One of the few restaurants I go to everytime I am in the city
Great food and service
Authentic Mexican with flair. We loved everything!
Toloache has been so consistent with delicious food, guac, margaritas over the years; it's such a pleasure to bring new people and have them enjoy everything. Great food, fantastic margaritas!
Toloache was recommended to me by a friend for pre-show dining. It was perfect — the outdoor seating in private rooms was the perfect combination of privacy and open-air dining. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We will be recommending this to friends.
Although the website features white tablecloths and an inviting ambiance, Toloache has neither. It is very noisy. So much so that it was near impossible to have a conversation. But the food was delicious and the service very good.
Great restaurant. Away from tourist. No offense but as a New York I like going out to eat and finding restaurants with great food and ambiance and some happen to be in busy tourist destination areas in the city. This one is just what we needed. The food is fantastic. We had the guacamole, fresh and tasty. I had the shrimp tacos and my friend had the lobster tocos. Yummy yummy. And the portions are also great. Service was great. We did not feel rushed which now a days is gold. I didn’t try the drinks but I will next time. Nice for brunch or date night.
This was my second visit to Toloach and both times I waited for 15+ minutes to be seated despite having a reservation. The food, cocktails, and proximity to Broadway shows can't be beat, but the inability to accommodate reservations on time is a real liability.
Very enjoyable post Theatre dinner experience. We will be back!
Food was really good. We got the ceviche, bone marrow quesadilla, guac and chips, and the shrimp with pineapple quesadilla. All delicious! I wanted a spicy margarita but it fell a bit flat on the spice level, wouldn’t order that again but my fiancé got the Mezcalita de pina and that I would definitely recommend! All and all, thumbs up.
Great food and service!!
We love coming here pre-theater…Great food, drinks & service!
Food is amazing. Service was not so great and it wasn't awfully busy. He forgot the drinks and took forever to take our orders. He never checked on us. But the staff was nice overall.
Nice little place near the Gershwin. Good service & ambience. Would probably have like the food more if I was familiar with real Mexican cuisine, but it was okay. The other patrons seemed to enjoy it.
The food was meh, the service was good. Food quality I’d compare it to Mad-Mex quality, if anyone is not familiar, not that great. Definitely expected better portions and food quality for the amount of money that was paid. Wouldn’t recommend going there at all. Might as well hit Taco Bell. - just my opinion.
This place is excellent and consistent.
Always fresh, delicious food that literally melts in your mouth, and the margaritas are fab. A lovely spot that we love to frequent when in NYC.
We made a reservation for 6:15 before a Broadway show. I arrived 5 minutes late, which is on me, and there was a very long line waiting to be seated. By the time the hostess got checked me in, another ten minutes had passed. There were two parties ahead of me waiting to be seated, and I never saw them get a table. After a few more minutes, I asked when we could be seated. The hostess said she’d check and then started joking around with someone. I asked again and she said since I was a few minutes late they couldn’t seat me yet, and I pointed out that while I was a little late, there was also a long line that wasn’t moving. We decided to eat elsewhere, just as they said our table was ready. They seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. Their uptown location is great but I won’t be hurrying back to this one.
Very convenient location. Seated us promptly (at reservation time). Took drink orders quickly and came out shortly thereafter. Margaritas were excellent as was the Mezcalita de pina. The traditional guacamole was, very flavorful and creamy with small chunks of avocado. The Birria con Consome tacos (2) were absolutely delicious, tender meat, with an awesome dipping consome. Loved the Quesedilla de Camarones as well. The churros were light and a tasty way to end the meal. The service was friendly, professional and helpful. We will definitely be returning to try some of the other tempting menu items.
Great food and service! Coconut margarita was awesome. Highly recommend!
specialty cocktails were absolutely fantastic! food was too! will definitely come back soon.
This place never disappoints. Great food. Great location.
We ate outside and liked our experience.
The food was awesome as usual as were the margaritas.
The quest fundido was great but it had no mushrooms as was stated on the menu but great nonetheless.
The tacos de birria and carnitas were good as was the shrimp dish.
Our server and other service personnel were attentive and friendly.
Hopefully We’ll be beck again soon!!
Spicy and yummy. Everything was delicious and the service was terrific. The only drawback, which is can actually be a plus, is that we were sitting in the 'outdoor' restaurant. Lots of traffic right next to our spot - which in an outdoor space during this time is kind of par for the course. So if you can ignore the truck and the sirens, the spicy margaritas and the service are well worth it.
Good food, good value, lovely interior in the Theater District.
It was AMAZING! Great food, great margaritas.
First, we were seated outside in a quaint, private two-top "house" and it was our first time back at Toloache in 2 years. It's one of our favorite pre-theater options. The menu has some new items, but we miss some of the old entrees (ie: a traditional mole option). That said, the chicken ( Pollo Toloache) was over-cooked and the salmon (Salmon de Verano) was under-cooked. (A meat thermometer would serve them well in the kitchen.) Seemed a bit unnecessary to charge an extra $4 for an iced tea refill, seriously? $8 for iced tea??
However, still giving it 4 stars because the wait staff is so friendly, helpful and attentive. We'll be back, regardless and it's good to see them busy again. Hopefully, they'll work out the kinks over time.
Delicious food beautifully presented.
Attentive server but not overbearing.
Clean and comfortable setting.
What would otherwise be a great review has changed to a poor one based on the bar. After a wonderful meal with friends I decided to finish with a nice sipping tequila. I know tequila quite well and was very familiar with the one I chose. What I was given was not what I ordered and when challenged I was told I got the last of the bottle so it wasn’t very fresh. Needless to say that wasn’t true and when it was obvious I knew what I was talking about the dancing began to try and placate me.
A simple- “I’m sorry sir we don’t currently have that tequila. May I suggest trying one of these?” - would have alleviated the situation. A very disappointing end to an otherwise pleasant experience.
Fantastic restaurant. Every dish we ordered was delicious!
Toloache was great as always. Delicious food and drinks and excellent service. Will be back!
First time eating back in the city and seeing a show since the shutdown. Decided to start back at Toloache. Best prickly pear margherita!!! My daughter and I split tacos and the chilaquiles. Delicious!!!!!
Food was okay, but the service was very lacking.
Excellent spot for specialty cocktails and amazing food. All of the staff are so friendly and accommodating. This is one of my favorite go to restaurants.
Always great mexican food. Guac and chips flavorful and fresh. Corn tortilla excellent. Caesar salad and carne asada dish well sized and quite good. They did serve the salad with the entree which is poor timing, so be sure to remind server to separate them out (shouldnt need a reminder but is what it is).
Absolutely delicious food! Great atmosphere! Awesome margaritas! We went for dinner before a show and it was perfect. Thank you!!
Food was good. You pay for chips and salsa and no tortillas with the carne asada. Guac was yum and cool vibe.
In town for Broadway and anniversary. Great food and great location.
We loved our experience at Toloache! Food was delicious it was surprisingly quick even on a Saturday evening and we ordered several courses. Our waitress was so pleasant and attentive. We would definitely go there again!
We went before a Broadway show and it was just way too loud and crowded for us so we didn’t stay to eat.
