The food was absolutely excellent! Great chef with a good sense of humor!
Food was too salty. Friendly service. My wife enjoyed the veggies chowmein and kids had overall good experience. My take is that it is not worth the money.
Over all it was a fun experience. However, I would say this team was off their mark and I hope it was just one of those nights. The chef was very entertaining and the food was tasty. The service was slow. The host disappeared immediately after pointing to our seats. We had a question, but couldn't find anyone to ask. Then we wanted to order drinks and again no servers to be found for nearly 20 minutes. We thought to go to the bar, but there was no bartender either! We had a 7:30pm reservation and sat waiting to get drinks/apps anything until 8:00pm. Once the server did magically appear all was well (sort of). The lady next to us had her order taken wrong. This would not be discovered until nearly the end when she was served the wrong item. While the chef was addressing her incorrect order issue our lobster was woefully over cooked :-(
Awesome atmosphere, skilled chef, and the food was unbelievable!
Food and service were excellent.
The service was very disappointing. We made a reservation for a large party, however we’re seated us two different parties ate at two different times and we’re still charged a 20% gratuity charge per check. People were on attentive and unfriendly and seem to be bothered by us being there. It was a very uncomfortable situation, and we will not be returning.
Waitress not friendly, food is ok,but way overpriced, they charge you 15$ sharing fee!charged us 45$ plus tips, totall is 100$ for 6 people, and waitress forgot to bring our sushi...place is dark and dirty, will not come back
We have always gone to Tokyo steak house for the fun show. Our chef barely spoke. He didn’t toss the shrimp or do anything fun. I also wrote in my reservation that it was my sons bday and. They never acknowledged it. Our waitress didn’t come around enough to remind her. Super expensive for a super disappointment.
Had a very good meal. But very disappointed that they marked me as a no-show on Open Table when we arrived exactly at the time of our reservation.
Tokyo is a family fun place to eat. The food was good and the presentation impressive and funny.
Took over 40 minutes before we received our food as they waited till others came to the table(we had a reservation) my order was incorrect. Music very loud. Cook dropped cookware during "performance" chairs sticky, bathroom dirty. Very disappointing. Had heard good things about this place but have been to similar restaurant with better experience all around.
Service was really good but slow, and pricy
Maybe it's just the night we went, but the chef was relatively low energy, the food not as good as we remembered and the restaurant itself pretty empty for a Saturday . . . Was OK, but with so many more options available in Bellevue not sure if it'd be my first choice anymore
I have eaten here for numerous "event" dinners over the past 5 years or so. I won't be going back. The service was perfunctory and seemed very focused on turning the table as quickly as possible. It was my birthday - which the waitperson asked about - and then the birthday was completely ignored. They were really short-staffed to the point that getting drinks at the bar - before and after dinner - was an ordeal.
On to a different event dinner location.
The configuration of the tables and benches are not conducive to good service. The wait staff has to go around the table to serve the customers. The benches don't need to be that wide. They could be narrower so the wait staff could wait on the customers. Plus the benches are hard; not very comfortable.
The food was great. The service was great. They put a lot of money into the decor. The only thing that really stood out was the paper taped signs as you come in. It looked cheap and the signs were passive-aggressive. It’s just something the wait staff can convey or add it to the menus.
Worse service ever. Came here for birthdays for my wife and son on a weekday dinner when not that busy and made reservations on open table. Still took over 20 minutes to find high chairs for kids. Sat us after others who arrived later. Took another 30 minutes to get waiter to recognize us after I had to walk to them to get service because kids were already hungry then asked if we can wait longer to take our order. In my reservation I specified that this was special occasion for 2 birthdays. While others got their birthday sang to, we didn’t probably to retaliate because they were upset that I got up from table to request basic service. None of the shrimp were fully peeled. Very oily. Never returning.
Tokyo ignored our reservation. Told us that it wasn’t confirmed after it had been. Kept providing misleading information about when we would be seated (ie 5 minutes then 15 Minutes later, telling us 10 more Minutes etc.). We eventually left after an hour beyond our reservation time without ever being seated.
Our server was rude. Food quality was poor. They were 30 minutes behind on our reservation and it took the “chef” over an hour to start. By far, one of the worst experience we have had dining out. Although they knew we were celebrating a birthday, there was no acknowledgement of the occasion. 👎🏼
Worst service EVER. After we were sat, we waited a full HOUR to get our food. The hibachi style show was lame. The cook looked bored. Food was mediocre and over priced. So totally disappointing. We complained to management who told us they were short staffed and tough luck. We will never go back.
