice and beans (you pay an extra $6-12 for your side). So in my opinion, this place is extremely overpriced given the meal and just the restaurant overall did not justify the cost.
