Food, Drinks, Service, and atmosphere was perfect! I will definitely go back!
--out of towners keep them in businees
--the worst food
and smallest protions
--no place to move
---extra charges for everything
They food was actually quite good. Service spotty at times. The portion size was quite unbelievable for the price point. A quesadilla on a single 6 inch tortilla for 17.00?? My wife and I are not big eaters, yet 4 hrs later we certainly needed a supplement. Will not likely return due to an Bill for 86.00 for lunch and hunger developing a short time later,
It was absolutely wonderful. We loved it. But very expensive for what it was.
The overall experience was good. The noise level and crowded space was not my favorite. The food was very good. I would probably go again not at a peak time.
Delicious!! Great lunch before heading to a show, will be coming back soon.
Shrimp Tacos were the best i ever had!!!! Mojitos were also excellent.
Good food and drinks. Sergio the bartender was excellent... affable and accommodating. Unfortunately, the Host/hostess were not up to the standards set by bar & kitchen.
One of my favorite NYC restaurants . Food and service are amazing .
We loved this place! The food was fantastic and the service was impeccable. We highly recommend this place if you like Mexican!
Very good food and inferior environment. A definite repeat!
Delicious selection of food - ordered selection of tacos and every one was excellent.
My daughter recently turned 21 and I took her out to celebrate with one of Tolache’s delicious margaritas!
Bit crowded upon entry, had to fight our way to the hostess stand in order to get seated. And most people there had reservations, it seems. Crowd thinned out eventually, but for a Monday night in January, was a bit surprised by the chaos at the front of the house. That said, we were seated quickly, so no problem, though my first impression was "oh, this is not going to be pretty".
We had a wonderful experience at Toloache-Midtown on 50th Street.
Love going to Toloache. Have been many times and looking forward to returning.
Waited for half an hour for the table despite we checked in on time
Food was fantastic!! Get the guacamole!
Good was fresh, excellently prepared, and arrived without a long wait. I just wish we had been hungrier! Would definitely go back on a night when we didn’t have a show to catch. The menu is worth investigating more thoroughly. Wait staff were the perfect combination of attentive but not intrusive. Didn’t feel rushed at all.
This was a pre theatre dinner as part of my bachelorette in NY.
Overall it was great. The cocktails were lovely, the food was really tasty and the service was friendly.
We were asked on arrival if we had theatre tickets to which we responded that we did.
The service was efficient enough to help us get there on time.
There were 2 things I would change there:
1. There is only 1 toilet upstairs and from what I saw only 1 more downstairs. Although they were kept clean, unfortunately there was always a queue which deterred us from going. I wish we had realised that the theatre bathroom queue would be even worse.
2. We had ordered the queso fondue to share and as I detest mushrooms we asked them to put them on the side for my friend to have them. Then the waitress came to us and said that unfortunately the kitchen staff got confused and put the mushrooms in the fondue and if we minded. We obviously did mind as we had ordered them on the side. Gladly they were quick to rectify and I enjoyed some really tasty cheese without a mushroom inside the dish.
Overall though, the experience was great, the food was lovely and given that it's a nice restaurant in the middle of theatre district, it was good value for money.
Perfect post-show dinner spot to enjoy a great meal and reflect on what you just saw! Highly recommend the guac and excellent variety of cocktails!
This was my and my husband's second visit to Toloache and once again it did not disappoint! We shared the fruit salsa, which was delicious! Then my husband had the Chicharron Tacos and the Carne Asada Tacos. He adored both and was quite full afterwards (don't let the "appetizer size" stop you from ordering them). I had the special of the night, which was Chile Relleno with shrimp, calamari, and octopus. It was incredible! For dessert we shared the tres leche cake with lemon meringue and berry salsa. Wonderful! The service was fantastic too, as the waiter gave us time to enjoy our meal, but did not leave us for so long that we were looking for him when we needed drink refills. A spectacular experience! Can't wait to go again!
The service was lacking -- we were never told the specials but heard them described at other tables after we had ordered and we were served the wrong dinner, which we didn't realize until after we began eating it.
Location is great for theaters in the area. Service is good. Prices are mostly OK. Although $14 For a small bowl of guacamole seemed excessive. Churros dessert fabulous. My quesadilla pollo was dry and portion seemed small.
We used to love this place as it’s close to some of the shows we see. Unfortunately it’s gone done hill. The drinks are very diluted and gone are the days of table side guacamole (there’s no space, im sure). The food was just not as good as it used to be and I think they’re just cutting a lot of corners. They pack the tables in as close as humanly possible and you have about 4 inches between each table.
Great spot near the theatre district. Quick service and very tasty Mexican food. Definitely recommend!!
Great food and good service. Dinner before a play.
Another fantastic meal and great service. Looking forward to our next visit!
First time visit for a quick snack after a Broadway show. Food was tasty, well prepared and very good....taco, guacamole, rice/beans.
Deducted a star for service because Coke took forever to appear and I never got my cup of water & lemon.
Typical NYC tourist area restaurant...small portions, high prices. Therefore, not great value.
Besides small proportions of mediocre food and tables crammed so close together it’s tough to get comfortable, the restaurant follows the policy of not sitting you until your entire party arrives. While I understand the policy, I found myself crammed into a tiny space with many people in the same situation while most tables remained unoccupied which seemed ridiculous.
The flavors are awesome. The choices are amazing. You will love the food, and there are unique flavors and ingredients. That said, I also have to admit that the portions are not particularly generous - and it is definitely pricey - but delicious!
Enjoyed the food and the ambiance. Great location for theater goers.
For my brother’s birthday, very fun and great food.
The pork belly taco was very good. Service was not attentive. Forgot to give us the comp chips. Had to ask the bus boy. Table was very close to next table - too cramped.
I chose this restaurant because they were listed as allergy friendly but the menu for a Mexican restaurant was very limited for a person with dairy and shellfish allergies. Surprising that they didn’t offer plain non dairy rice?? My daughter ordered beef taco which were good but very small. Waitress was extremely nice and allergy aware!! She was great but menu was too limited for her would not go back. The rest of our meals were very good. Food was very fresh.
Everything was delicious. Staff was very friendly.
The food was great, the space is tight. Servers were efficient
Great food. Really impressive. Delicious and creative. Excellent. Terrific, friendly service. Loved everything about the place. In the theater district but didn’t feel rushed or touristy. Good to know about when you’re seeing a show.
We got in and out after I raised a stink since our 5:45 reservation was not ready until 6:10 and we had tickets to a show at 7
Our favorite Mexican place in NYC. Never disappoints !
