Welcome to Toloache (pronounced toh-lo-AH-tchay), chef-owner Julian Medina’s contemporary Mexican bistro located in the heart of the Theater District. Toloache is named after a flowering plant famed in Mexico for its use in love potions. We hope that when you dine with us you too will fall under the spell of chef Medina’s creative cooking, which incorporates seasonal and natural ingredients and more than a dozen types of chilies. Our festive, two-story space features a guacamole and ceviche bar, a wood-burning oven, and an exceptional tequila list, along with elegant decorative elements imported from Mexico. We looking forward to seeing you soon.

Toloache was absolutely incredible! From the world-class service to the best tacos I've eaten in my entire life...hands down, my favorite place to eat in NYC!

The service was pleasant as always but it seems the food has lost some of its flavor. Meals were well presented but the flavor I’ve become accustomed to has waned. Perhaps it was an off night. Would try again as it’s normally a winner.

The restaurant was extremely busy when we arrived but we were seated quickly. The service was quick and efficient. Water was brought and replenished without any need to ask. The menu is interesting and innovative, I.e no sign of Fajitas, initially disappointing but compensated for by varied dishes. Plate sizes are adequate without going over the top. The atmosphere was lively, we were seated on the upper level where the low ceiling and tables in close proximity added to the buzz of the place.
If there was a slight downside it was extremely warm in the restaurant and the minimal lighting forced us to use our phone torches to see the print on the menu. It was interesting to see that some of the Waiters were using lights to identify the tables to direct the food orders.
The restaurant is in a great location close to most Broadway Theatres, and we would go again when we visit New York.

The food is always delicious and service is always friendly and courteous. Toloache is bustling and hectic with a high noise level, but the staff stays calm and efficient.

This was our second time at Toloache. We enjoy it very much, and recommend it to other people.

We had the "medium spicy" guacamole which has tropical fruits. Quite tasty and a different take that is definitely worth a try. For the main courses we had the Camarones Toloache and the Carnitas con Mole. Both excellent - very tasty and nice presentations. Excellent spicy cabbage with the carnitas. For dessert you have to try the 15-layer crepes. It has a delicious caramel sauce - a real must try.

The restaurant gets very busy and space is a bit tight but it's sufficiently comfortable. We were not rushed at all. Service was attentive and the server offered great suggestions.

Very convenient location (50th St at 8th Ave) for midtown theater, New York City Center, Carnegie Hall, and Feinsteins / 54 Below.

Very nice ambiance from the moment we walked in until we left. Went to this restaurant to celebrate my father's 91st Birthday. I've been to this location before and he enjoyed the restaurant so I brought him back. Everyone was so accommodating to him & joyful. Made him feel great. Food was delicious. We enjoyed the guacamole very much. Our carne asada was delicious and done the way we liked it. Their toloache martini was devine. Thank you for a very nice time .

Coming here for nearly 10 years and food and service are great..however this time the tables were packed so close together it made for a sub-par experience. The 6 inches between tables is just not enough. If I return it will be at non-peak/packed times.

Very good but items I’ve had there before were not as remembered.
Pricey for certain items and portions.
