Welcome to Toloache (pronounced toh-lo-AH-tchay), chef-owner Julian Medina's contemporary Mexican bistro located in the Upper East Side. Toloache is named after a flowering plant famed in Mexico for its use in love potions. Excellent as always Daniel and his team of hostesses are on the ball. Perla and Rafael are the best bartenders. Service was terrific. Wait staff and bus staff were excellent. Water was always quickly replenished.

While the menu may be labeled as Mexican, in addition to standout standard dishes like the chicken enchiladas, it also features a number of incredibly eclectic blends of flavors. We made this a stop before date night at the Met and it worked wonderfully. The portions were far from scant yet not overwhelming. Would definitely return to sample more fare.

Wondering lunch after Toloache UES. The jicama salad was fresh and delicious. The salmon was cooked to perfection. And the chocolate cake was heaven. My server Marcael was exceptional, and made sure that everything was perfect. Look forward to returning.

Toloache (east) has become our favorite Mexican on the UES. The food is always top notch, the patrons are a cross section of the neighborhood in its most relaxed moment. We recommend it very highly.

Fantastic! Passed by so many times and so glad that we finally made a reservation (a must!) — such a great dining experience. Was pleasantly surprised that the seating extended so far back in the restaurant and that they have beautiful back patio. The cuisine was outstanding, the ambience was perfect. We couldn’t have had a better experience. We will definitely be back soon!

As always, Toloache is one of my very favorite restaurants. My grandson has been there before and requested to go there again and we had a really incredible evening. He’s 19 and in college and appreciates the variety and quality and deliciousness of everything we have. Daniel, the manager is always such a pleasure to be with, and runs a really top-notch restaurant. I tell all my friends about the restaurant, and they are all agree with me. It is one of the best in New York

Great reception by hostess Vanessa and Julianna. Daniel the supreme manager always looks after us and Perla at bar is the best. Food very tasty and well prepared. Hot food is hot and cold food cold.

Seated imemdiately and service spot on. food served hot as needed and even the chips were warm. excelllent choice of tequila's with a very lively bar and people eating at the bar. nice outdoor option should you choose. Daniel the manager is hands on making sure every customer is satisfied.

I bought a new friend to Toloache for dinner, and we both thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. Mexican food gets a bad rap, but Toloache provides the freshest ingredients and very creative Mexican food. It is always on my list of favorite restaurants.

Always Delicious food. There is a special Mexican Independence Day menu this weekend, in addition to the regular menu. We ordered the Chile en Nogada and it was Fabulous! Perfect! Really authentic. A must have! Plus excellent guacamole and tacos.

Was in the back part of the restaurant on a Wednesday night, extremely loud, all tables full but the noise does not drown out well, the noise was unbearable and couldn’t wait to scarf food down and get out. Food was really salty and the water couldn’t keep coming fast enough to hydrate from the salt. Spent $140 with tip on a carne asada, two tacos and two drinks.

The food was fine, honestly, the service was pretty awful. After waiting about 10 minutes even speak to my wait person, it took another 15 mins to get the drink I ordered. It took around 45+ mins for the food to arrive. We had ordered more drinks in the interim, which never appeared until we reminded the waitress (when she finally blessed us with our dinner). It wasn't busy at all, so there was no obvious reason for such poor service. I have always liked Toloache in the past, but last night was a pretty miserable experience from beginning to end
