Toloache was absolutely incredible! From the world-class service to the best tacos I've eaten in my entire life...hands down, my favorite place to eat in NYC!
Went for dinner after a show. The service and the food were great! Nice atmosphere!
Excellent restaurant! The food was amazing, the staff very attentive, and took great care of us! Made sure we made curtain call! Highly recommend!
The service was pleasant as always but it seems the food has lost some of its flavor. Meals were well presented but the flavor I’ve become accustomed to has waned. Perhaps it was an off night. Would try again as it’s normally a winner.
The restaurant was extremely busy when we arrived but we were seated quickly. The service was quick and efficient. Water was brought and replenished without any need to ask. The menu is interesting and innovative, I.e no sign of Fajitas, initially disappointing but compensated for by varied dishes. Plate sizes are adequate without going over the top. The atmosphere was lively, we were seated on the upper level where the low ceiling and tables in close proximity added to the buzz of the place.
If there was a slight downside it was extremely warm in the restaurant and the minimal lighting forced us to use our phone torches to see the print on the menu. It was interesting to see that some of the Waiters were using lights to identify the tables to direct the food orders.
The restaurant is in a great location close to most Broadway Theatres, and we would go again when we visit New York.
Food and service were very good. Cute restaurant. Great option before a show.
Lovely staff and yummy food, this good Pre theater Mexican is tasty!
The food is always delicious and service is always friendly and courteous. Toloache is bustling and hectic with a high noise level, but the staff stays calm and efficient.
Always good food and service!! Going back next week! Great place for pre theater dinner and drinks!
This was our second time at Toloache. We enjoy it very much, and recommend it to other people.
We had the "medium spicy" guacamole which has tropical fruits. Quite tasty and a different take that is definitely worth a try. For the main courses we had the Camarones Toloache and the Carnitas con Mole. Both excellent - very tasty and nice presentations. Excellent spicy cabbage with the carnitas. For dessert you have to try the 15-layer crepes. It has a delicious caramel sauce - a real must try.
The restaurant gets very busy and space is a bit tight but it's sufficiently comfortable. We were not rushed at all. Service was attentive and the server offered great suggestions.
Very convenient location (50th St at 8th Ave) for midtown theater, New York City Center, Carnegie Hall, and Feinsteins / 54 Below.
Very nice ambiance from the moment we walked in until we left. Went to this restaurant to celebrate my father's 91st Birthday. I've been to this location before and he enjoyed the restaurant so I brought him back. Everyone was so accommodating to him & joyful. Made him feel great. Food was delicious. We enjoyed the guacamole very much. Our carne asada was delicious and done the way we liked it. Their toloache martini was devine. Thank you for a very nice time .
Coming here for nearly 10 years and food and service are great..however this time the tables were packed so close together it made for a sub-par experience. The 6 inches between tables is just not enough. If I return it will be at non-peak/packed times.
Very good but items I’ve had there before were not as remembered.
Pricey for certain items and portions.
I keep going back here and I am never ever disappointed--brunch lunch or dinner (though a bit too noisy for me in the evenings)
This was one of my favorite meals while in NYC. Our waiter was very attentive and the food was amazing! The place was packed so you absolutely need a reservation. My biggest complaint was even with a reservation we were sat at the worst table right by the bathrooms and in the way of the server walkway. I feel with a reservation we should have been sat at a nicer table away from this very uncomfortable area. It looked like there was a beautiful seating area upstairs which would have showcased the windows and the gorgeous lighting fixtures that Toloache has hanging down. Bummer there so I will request upstairs next time. However a couple awesome margaritas later and a delectable entree with an unbelievably decadent Toloache chocolate cake dessert and you really won’t care where you are seated!
Pre theater. Quick service.. Loved the sampler of ceviche. Carnitas tacos delicious
This was a great find in the Theater District. Food was amazing and service was great, though we ate early before the crowd showed up as we had a show to catch. The margarita list looked good but unfortunately only had time for one. Service was very good as well. I would definitely go back for a full dinner upon a return to NYC.
