Toku Unagi and Sushi opened its door in the fall of 2019 on La Cienega Blvd in an area renowned as one of the most luxurious dining areas in Southern California. Our specialty, the Unagi, are Premium Unagi directly imported from Japan every week. Continuing the legacy of our founder, with the same cooking method and the Toku's special sauce created over a century ago, you can now experience a truly authentic Japanese Unagi dishes one could not find here in the states before. Along with our Unagi, we also serve authentic sushi made by our very own Chef with decades of experience. His creations also includes sushi rolls unique to our restaurant. We also serve tapas style Toku original small dishes, unlike anything you'll find at other Japanese restaurants, as well as everyone's favorite and always popular Japanese Agemono (fried dishes).

Nice quaint Japanese restaurant. Authentic cuisine, the chef is from Japan and we had a very nice time. The cost was reasonable as we shared between 4 and were full by the end of the meal. Would definitely go again.

It’s been a while since I’ve last had amazing unagi, and this tasted better than most restaurants in Japan. Combined with the thoughtful service (we only ordered one unagi set, but we’re offered two bowls without needing to ask, a basket was offered to hold our jackets and other items so we didn’t need to hang them on our chairs, etc…), we’ll definitely be making our way back here in the near future. On this occasion, we ordered an Unajyu take set, a few items of nigiri and maki sushi, and an agedashi tofu — each was a delight in its own right, and authentically represented the flavors we have missed for the several years we haven’t been back to Japan. One last note: unlike many restaurants that dim the lights as the evening sets in, this one instead opened up the blinds as the sun set, letting in as much natural light as possible to appreciate the food and overall experience with.

Best grill eel in Los Angeles. The sushi was good. It is over price as the price is for each piece, which is not typical from my experience. It is always two pieces per order.

The menu offered both authentic Japanese sushi, unagi, and izakaya style dishes. I was told that Toku is part of a very popular restaurant group that specialize in unagi and this restaurant is the only place in Los Angeles that you can enjoy real unagi from Japan. It was a fabulous, exceptional experience.
