The brunch experience with outdoor dining was wonderful. The food was really good snd everything was reasonably priced. We did an hour of unlimited drinks but they were really nice drinks like a mango margarita and fresh sangria. My small group had a great time. Highly recommend for excellent food, drinks snd service.
My partner and I enjoyed this place so much we can't stop talking about the beef short ribs tacos! I planned this dinner for my partner and I and was worried as I was running late. When I called to notify them, they were so understanding. We were seated in one of the huge doorways luckily it was still a bit warm, but I was thankful that we had access to fresh air.
We had two waiters a male and female, they provided us with exceptional service. They weren't too overbearing but accommodated us in just the right way.
The food was mouthwatering and from our seat, we could see the chef preparing it. We first started with the Queso Fundido and were very pleased with the warmth of the dish and the chorizo's pops of spice. I have had this dish in several places and they tend to be oily and cold-- NOT here. The manchego was nutty and melted just right, the flour tortillas were fresh and soft.
We shared two orders of the beef short ribs and carne asada. Honestly, they were to die for! Succulent to the point of the meat falling off the bone. The spices were deeply embedded in the beef and sauce, which created a delicious array of flavors. I had never had beef short rib tacos that were that appetizing. The bone marrow must off added an extra layer of richness, I can't even describe it, you just have to try it! The carne asada tacos were just as mouthwatering and layered in flavor. My sopa de tortilla was so warm and comforting. It had the right balance between the tomato & guajillo and the crema, cheese, and avocado was a nice finish.
Please support this business as they take pride in their food!
I got there and it was closed.
I always like this place. The food is always good and the service was particularly warm and attentive on the night we were there. We were sitting outside because of Covid and it was pouring rain but the umbrellas kept us mostly dry.
Best service, super cute outdoor setting. Best drinks and tacos!! Our favorite place in SoHo!
Fresh ingredients, attentive service
Great outdoor dining during Covid!
We made a reservation and the restaurant was closed when we arrived
Great place to celebrate a special occasion with friends. The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. FYI - the Thompson St. location is super cute but it's a little small so be mindful planning meals for large groups. We were a party of 9 and it was a little snug sitting around the table but the wait staff was super fast with our drink orders and kept the chips and salsa coming while we waited for other appetizers and entrees. We had a great time.
This is a very good Mexican restaurant --part of a chain that is reliable for delicious food. We would rate it higher, but in this market, others are more inventive or have bolder flavors truer to Mexico. But it is not Tex Mex--it is really Mexican food and delicious.
Nice ambience. Attentive service. Sub par food particularly for vegetarians.
The service was fantastic, and much of the food was creative and well-executed. The fish tacos were a bit light on fish and heavy on creamy topping. But everything else was excellent.
I took my parents there for a Friday night dinner. It was very nice! Food was tasty and drinks were good. The dessert wasn’t too special and food was good but nothing out-of-this-world kinda thing. Overall good, not amazing!
The service was amazing, best I’ve seen in the 7 years I’ve lived in NYC.
The food was delicious. For appetizers we got the tip guacamole which was perfect to share between the four of us! For dinner I got the enchiladas which were amazing. For a drink I got the cucumber jalapeño margarita, I loved it! It was just the spicyness I needed for the meal! All the staff were polite and friendly!
When we visit the city we always have a dinner at Toloache, this time the one on Thompson Street. As always, the food, service and atmosphere were outstanding. (Also great options for celiacs, with excellent knowledge and care for allergies). Our server had high energy, knowledge of the menu, care around allergies and the kitchen was great, as always.
Food, ambiance and drinks are solid; nonetheless the server service sucks. I came with my girlfriend for valentines to this place and server never asked if drinks were good or not, same thing with the food. After we finished the appetisers, we waited for him to come back to take our order and finally when he came; he was not even polite. Dessert and one more round of drinks, was never offered to us; reason why we asked for the check. That one came fast, but again we had to hand the check to the server because he never came back.
I tipped well just because I love the food and Bussers service. I recommend to improve the service.
So glad to know about this version of Toloache (have been to the midtown restaurant several times, and to other of Medina's restaurants – all consistently good!). Lovely spot – this building, nicely renovated, brick walls, etc. – in a part of the city where one always hopes to find a good meal (but is often disappointed). Loved the food – ample portions and quite delicious. Waitstaff was friendly and efficient. Got in and out for a show with plenty of time to spare. Will definitely come back here.
Quality seems to have declined significantly.
Great food & good drinks. Fresh guacamole.
Good drinks! Food is what you’d expect
Delicious and fun. It was kinda cold in the space, though...
A great non-traditional approach to Mexican cuisine. Highly recommended.
The food is always delicious here - we especially love the guacamole, which is consistently good no matter the location. We were a group of 7, but the service was attentive and the food came out quick and hot.
This location is definitely quieter than the one on 50th Street - very different vibe downtown. But that made this all the better for our group, so we could hear ourselves talk!
Also, they have many more gluten free options than their menu gives them credit for - so definitely ask! And there is a separate vegetarian menu so ask for that as well if needed.
Good service, food and drinks. A good time all around!
It was good. Good food picks by the chef and the drinks.
Great food and ambiance
This is by far the best Mexican food that I have found in New York and I have been searching for 2 years.
The margaritas were perfect. The rojo guacamole was incredibly delicious. The suckling pig carnitas tacos, the brisket tacos, and the chicken enchiladas were all flavor-filled and yummy. The ambience is not fancy but also not too casual – it was a nice balance.
Toloache is the best authentic haute cuisine Mexican food in NYC
Expensive. Suckling pig carnitas, and the enchiladas, were delicious. The vegetarian quinoa platter, one of the entrees, would have been at most an appetizer course. The waitress should have warned us of that. Chips and dip are an extra $4. They really push the guacamole, which is decent but nothing to write home about.
Great food service and ambience!
A major disappointment!
I visited Toloache on Thompson Street for a leisurely brunch with a friend and was pleased by the entire experience. The service was superb; knowledgeable, friendly, attentive without hovering or rushing. The food was delicious. We didn't have drinks or appetizers, but the selection was terrific. I would happily come back.
Enjoy the dinner out. The margaritas went very quickly! Love the guacamole… I would go back but not for a full meal, just snacks and drinks
Great. Everyone enjoyed their food. Service was great.
Great food and service. Excellent, fresh Margarita.
Great place to have a dinner with friends. My friend and I chose this place for Restaurant week. The food was great. The tacos árabes made me very nostalgic since I only have been able to eat those in Puebla, Mexico. My friend ordered the milanesa de pollo for her entree and the papas with rajas on top of the Milanesa was very delicious. It also reminded me of my mom’s cooking, since she makes milanesas de pollo and rajas con crema. Big thank you to the waiter for recommending my salmon to be cooked medium well. It tasted so good! I would definitely come back. Very curious to try out their margaritas.
