We just love this place. Its always a great experience. The Chef's put on a great show, an the food is fantastic.. We took our friends from out of town this time. They were very pleased with the great night out. We look forward to coming back again !!!
My boyfriend and I t
Service was very poor. Quality of steak was very fatty.
Food was salty and waited 45 min for the chef to come to our table and cook for us
Once we arrived at the restaurant, we were promptly seated and they took our drink orders. You share a table with about 9 people total.
Ordering was a little confusing because there aren’t many directions and some of the orders seem to overlap, so it’s a little bit of a guessing game.
Our chef did well to prepare our food, but was not as engaging as the others. Chefs were tossing food into people’s mouths and doing some fun tricks, but our chef was just content with getting our food cooked.
A big problem is that by the time you get all your food, is that parts of it are cold already, like the fried rice. Either you can eat your food as it comes hot, or wait for everything, but some of it will be cold.
We were given sauces for everything at the end, so I was basically done with my food. Also, we ordered a sushi roll and it came after we had both finished our plates.
The amount of food you get for the price is decent and it did taste good. I think the service could’ve much better, but they were busy that night.
There were very understaffed for Valentine's Day. We waited 10 minutes after our reservation time to get seated. There was only one host and he was slow to acknowledge people when they came in. He also seemed to be trying to bus tables at the same time. When we finally got seated our server was super slow and kept forgetting things that automatically came with the meal like our salad. The table next to us got seated after us and received everything before we did. Our chef was good and the food was pretty good, but overall I would not go again or recommend to a friend.
We had to wait 50 minutes to be seated with a reservation! They weren’t in a hurry to get the previous group out or the table set once they left. There was food on some of the chairs and on the floor that we had to ask to remove. Then, the waitress talked to the two sides of the table but never the middle where the birthday person was sitting. One of the servers accidentally dropped a glass of water all over one of our guests. The person we were celebrating also recently had some health issues and the extra long wait was extremely difficult for him. Another one of our guests had to leave before her food came. Most of our guests didn’t get home until after 11:00pm, due them starting so late. We had reservations at 7. Yet we didn’t even get to order until after 8. One of the two chefs started about 15 minutes after the first chef. Once again, our birthday guest was the one who had to wait. The one side of the table was eating their main course before they started preparing the other sides rice and vegetables. They said they were sorry and would give us some appetizers, yet they didn’t even let us pick them out. Not really a sorry gift if you don’t like them. Oh, and they started at the ends of the table, not with the birthday guest. Terrible!!!!!
Amazing food, great service, fun environment when they are making your food!
Rather disappointed this time. Had a 6p reservation for my son’s birthday dinner. We were seated and then had to wait over 40 minutes for a chef to show up, who then proceeded to then rush through the cooking/presentation. Overall an underwhelming experience.
We were seated and waited over 45 min for a waiter come bring us water and take our order. We waited another 30 min and no one came over to prepare our food so we decided to just leave and go to another restaurant.
We had been to Tokyo House twice over the past few years and had good experiences, so we had no qualms booking a reservation for New Year’s Eve. We were wrong.
In a nutshell, the restaurant is ill-equipped to handle large crowds.
We arrived on time but were seated 15 minutes after our reservation time. The host was completely flustered and walked around the restaurant all evening.
After being seated we... just sat. It was another 10 minutes before a server came to our table. We ordered at once, as glances around the restaurant showed up that they were completely understaffed. Our server left us with miso soup and water. Another 15 minutes later, drinks arrived. That brings us to 40 minutes.
In minute 45, with no food and no server in sight, I went to the bar. Three kind fellow diners let me know that there was no bartender- the one server we had seen was serving the entire restaurant plus mixing drinks. The gentlemen mentioned that they had reservation 3 years earlier on NYE and had forgotten that they went through the same horrific experience last time. These lovely gentleman, in the spirit of sinking-ship camaraderie, helped me sneak into the bar and procure a pitcher of ice water. I then served my party of five, plus the rest of our table.
ONE HOUR into the experience, we were finally brought salads, and a chef was finally allocated to us. The chef was nice, seemed quite competent, and cooked good food. He was, how we, extremely rushed, which was uncomfortable.
While waiting for our meals, we watched the host open the remaining tables and seat another 48 people (the tables are sorted into groups of 8). Casual observation shows us that the service had slowed down even further since we had been seated.
The food was good. The service was horrific. It was an incredibly terrible experience which ruined our holiday dinner.
I was hoping for a similar experience to Benihana. We were all greatly disappointed!