I keep returning to Toloache and will continue to do so! I had been there when it was new and my children were young. But now, they’re adults and one is moving to Massachusetts, and this was bon voyage lunch, and the perfect place!
Great spot!! My wife and I loved it will be back for sure!!!
Food was excellent. Service was great. Very noisy and crowded but would go back in a minute.
Good food, small portions, tables on top of each other, lovely service
The food was good but definitely pricey. The Toloache margarita was good. The only other problem is the seats are stacked very closely together so it’s tough to move in and out and it feels very cluttered.
Food and drinks were good. Guacamole trio is delicious. Service was great. A bit overpriced but you pay for the location. Tables are too jammed in. Literally no room to move.
Food was good. Service was very good. Crowded and noisy, but hey! It’s NYC!!
Hubby and I were on date night.
We enjoyed the fruitasgucamole,
I had the white sangria it was delicious.
Our main meal was fantastic. I highly recommend the Hailbut.dessert was a broad pudding and cafe olla.
Wait staff super courteous & helpful. Great vibe!!! Excellent food.
The food was good. But, the service could have been better. The bus boys try to rush your dinner experience and were no very polite. Also, the noise level can be overwhelming. Glad I visited. But, I will not be back.
Excellent Mexican food and drinks and very friendly service. Great for pre-theater. At peaks hours, it’s fairly noisy — people are having a good time and the tables are close together.
Excellent food and service. Guacamole & short rib quesadilla delicious
We had a Saturday lunch here before a matinee. It was just the experience we were looking for: casual but with a stylish feel, tasty food (the lobster tacos were excellent), and reasonably priced. The service was good, too, although they seemed eager to have us leave the table after an hour and 15 minutes.
Food was AMAZING and service very fast and pleasant.
They seems have a bit discriminating culture of Asian group - they chose the end tables even we asked to choose better location - and they didn’t assign others to that tables.
My wife and I travel to NYC for our anniversary to take in plays and NYC. This has become a regular place for us. The ambiance is really great. One wall is a two story mosaic that is really a work of art. So is the food. My wife really likes Mexican food. I only like it when they really do more than what you can get in any restaurant that provides Mexican faire. This is one of those places. Tight quarters but don’t be afraid to speak with your neighbors. We have found a reluctant few that didn’t at least like to exchange views in dishes. They have a policy that other restaurants have in town in terms asking if you are trying to make a play. They can certainly get you there on time, but why rush. The Margaritas are great!
The gluten free options are great here. We highly recommend it
The best guacamole we’ve ever had! Make sure to get the trio (even though it’s a little crazy $$$). The lobster tacos were really delicious, as well as everything else we tried.
VERY ACCOMMODATING ABOUT CHANGES TO SIDES AND SPECIAL REQUESTS FOR PREPARATION TO BE GRILLED INSTEAD OF FRIED.
My 14-year-old granddaughter and I had a pre-theater lunch prior to attending a performance of Mean Girls. We began with outstanding guacamole and home made tortilla chips which we enjoyed immensely. My granddaughter had the lobster tacos and I had the fish tacos and agreed both were delicious. We ended with cappuccino and the Toloache chocolate crunch cake! Yum! All in all, we enjoyed a superb lunch at Toloache!
Food was excellent! Try the truffles quesadilla
The food itself was good but the service we received was horrible. Our waiter took 20 mins to come take our order and then got our appetizers wrong. Our dinner was good one of the dishes was not what we expected while the other was amazing. Dessert was great but it took 25 mins for us to get it. We were asked to move to a different table during our dinning experience. Our check was given and taken from us very fast and the waiter expected to have at least a 20% tip. Which would have been fine except we were ignored the whole time. I wouldn’t go back
Outstanding as always! In the many times we've eaten here we have never been met with anything but an amazingly wonderful experience. An absolute must in the city!
