Very new ce food. A beautiful t crowded and noisy, but to be expected
We celebrated our anniversary & enjoyed Toloache very much! Food was great & the service was wonderful! The restaurant is consistently good!
Pre theatre lunch. Excellent and timely service. Delicious cocktails. Especially liked the ceviche and guacamole -- tried them all. Innovative takes on Mexican traditional foods, Fresh ingredients
Wonderful waiter. Friendly and welcoming place! Food was original and all the flavors came through.
Enjoyable meal. Had reservations and was seated right away. Pleasant staff, attentive waiter. My dish had shrimp which I felt was too fishy smelling- As I ate all I can do is smell it which took away from the seasoning and taste of my dish itself. Not sure why that was.
Margaritas were very good.
We have been to Toloache numerous times and always bring friends. Each time, our friends indicate how much they LOVE it! Always a hit - never had a bad meal.
Angry front desk people
Food was not the best
The food at this restaurant is great but the set up of tables is atrocious. The tables are jammed together so tightly you are practically having dinner with the people at the neighboring table. The guy sitting at the table next to us was talking so loud I could not hear my wife speaking to me. I will never go here again.
I have been going here for over 10 years. Always amazing.
My 13 yo son and I were in NYC for a special mom-son trip. We had a delicious pre-theater dinner at Toloache- midtown. The ambiance was perfect and food was delicious. Staff was attentive and accommodating.
LIke Mexican? Want a different twist on some old favorites? Food was so good! So was the service.
Food was good but the portion was a bit too small.
We loved our experience here we were seated right away . Our server Armando was excellent, offering great advice on our selections. We had the halibut which was terrific, the tacos, also delicious and the lemon cake for dessert. Service was efficient but not rushed .Would definitely come back
very loud!!! small portions caesar salad inedible
Overpriced small portions. Had coconut ice cream $10 and it was just bigger than a quarter! Loud and you are on top of other diners. Food avarage. Once is enough.
Fantastic as always. Love the trio of guacamoles and we got a selection of tacos: lobster, chicken, fish and brisket. Delicious! A couple of mojitos topped off a great meal.
Great food excellent service! I would go back. A little pricey but woth it.
BEST PLACE EVER
Great food. We love the tacos. Service always good!
The food was very good. But unfortunately, we had to wait 30 minutes for our reservation. There is really no place in the restaurant to stand comfortably to wait and there were quite a few others waiting with reservations.
The manager did buy us a drink for the long wait with the reservation, so that was great! It just seems they need a way to manage reservations where you don't have to wait so long and/oryou have a place to wait (getting in and out of the restaurant is quite unpleasant because it is so crowded near the only door).
Excellent food and great service. Will go back.
Great food - great vibe - great service!! Love Toloache for pre-theater dining
The food was delish! The drinks were awesome and the service was friendly and courteous. I would definitely recommend. Reservations before a show are a must.
We stopped here prior to seeing Wicked at the Gershwin. We decided to do appetizers for dinner given the variety they had (and also the fact that we had a late lunch and couldn't eat a big meal). The staff was very nice even though we did not order full meals. Everything we ordered was great and the only "issue" we had was that the noise level was quite loud (so loud that we had a hard time hearing each other across the table). The tables are quite close so the noise level (especially when there is a party of 8 next to you) is inescapable. I guess if you are going there as a group, it will probably be ideal but depending on the crowd, it may not be a good place for a quiet dinner.
A friend recommended Toloache to us and we're very happy with the recommendation!
Toloache is an outstanding choice for Mexican cuisine near the theater district (on 50th St at 8th Ave).
The lobster taco appetizer was delicious. So were the Carnitos con (hazelnut) mole (with spicy cabbage) and the arroz con crema (with garlic shrimp, octopus, scallops). And the 15-layer crepe with caramel sauce was a super dessert. They have a full bar - we went with Mexican beer.
Seating is a bit tight but table size is good. Moderate noise - we had no trouble hearing each other.
Was there for a birthday, food and service, excellent!
Great energy and atmosphere...very fun vibe. Service and food was excellent, but noise level is high. Sit on the balcony level if you can!
Once again another outstanding meal. I brought my wife and niece for their first visit and they loved the place so much. Great service, food and drinks. There's no wonder why reservations can be tough to come by on the weekend. We had the guac, various tacos, carnitas mole, and brussel sprouts. All were tremendous. Will definitely be back.
First time to NYC and we love Mexican food so we did a bit of research and landed at this gem! The service and food was top notch. I'll be back in a heart beat. We almost rearranged our other plans to go back before leaving this bustling city. If that doesn't entice you to try it, I don't know what would!
Food is good, ambience is fine but real obnoxious attitude. Had a 7:30 reservation and showed up at 7:15. Plenty of empty tables but they wanted to make a point of not seating us until the reservation time...... until my girlfriend made a big stink. The hostess just relished in her power saying, "WE'LL SEAT YOU AT YOUR RESERVATION TIME." Good thing for them they're the only restaurant in Manhattan....... Oh wait, there are a million other restaurants in Manhattan.
Nice presentation on the food. Some if tasted flat. For the prices you pay I am surprised they charge you $2.50 for a small bowl of chips. The margarita was not good as it did not have any fresh taste of lime from it. I don't think it was fresh lime juice. There is no excuse for a good Mexican place to have a Margarita that tastes like it was from some chain restaurant
The food was amazing and our server was great too. He answered any questions we had, helped recommend things, etc.
Not as good as our first visit. The food was excellent as usual but the service only so so. Wait staff could have been friendlier. We were seated at a smaller table this time although we requested another. No one was in the restaurant at the time. They said the table we wanted was reserved for 3 or 4 people and we were only 2. I get that but why were we seated there last time with no problem? No one was there yet, same as last time. We got there early so we hoped for a better table. Not a big deal but we liked the restaurant so much it was a bit of a disappointment. Will probably return but not for a while.
It was ok. Nothing to write home about but it’s vibrant, very attentive service and would be a good spot to go to if you’ve got a broadway show to get to at a certain time.
Very bland food. Very. See Mexican good elsewhere. Service just ok.
Never a bad meal at this place. So convenient to the theater district and TiMes Swuare
We’ve been here a few times before shows and are never disappointed. The food is always great and love the margaritas of course! We were very politely asked to switch tables before our food arrived which of course was no problem at ALL, only mentioning it because afterward the manager was nice enough to send over TWO desserts and a round of tequila shots for the table which was just above and beyond. Our server Armando was also awesome and gave great service!
We eat here whenever we are in NYC! The food is amazing and there is always a new menu!!
The food was delicious! The lobster tacos were so good, tender and buttery. Tried the sampler guacamole and couldn’t decide which I liked better. Great food for the price. Would definitely go back.