Our server was rude and barely came by to check on us. We had to go to the bar on several occasions to get a cocktail. She NEVER even came to ask if we wanted another drink. The chef said he could not help us with that. I would not recommend this place!!!
Run. Horrible in every aspect
The worst restaurant I have been to! Waited long time even with reservation and wait even longer for the food to show up. Food is not good. Wasted 3 hours
The fried rice was a big disappointment. Too much soy sauce
The prices have gone way up and the service has gotten worse. We usually go here to celebrate birthdays. I’m going to for another Japanese steak house that isn’t as expensive.
Menu said shrimp appetizer and we were not served a shrimp appetizer. Should have that removed from the menu if no longer serving that.
Otherwise food an service was good!
This was the worst restaurant I have ever been to in my life.
We went at lunch in a Sunday and there was nobody else there but us. It was the best lunch ever!
Excellent meal, service, and show as always. It was a perfect setting for my wife's birthday.
We enjoyed a nice meal as a family at this restaurant. It was entertaining to have the chef prepare the food right in front of us. And the food was very tasty too
Nothing special to be remembering or recommending it. The staff was tired on a Wednesday at 7 PM and wanted to call it a day.
We went there for my birthday celebration and were underwhelmed by the entire dining experience.
Service was inconsistent - everyone was nice but bartender didn't know how to make an Old Fashion cocktail and we had to ask the waitress to bring out the sushi rolls we ordered; the chef was pleasant and fun but his showmanship could have used practice. Good ambiance and location.
Birthday dinner was a blast!
The staff was fabulous. Accommodated our family very nicely with a toddler and infant for their mom’s birthday. Food was delicious. Photos taken. Service timely. Great for family.
My wife fell in love with Tokyo when we traveled over in the spring to watch the Mariner's play. So for her Birthday I had to take her to the Tokyo Steak House to celebrate. We were not disappointed. The show our cook put on while he prepared our food was very entertaining. I also like the fact that you can see your food before its cooked. We had chicken and steak, you can tell they use quality cuts of meat.
Our kids have loved going to the Tokyo Steak House at the Federal Way location, in years past. We made a reservation for a Friday night and were seated on time. However, our waiter did not come to say Hi or take our drink order for nearly 15 minutes. It appeared that the restaurant was understaffed. We are not planning to return to this location.
Unfortunately, the cleanliness in the restaurant was poor. The table had a visible layer of grease, the dishes looked not fully cleaned and the bathrooms were not in good order.
There was a long wait for our food. The drinks were watered down and the prices were comparable to fine restaurants in Bellevue, WA, while the service, eating conditions, and quality of drinks were very substandard.
I have never written a poor review before. Unfortunately, in this case, I think this was important experience to share.
Great food and service! I love Tokyo’s!
Always enjoy taking our grandson to Tokyo Steakhouse for his birthday celebration. Kids always enjoy it!
So disappointing. I was very excited to take my daughter in law for her birthday. Made an reservation and let them know it was special. We were seated and waited to finally get water. They then forgot to give us the salad . My daughter in law ordered shrimp and steak they forgot the shrimp. It was absolutely terrible. Very expensive and the service was terrible. My suggestion ... pick a different restaurant! I will not return.
5th time dining there. Always great experience. 3 days later, still remembering how good it was.
They have severely cut down on their portions. For the steak and shrimp entree, I received 6 rubbery shrimp and about a half-cup of rubbery chicken breast. I won’t be back.
We used to go to Tokyo on a fairly regular basis. We have gone much less recently and tonight was a reminder why. We had a 6:30 pm reservation and twice watched the hostess/manager disappear from the front entry for 10 min/each time. When she reappeared, it was like she’d immediately forgotten who we were. We would see her taking drink orders, delivering food, etc... All, very slowly too. They cannot keep track of reservations, are incredibly inefficient, etc. it was 1 hour 20 min after arrival before we saw food...and not our entree. I would NOT recommend going here...disappointed...used to live it.
Absolutely terrible service. Waited with a toddler) for 45 minutes to be seated and another 15 for a server to come over and they never did. Walked out after an hour without even ordering. Completely ruined my husband's birthday.
The staff was very rude and they was charging me for extra items that didn’t get!!
Great food and service.Very friendly staff and the chef was on point, 1st time I have tipped the cook for extra service ( removed butter when needed) and good skills...
We took a new person with a dairy allergy and she loved the experience..
We were a group of 10 for a birthday celebration - great place for groups, and lots of fun!
