Welcome to Toloache (pronounced toh-lo-AH-tchay), chef-owner Julian Medina’s contemporary Mexican bistro located in the heart of the Theater District. Toloache is named after a flowering plant famed in Mexico for its use in love potions. We hope that when you dine with us you too will fall under the spell of chef Medina’s creative cooking, which incorporates seasonal and natural ingredients and more than a dozen types of chilies. Our festive, two-story space features a guacamole and ceviche bar, a wood-burning oven, and an exceptional tequila list, along with elegant decorative elements imported from Mexico. We looking forward to seeing you soon.

Went here for lunch while we were staying in Midtown, so it was a super convenient location. I had read that there aren't a lot of great restaurants in the Theater District, but this restaurant was referred to me but a friend and I thought the food was delicious! Really great flavors.

The only reason we dined there is because it’s right next to the Wicked show and we have two little kids. Food is ok. Nothing worthwhile mentioning. Standard Mexican menu. Two things I would mention and hope the owner of this restaurant will make improvements to it: (1) placemats are dirty and disgusting. Don’t use it or wash it. The only place I am willing to eat with dirty placemats is at my own house. (2) fix the broken front door that won’t close. The cold air would just gushing in because the door would not close.

The guacamole, jicama salad and plantains were excellent! It was great to find someplace authentic in Times Square area. Minimal vegan options though (but I was happy and full)!

Not your usual Mexican, more like Rick Bayless. Interesting mix of flavors. I found the waiter's descriptions and recommendations to be spot on

Was too cold far away from front door to enjoy as much as we should have...ate lunch with coats on, as did guests around us. Food and service were stellar, though price was a bit high, even for NYC standards, but with brutal cold atmosphere inside, had to eat fast and get outta there. Would've stayed longer and likely not cared about slightly too high of prices...use some of your profit to pay for heat in restaurant!

Had a reservation, however were not seated for approximately 20 minutes after the time, there were clearly tables upstairs that were available. Food was very good, especially the guacamole. Waiter was attentive and orders were correct. Would visit again.
