Packed midtown eatery with mediocre food plus our waiter was rude. Will not be coming back.
My first time a good experience everything was perfect from a drink at the bar, apps main course and delicious dessert. the staff very professional and attentive also the manager is well educated and very friendly. Thanks for everything and see you soon.
I requested a quiet table because it was a family reunion. There really is no such thing there but I thought I’d try. It’s a very noisy restaurant. The guacamole was as always good and everyone’s meal was good except mine. I ordered the chicken Caesar which came with raw chicken. I sent it back and it was served with overdone chicken. By that time everyone was done. The waiter was apologetic and took it off the bill without me asking.
They sat us directly underneath an air conditioning unit! I don’t think I’ll consider this a special restaurant anymore.
Birthday dinner before show
I enjoyed the food, it’s always excellent
I did feel like the tables were too close together and while we ordered pretty quickly and ate in a timely fashion, we must have been asked 5 times if our check was ready!
We were just finished eating when it was put down
This is not a cheap meal, and I just felt rushed!
Excellent food and service....reasonable prices. Our visiting cousin from England loved it too!
The food and cocktails were great a bit expensive for such small portions. They should have a happy hour.
I picked this spot because it was close to the broadway show we were attending that evening. We were inside by 6pm and out by 6:45pm and not rushed or chasing the server. The staff asked us if we were attending a show, and that's the first time that has happened to me. They were accommodating and quick, food and drinks were good; would come back if I was in the area again.
Incredible food. Get the lobster tacos.
This is one of our favorite restaurants near the Theatre District. The food, service and drinks are all amazing.
The host welcome and check in experience needs some serious work. There were 3 people at the host station but it took a long time for the hostess to find any reservation and also to find a table to seat any of us. The restaurant wasn’t busy enough to warrant this kind of disorganization and long wait times. The food is also not good enough to make it worth it either.
Food was excellent!!! So delicious! Might be the best restaurant in Times Square. Drinks and service didn’t disappoint either.
Had dinner at this establishment after the theater. Greeted when we entered the restaurant, waiter approached within a minute. Nice selection of entrees and drinks. Very nice evening will return next time I’m in NYC.
Good food. Good service, ask if you are going to show so you don't get held up. It is noisy.
Fresh, creative Mexican food in a fun environment, Toloache never disappoints. I've been there several times before a show and always enjoy the guacamole trio, unusual cocktails and layered flavors in the fresh tacos. This time I had pork. Delicious!
Good food. Good and attentive service. Very noisy the day we went.
As always, excellent food. Recommend the tuna tiradito, the huitlacoche quesadillas, and the tacos de lechón. And don’t miss the churros!
Amzing meal great service went back again !!
I usually go to the Toloache UES location (which I love) but this one is just as good. Delish food and great cocktails!
My friend from Chicago had come into town to celebrate his birthday. I chose Toloache for his bday dinner because I knew everyone in the group would be satisfied. Of course the food and ambiance is much more than satisfactory but I wanted to please everyone. From the beginning of the evening until the hugs goodbye to the staff, the food and service were perfect.
The food was fresh and tasty although portion sizes could have been larger considering their prices. Wasn’t overly expensive, but I expected just a little more. Service was awesome and all the staff were very friendly and accommodating. On the whole a very pleasant evening.
We were caught off guard here. The street look of the restaurant suggests casual, not-too-expensive dining. It calls itself a bistro-grill. This restaurant is actually a fairly upscale Mexican restaurant. The ambiance is lovely. The music was too loud for us, but our server was able to get it turned down just a bit, enough that we could talk to each other across the table. The food was rather standard Mexican fare. We both ordered a tomato-tortilla soup, which was quite good, with a bit of a heat kick. My husband ordered a quesadilla and I ordered queso fundido. My husband commented that the quesadilla was smaller than he expected, and tasted bland. He likes his Mexican food to have a serious kick to it. The mushroom-chorizo queso fundido was good enough, but not particularly exciting. Drinks were, to us, expensive. We know this is New York City, and everything is more expensive, but felt that the $83.00 plus tip that our dinner cost was a bit steep for two bowls of soup, two small plates, and two drinks. Our overall experience was pleasant because the restaurant is so nice, but we won’t go back.
We ate here sort of on a lark and loved it. Great food and fun atmosphere. The margaritas were exceptional and there were several from which to choose. The menu was complete and it was difficult to choose here too. The fish we had was well prepared and tasty. Service was good and the restaurant served late. All in all, it was a pleasant surprise.
Fantastic food every time! We always include it in our trip plans! Delicious!
Great food... period! The house margarita was to die for! So was the classic guacamole. You won’t be disappointed eating here prior to your theater show.
This is my fifth time at this restaurant. One of the few places in Midtown with really good food!
My date and I had such a wonderful time with you on Wednesday. Our cocktails, food, and entire experience were simply fantastic; we can't wait to come back!
Great food and drinks at this restaurant. It’s a little cramped in the small space but the make it work and the friendly staff and excellent food quality more than make up for it.
Food was overpriced and tiny. Not good value. But everything tasted good and the servers were excellent and attentive!
The restaurant was very noisy and we couldn't hear ourselves talk. The food was just ok value for money. More expensive then I thought it would be given the $$ rating. Won't go back :(
We make sure to eat here every trip to NYC!
Everything was delicious
We had lunch on a Sunday, which includes the brunch menu. Very attentive waitstaff, easy to engage in conversation and happy to make recommendations. Interesting dishes, some with Asian-Mexican fusion elements. We had tuna ceviche which was served with soy sauce in the marinade and tasted like Mexican sushi. Fish tacos and calabaza tacos were superb. Jalapeno-infused margarita-like drink (can't remember the name) was served in a glass rimmed with spicy salt. Tasted great!
Been there b4. Success in past but not in the present. Service- 1. do not serve entree when customer still eating salad. 2. No pepper mill for salad??? 3. Teach waiter not to put cork back on wine after pouring initial glasses. 4. Although we said not going to theater after dining we felt rushed throughout. There are so many choices that one should not settle for wait staff who do not know timing, etc.
Food was good but one looks st whole experience.
Buy a few pepper mills. Expected and not a major investment.
Waiter was not accommodating in certain aspects, the manager approved doing separate checks for our table and then the waiter quickly denied us from doing it.
The food portions weren’t the biggest and when asking about what to get, our waiter always suggested to bring it out first for us to see. Not letting us know they were appetizers vs a meal portion.
It was also too dark to see, all the waiters had lights shining in our faces when looking at menus. Everyone was also screaming over each other. So not a great atmosphere for conversation.
The cocktails were really good.
Amazing food and fantastic service. The food was incredible and drinks and dessert left us wanting to go back for more!
Best Mexican food in the city. Try the rojo guacamole and lobster tacos. Kid friendly as well.
Great food but can be slow during the broadway show rush if you're pressed for time :)
Always a great experience!
The Tropical margarita was outstanding. We did tacos this time and shared both the brisket (amazing) and the short rib/bone marrow (very good with a little kick to them). Additionally, we had rice and beans that were good, nothing special. We shared a lemon tres leches cake for dessert and it was delish!
