Always a delight to go to Toloache on the UES. Service is amazing. Food is so delicious. Margaritas are tasty and strong. Stay for dessert. Never be disappointed.

I had a great experience. We were seated promptly upon our arrival. The wait service was excellent and the food was outstanding. It was not too noisy and we were able to hear and talk to our friends easily. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Out of the dozen or so times my family has eaten there the food and service has always been outstanding. This last time the service was horrible. One off day, or off server, doesn't reflect how reliably great this place is usually. We'll definitely go back and try again before writing it off.

Food is an eclectic mix of ingredients and we always have an excellent meal here!

Toloache is delicious, but bring your ear plugs because it is loud. Tables are close together so a noisy neighbor can interfere with your pleasant meal. But overall service is excellent and food is delicious.

Food was exceptional as always. Especially enjoyed the creamy rice w/ scallops. I would say my children used to love building their quesadillas at the table and were very disappointed that this is no longer an option. It was something they always looked forward to and we hope it comes back.

We were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation time, and given a choice of two tables.
The menu is varied and not your "typical" Mexican fare, but something for everyone. The truffle quesadilla was amazing. My husband had the steak tacos for his entree and loved them. The waiter pointed out that there were only two in an order as they are appetizers, so he recommended my husband order two orders, and he was spot on. I had the wild salmon on the menu and it was spicy and the broth (which I love) it was in was delicious. Our friend had the Carne Asada, and loved it. Service was fast and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this restaurant! We can't wait to go back.

A disappointment. The guacamole ordered as extremely spicy was only moderately so. The huitlacoche quesadilla was modest in size and the huitlacoche was sparse. The tacos camarones found the shrimp so overcooked that they lacked flavor and texture. The carnitas were delightful.

This is a fun place with a sophisticated take on Mexican ingredients and techniques. It’s noisy because of glazed tile walls . The crowd is young and diverse by UES standards. Flavors are spicy but unthreatenng and the quality is consistently good. Specialty cocktails, small plates and a variety of guacamoles invite grazing before, or as an alternative to, the substantial main courses. This time I came with a wheelchair user. Although the restaurant was wildly busy, the staff were welcoming and had saved an easily accessible table for us. In good weather, there is seating in a pleasant back garden.

Eh. Way worse food quality then I could remember. Tacos and quesadilla ok just ok. The paella was extreme over cooked and extremely dry. The lobster couldn’t even be cut to eat. I didn’t complain and they never even asked why all the food was left? Odd.......

Excellent variety of tacos, in particular, the shrimp tacos and beef tacos were outstanding.
Paella was lackluster. Would go back just for the tacos and some appetizers.

We were asked 4 times if we wanted more cocktails. It became annoying.

Everything was great. Beautiful ambience. Delicious food. However, Portion size a bit small for the price. A little more noisy than I would have liked.
The soda I had was not as bubbly as I would have liked. I had it replaced, but still not good enough.

The food at Toloache is excellent and for this reason, as well as the attentive service, I would go again. It best not slip, though, because for food even slightly less good I would not put up with the noise...

On the almost polar opposite side, the noise level is nearly unbearable. It's hard to imagine a restaurant this good not caring at all about this part of the dining experience. The noise - impossible to have a conversation across the table with more than one person - detracts significantly.

TOLOACHE is the best Mexican restaurant ever. We live near Boston and Toloache is always
A Must whenever we come to NY. The food is delicious whether you want spicy or not, the staff is always warm and welcoming and the GUAC is to die for.

We don’t normally try Mexican places while on holiday, since we worry they won’t taste authentic- not a concern here! Toloache offers amazing Mexican food - to be specific, the Guacamole, the carne asada, and OMG the creamy side rice- not to mention the Churros, the Flan, so pretty much everything we tried was on the great side. The drinks were outstanding, and the service very courteous and friendly- I took points off value, just because the 14 dollar tacos seemed overpriced, but NY in general is that way, so no surprises there - full marks on everything else

food is well prepared and very good. I took my 76 yrs old friend there for dinner and on the reservation site I mentioned the it was my friend’s birthday...but no attention was paid ...!
So do not go there for special occasion..also, stay away on friday night, very crowded and loud...they said sunday night is best...I will return, but not on my birthday nor friday !

Party of 3 was sorely disappointed with this not inexpensive restaurant. We had been at our table for 2 hours when an employee came to our table and aggressively stated we had "been at the table since 6 (reservation was for 7:15) and they needed to turn the table". There are so many ways of politely letting dinners know it was a busy night (Restaurant Management 101), this was not one. When we responded that we had not been there since 6 and, while capable of understanding a polite inquiry as to our timing, did not feel his behavior was respectful in any way, he became more aggressive.
There are so many good restaurants in NYC. Find some place else.

Toloache is a mainstay in our neighborhood rotation of restaurants; the food is great, they have an interesting list of margaritas and high-end tequilas, and the staff members are friendly and attentive.

The chef mixes the usual staple of soft tacos (all of which are delicious) with some enticing traditional Mexican dishes and fusion offerings, so it is easy to eat here time and time again and not get bored with the menu.

It can be difficult to get a table on a Friday or Saturday night, but early in the week generally is ok. I recommend it highly for a couple or a group; fun place that should be around for quite some time to come.

Loved the food . The service was good except it was hard to get him to tell us what are the most popular dishes or recommendations since it was our first time. The only thing I didn’t like was the avocado fries. They were paired with ketchup not very good at all needed salads or something more Mexican. But the spicy lobster taco and the truffle quesadilla amazing plus the shrimp main course. We loved it!!