The entire experience was wonderful. We were seated right on time, service was friendly and timely. The chef was fun and entertaining. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly. The entire evening was a great celebration.
Empty. We were only people In huge restaurant. It felt like chef was late to arrive and they didn’t take our order til 15 minutes after we sat down. It didn’t feel like they have any regular lunch crowd. Dinner is usually good.
Staff were really friendly and the chef went over and above to give us a fantastic experience! Really funny and hilarious! Steak was delicious and tender, cooked perfectly!
The food was quite good. The service was likewise good. Our biggest compliant about this restaurant is the speed at which were were pushed through the place. In our previous experiences with Teppanyaki dining, there was a lot more entertainment value to the meal. In our visit to Tokyo Steak House, we all felt like we were rushed and that they were in a big hurry to get us fed and out of there. There also wasn't much fanfare to for the cooking experience like at other similar venues. The whole experience was okay, but I'm not certain I would rush back to dine there again.
We made a reservation and were seated almost 40 minutes later. One lady serving and one chef. Wasted almost 2.5hrs here, will never come back. They were out of everything too.
While the food was fabulous, the service was horrible. Our chef never spoke to us other than to cofirm our order, there was no 'show' or spectacle whatsoever other than he lit a stack of onions on fire which lasted 15 seconds. There were only 3 waitresses running around taking the food and drink orders which meant it took at least 15-20 minutes of sitting without a drink or water. We never got a second beer or cocktail as nobody came back. Don't get me wrong, the food is great, it is an expensive dinner for a family of 4, 2 adults, 2 young kids and a bill of $188 and each adult only had one alcoholic beverage, that is absurd . Oh, and did I mention they automatically added a 20% gratuity?! If they stepped up their service and we had a more friendly, engaging chef, we would definitely come back !
Perfect food with perfect girl
Food was great. Charging $5 per person to upgrade to fried rice seems pretty steep(it was very good). Mix drinks leave a lot to be desired. My old fashion was water and whiskey and for the amount they charge having a decent bartender would be nice. Next time I’ll stick with beer. Overall it was very good.
I loved this place. It was our to go on the special occasion ... the portion got smaller, you have to pay additional for the rice(it was a part of the dinner before ), the person who was cooking didn't put any show at all... happy birthday song 2 people came for the short time...and the 20% was already included in the bill (?!?!). For that disappointment they don't deserve any tips!!!!
I feel frustrated and angry.
I love this restaurant. Food is fabulous and you're entertained the whole meal.
Was great good and quick to start eating.
Had a reservation and restuarant wasn't full but had to wait about 20.min. That's the only reason not a full 5 star.
Great food, great atmosphere, and normally great service but not sure if this waiter was new or over booked but after taking or food order we did not see him again at our table, I had to ask other wait staff for beverage refills
Tokyo steak house is my favorite go to teppanyaki place. Getting seated takes a while though sometimes even when you have reservations.
Great Chefs and great menu. Disappointed with Front Service. I had a reservation, and was serve a lot later than customer who doesn't! (15 minutes later)
It took at least 1 hour for the chef to arrive at our table after we were seated. The performance was fun, but the lobster tasted fishy and the steak was bitter with too much soy sauce. Also, we told them it was a birthday dinner, and they did nothing (we could hear other people getting birthday drums, but not us).
Lovely decor and ambience. However they were SUPER understaffed the night we went. We were seated right away but then waited an hour before the chef came to our table. It looked like they only had 4 table chefs working for a HUGE restaurant. Once the food was on the table it was very tasty and good portions. I just wish they had more people working!
Overly salted overly done food. Cook was very nice. Quality ingredients that were sadly rubberized.
Service and food has definitely gone downhill. I don’t think we will be back.
Host was rude. We were seated 20 minutes late. Table we were seated at, they added 2 extra chairs so we had no room to move.
Very mediocre service and our server Chris was not friendly or even welcoming. He also forgot to return my credit card and left it stuck in the machine. I waited for 5 minutes and he didn’t swing back to see if there was anything else we needed. For the price they charge I expected much more. Very hohum and I’m not planning on going back.
