Toloache Thompson St.
What a nice surprise. Went there on Mother’s Day and as a treat my entrée was free. Very generous restaurant. Food was delicious. Some of the best salsa I ever tasted.
Food = excellent
Waitress = one of the best
Brunch special = the city’s best kept secret
Will FOR SURE be back!!
It was Cinco de Mayo and a little crazy!
The steak tacos tasted sweet like they had maple syrup on them. Not good at all. Food was sub par for the prices.
I have been coming to Toloache for years. Fun spot for bottomless brunch with friends. Service is a bit slow but would still recommend going.
Why is the first margarita always better than the second? Besides that, the food is solid and it’s usually easy to get a table. A neighborhood go-to.
They were super great about celebrating a birthday and even had the tres leches made! Thoughtful staff.
Overly spiced and overly salted food. Some food delivered cold. Filling the water glasses does not equal good service. Expensive for what is received.
the food quantity is small but very delicious. The service is amazing
Love Toloache in the theater district, so thought we’d try this one. Lively and energetic on a Friday night in the Village! Food was good, margaritas were ok..not as spicy as advertised and could have used a bit more tequila for the price.
Overall, would recommend as a fun Mexican spot in the Village!
My friend and I came to celebrate our birthday and have brunch here. This restaurant has bottomless brunch for $19 unlimited drinks certain one for 1 1/2 hr. This sounds like great deal right it is only if you could get the waiter attention. The place was empty only 3 tables occupied beside our table. My friend had to kept raising her hand to get the waiter attention like we was in school. We was only able to get 3 drinks in the 1 1/2 that we was there because even after putting in our order for 1 drink it took very long time. Maybe this is their way not to serve to many drinks to the customers but it’s called unlimited for a reason. I didn’t to ask for one last drink before my time was up. I called the waiter we’ll wave to him several times to come to our table after not sure how long he tells me my time is up for a last drink. I told him I’ve been trying to get your attention for quite some time now so it’s not my fault. I cant begin to understand why if the restaurant is empty the staff can not be more attentive. There was a point that I had to ask one of the employees that was cleaning up the other table to please tell my waiter to come to our table. The food was great but the service was very horrible. I will continue to go to your midtown location better service.
Good Mexican food beautiful place, but really noisy.
great over all restaurant for friends outing or a quick hangout !
Fabulous food and margaritas. Some of the best I have had.
It’s a neighborhood place for us. It’s always great food and friendly, efficient staff.
We were a group of six and everyone enjoyed the food and cocktails. We were seated upstairs, which is where they put the larger tables and the noise level was a bit extreme. The Shrimp Toloache was excellent as were the various beef dishes. Next time I will come with fewer people and sit downstairs where the ambiance seems nicer
Great location in the village! Staff was pleasant and provided great service. Fish Tacos, fruit guac and house margaritas were perfect!
I love Toloache! The food is so delicious and the energy of the place is always so lively. We were seated upstairs on a Saturday and the room was filled with birthday dinners and big groups. Ordered the Tumbada (Vera Cruz style paella) and I think that’s my favorite dish, now having it twice. We had the shrimp tacos, elote and plantains which were all delicious! Will definitely bring my friends here again.
We were seated 40 minutes late despite having a 9pm reservation. While it turned out fine because our plans after dinner were flexible, it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.
The food was great but the servers seemed more interested in talking to each other and having fun then they were in actually service.
Birthday! They surprised us with a delicious dessert! De la Calle Cucumber margarita was refreshing!
Excellent food, shockingly fast service, and a pleasant ambiance. Prices were a little high for a full dish, but the food was very high quality, so I didn't mind.
Tasty tacos! Good guac. The margs were on the sweeter side.
Organized a dinner for my sisters bachelorette party. Service was great as was the food and margaritas. They were even able to accommodate some dietary restrictions. The only downside was the noise level was very high- I was lip reading the girls across the table. Overall good experience! Just an FYI— more than half of the tables are up two flights of steep stairs— beware!
I knew they had grasshopper tacos on the menu, which is a bit of a novelty and something I've never tried, so we came in. Tacos weren't bad, but I was rather disappointed in the portion sizes in general for the price charged. On average $15 for two tiny appetizer sized tacos with no side dishes... I could spend half that at my local taqueria in BK and come out stuffed to the gills with tacos. No complaints about the ambience or the service; both were quite nice, just not worth the exorbitant menu prices.
Great menu, good sized portions. AYCD option is well worth the up charge.
Service was great! Food was amazing!! Highly recomend!!!
We brought our daughter for her Birthday but have been many times and it never disappoints the short rib taco is amazing.
Such a wonderful restaurant with great customer service and ambiance! Delicious food, great portions, and excellent attention to each table even though it was quite packed. Truly an exceptional dining experience. It was as lively and warm as its delicious meals. I highly recommend the skirt steak, shrimp tacos and the flan!
Exceptional service and masterful bartenders.
Cramped, very noisy, very average food. Service excellent.
First of all, the hostess could have cared less about us. I had made notes that it was my husbands birthday and that we would like a quiet table upstairs.. she said the upstairs was closed (10 minutes later and before we were even waited on, the hostess started seating people upstairs. She really did not care where she sat us and seemed to have an attitude. There was only 1 waitress working and she didn’t even come to our table for 10 minutes to take a drink order. She was very rushed all the time and rushed us to take our orders. The food was good, the flavors were nice. My calamari was over cooked and rubbery. My husbands black cod was very good he said. If he service wasn’t so lacking we’d probably go back again.
Four friends celebrating two birthdays was our excuse to visit Toloache Thompson St., and everyone was glad we did. The food is definitely a cut above ordinary run-of-the-mill Tex-Mex; the drinks are interesting, delicious, and well-made; the service is friendly and attentive; and the clientele is diverse. There are options for vegetarians and vegans, as well as plenty for omnivores. Toloache is a bit pricier than similar restaurants, but I think it's worth a few extra bucks for the quality and variety of the ingredients.
heehe it wasgood i enjoyed the food but the portion a little smal~
Toloache on Thompson is by far one of the best meals I've had in Manhattan! The bottomless brunch was a great value and the food was unique and flavorful. I had the Suadero (braised brisket) tacos and the Rojo guacamole. The tacos were infused with a delicious blend of traditional Mexican cuisine spices, and topped with an interesting, yet subtle horseradish crema - every bite was heavenly; the guac was a delightful blend of fresh avocado and just the right amount of chipotle seasoning, not overstated one bit, then paired with a queso fresco that is out of this world! Attentive service, perfect portions, tasty food - I loved this meal and highly recommend it!
I am super picky when it comes to food, but this place was FANTASTIC! We ordered the shrimp quesadillas, plaintains, and the Veracruz paella. Everything was so ridiculously fresh and delicious, not oily, or fattening; as I've experienced with some mexican restaurants. I would go back in a heart beat. The wait staff was so attentive, the venue was really lively and great music was playing. There was a really nice bar you could sit at, if you just wanted drinks. I only had wine, but don't doubt the cocktails would be great. This is definitely in my top 5 favorite NYC mexican restaurants.
Fine for young people. Too crowded and noisy for older clients.
Good for drinks. Food was small portions and decent.
