Toloache-Midtown
Great food, service and atmosphere. We were very pleased with our experience!
Excellent pre-theater location and delicious food. We will certainly return. Only downside is that the table are very close to each other.
Thought I was getting standard Mexican but was so not -- The place was amazing, food excellent, service nice
Everything was phenomenal. I will definitely go back.
Great food, great casual atmosphere. Highly recommended!
A perfect midtown lunch spot! The food is delicious and the service is excellent.
I love the food here! The menu was updated since my last visit and there are lots of fresh and delicious combinations of ingredients. The chef is timely with selections that put a twist on traditional Mexican cuisine. Loved the squash tacos and fried brussels sprouts. Great ceviche! Tasty guac! I wish a few more of the vegetarian and fish options are not fried, please.
Went for lunch and had a delicious shrimp Caesar salad. Service was excellent. Kind and friendly staff.
We were seated right away and I loved that. Portions were small and chips were not complimentary, but everything was really good. I would like to try the one located in the Upper East Side to compare.
Wonderful evening. One of my favorite restaurants. Best plantains ever.
They pack you in like cattles but The food was tasty though.
Hostess was great, food was great. Super crowded, quite cold near the window. Expensive for what you get, but expected in the Theater District.
Food was great. Nice vegan options for my wife. Go to place for seeing a show on Broadway
Wife’s birthday. Your brunch portion sizes are an absolute joke. Huevos moltolenos. What an absolutely disappointing meal. I should have stayed home and cooked breakfast.
Literally 2 eggs, marinara sauce and a couple slivers of banana.
Complete waste of money. Overpriced and over rated food.
Good food and friendly service but it took a very long time for our two main dishes to show up at the table.
Love this place! Good place to go for drinks with friends with a great meal. Could definitely just do drinks with chips and salsa/chips and guacamole
Food was good - not great. Vegetarians beware - they are not willing to work with you to alter menu items .
Great food, service, and lively atmosphere. Very satisfied.
This is one of the best restaurants in NYC. If your in town or the area, it’s a must go !!!
When I made this reservation, I had noted that I had two guests with me that had birthdays, and asked for the desserts I would order to say Happy Birthday on them. I then mentioned this again on the phone when the restaurant called to confirm my reservation since it was going to be a surprise. The desserts I ordered did not say happy birthday on them and there was no candle. I let the hostess know this on my way out of the restaurant, and she was really rude about it. I really like this restaurant, and it's unfortunate the way this was handled. Don't give us the opportunity to mention an event and make a special request when we make a reservation if it's going to be ignored.
Food was best Mexican we've had; plate-licking good! Layout of restaurant is quite crowded and very noisy, but I would look past that to eat their enchiladas again!
On a surprisingly busy Thursday evening, we walked into Toloache well ahead of our scheduled reservation but they were able to accommodate us--which did require waiting several minutes. Perhaps the business was due to Restaurant Week or its proximity close to the Broadway theater district (we were in fact asked if we were attending a show). The bar as well as the dining areas downstairs and upstairs were packed with showgoers, tourists and commuters. Toloache does not have outdoor seating (not needed this time of year!) but it is easy to get to by foot or public transportation (hotels close by, subway station right across the street). The service is friendly and very attentive without being intrusive. Our Restaurant Week orders included a lobster soup (spicy and no lobster chunks!) and shrimp tacos for appetizers and a sea bass and skirt steak for the main course. All dishes were nicely prepared and tasted great. The desserts--flan and tres leches--were not on a par with the rest of the meal; the flan was drenched with a strongly sweet fruit sauce and the tres leches was only so-so. Seating was a little tight but the conversation level was moderate.
It was the third time that we have dined at Toloache and it did not disappoint.
Service was fantastic. Very accommodating and friendly. Will definitely come back!
The food here was excellent, portions sizes were generous, and every dish was full of flavor! Sitting on street level is very tight and nosiy and doesn't lend to much of an ambiance but that was overcome by the cuisine here - highly recommended!
Great to go to before the theater. Gets really loud and crowded around 6 pm so make reservation early.
Located just a 5-10 minute walk from the Theatre District. This charming Mexican restaurant boasts a very reasonably priced menu, pleasant atmosphere and a very professional wait staff. For Restaurant Week, I ordered the Tacos de Camaron (shrimp, Chile de Arbol in a crispy tortilla), delicious and a little spicy! For my main I had the Salmon, ordered media-rare, cooked perfectly! Served over greens with a mild guajillo salsa. I had theatre and they were able to get me out in 30-minutes, without rushing during a very busy lunch at the restaurant. Highly recommended! Sharon, my waitress was excellent and very nice.
All three courses were excellent. Crispy shrimp tacos, juicy tender steak and a superb red-velvet tres leches cake. I tasted a bite of the flan too and the dessert chef is a master!
A table of loud drunks and a crying baby can't always be predicted or avoided and they weren't the restaurant's fault - but we came to get away from the T.V. - unfortunately there was no getting away from the Superbowl - annoyingly reflected from every angle on a TV and on a giant screen above the stairs. We would definitely come back for a quieter dinner but would check to make sure the giant T.V. was shut off. Still, this place has excellent food seasoned with lots of great Mexican flavors.
The fruity guacamole was very good. My friend loved the Black Sea bass. Would go again if I had the chance.
This is our favorite place to go when in city to see a show. Food is delicious and staff so friendly and helpful. Member of our party is gluten free and there are many options
The menu is not the same as the downtown location, and this meal was a disappointment. I had the lobster salad, which was nothing special. And, I was to have had the soup on the restaurant week lunch menu which the waiter said wasn't spicy, but it had more of a kick to it than I would have liked, so I sent it back. I don't typically post less than positive reviews, but I'm gonna stick to the downtown location.
Ambience was great, so as service. Food was very good.
We had an 8:30 reservation and weren’t sat until 9:10. Everything was great once we sat down.
The food was great. Service was great. Since we reserved wait time wasn’t much.
Always a good experience. Food and drinks never disappoint. It’s also always crowded and noisy! Very popular so you better make your reservations early
Loved this place! The craft cocktails were fabulous! I would recommend this place! The place is very expensive; $15 for a Margarita $14 for Guacamole This place is NOT CHEAP but damn it was good
There was an overbooking of tables on a Friday night when we arrived and what could have been a very upsetting ordeal turned out to be a fun festive night - the staff really stepped up and hosted beautifully - the manager was super professional and accommodating! The food was delicious - we will be back!
Excellent as Always ~
Our dinner was absolutely fantastic and the service was even better!
Great place that I go to all the time. The place is always packed, but I have Benner been disappointed with the food.
We went to this restaurant before a show and it was very flavoroful and the food presentation was nice. The food is good the service was expedient and anxious because we had as hard time deciding what to get. Coming from Seattle where we are spoiled with amazing food choices and high quality options we found the portions to be a little small for the price but let's just chalk that up to expensive New York. One of us got the special $42 restaurant week menu and one got the two tacos for more than one would expect. Flavours were very nice and the place got hopping as it turned to 6.
