With our nightly specials everyone is sure to find something to suit their taste.
You will enjoy the atmosphere which will make you feel as if you were in Europe.
We all enjoyed Tokaj. A few of the dishes were a bit salty but everyone enjoyed their dinner. We think Tokaji is a very good place. Very good job overall.
Excellent and attentive staff. Food was delicious.
Food and service were very good but it takes too long to receive the main course.
Thoroughly enjoyed dining at Tokaj. Small intimate ambience with excellent food and wines. Highly recommend for a nice dinner out. Will definitely come back
Incredible food! Friendly staff even when they get overwhelmed with customers. Will go there again next time I'm back in this market.
Over an hour to get our first course!! food was good but far far to slow coming
lovely and romatic setting with violinist -- food and service are fantastic
our new favorite restaurant in all of Sarasota
Food was outstanding! A dining experience. Live violin music!
Fantastic Hungarian food in a lovely, small space. Violinist a nice touch! We will be back.
Terrific restaurant. We go there often. Great owners and staff.
Quality food great service will definitely return 👍
Staff were attentive to us, and food was authentic and excellently prepared
This was a find!! Excellent authentic Hungarian food in a charming setting, with violin music - couldn't ask for more. Generous servings - I had the roast duck which was delicious, with two duck legs!! Complimentary onion soup was included. Hungarian wine was delightful. Will return and will recommend to neighbors.
Excellent food, atmosphere and service, all at a reasonable price.
Excellent food, wine and service, and authentic cuisine. Definitely worth the drive!
Loved everything about this place! We can’t wait to go back again.
Outstanding night great food and very enjoyable violin music
Being adventuresome and wanting to try something new, we tried Tokaj. Trusting my luck and my instinct for good European cuisine, we tried Hungarian food for the first time. I was overwhelmed with the joyous flavors, as it tasted much like country French, but decidedly better somehow. With the violin player, the authentic Hungarian servers and of course, the cooking, we were both taken away that evening somewhere unknown and wonderful. Of course, we made reservations for the following month, just to experience it all over again. Thank you Tokaj for a wonderful anniversary celebration, it being your first and my wife's and mine, our twelfth year! Keep up the good work, y'all are nagyszuru (great)!
V good authentic Hungarian cuisine staff friendly and helpful
Great food and service. Eva always makes us feel welcome. Terrific food and many good options.
When my son comes to visit me from Long Beach CA we always look for an interesting new restaurant to try. We enjoyed an exceptional meal this past Sunday evening accompanied by most attentive service. Portions are generous...go with a big appetite and set aside time to slowly relish every bite. A true gem serving authentic Hungarian cuisine
no greeting by management. server did not know wines or much about foods. very heavy sauces. absent management.
Amazing food and service, intimate setting and wonderful violin music. Owner was very accommodating and friendly, allowing me to taste Hungarian wines. An outstanding experience!
We had rack of lamb, filet, cabbage rolls, fois gras, eveything was delicious. loved the fresh bread and cheese platter before dinner. service was crisp, and we had ine glasses replaced with each xdifferent wine we tried. highly recommend.
Exceptional service, food and value. We will make this a regular stop.
We were a party of 4 and everyone was pleased. Nice wine selection and lovely staff
We've been here multiple times since they opened. The food is always delicious and the service excellent!
Tokaj was not what we were really expecting. While the food was good, it was more continental than Hungarian. Of those I dined with one had grouper on linguini, one a veal chop with potatoes and vegetables and the 3rd duck with rice and vegetables . All were good, but aside from the cabbage with the duck, nothing seemed Hungarian.
A terrific new restaurant in sarasota with fabulous food and a staff that’s as friendly as having dinner with family
Will be there again in one week
Don’t miss eating here. The food was exceptional
Four people eating four different dinners We all loved everything. Plus the portions were very large. Wonderful violin player to set the mood
my dish (roast duck) was superb, not least because of the accompanying red cabbage and potatoes. unfortunately, my wife was not so happy--her pork was not tender, and we ended up sharing my copious portion of duck.
the wines were quite good and reasonably priced. the violinist could have been a nice touch, but his songbook was banal. all that was needed was the traditional Hungarian repertoire, but that was nowhere to be heard.
finally, the much-anticipated esterhazy cake was, alas, not very fresh. there's a good restaurant waiting to emerge here, but it failed to do so last saturday.
A neighbor gem with pleasant atmosphere and good service.
If you are looking for a charming, quaint and intimate restaurant with excellent food and service Tokaj should be on the top of your list. Our meal and service will be remembered for a long time. The pork tenderloin served on truffle toast and topped with foie gras was as tender as any tenderloin I have ever had. The seafood risotto was impressive with its large portion and jumbo scallops and writing this review makes me want to return tomorrow.
It was our first time dining at Tokaj and all of us enjoyed the evening. The food was delicious and the service excellent. Good value.
Best kale salad in Sarasota without question!
One meal very good, one came cold. They quickly replaced cold meal. Nice place, will try again.
A great little find! Lovely little restaurant with great food! Some Hungarian selections but many European/Mediterranean choices. Had the Hungarian pate - it was delicious! Just like we had in Budapest. Friendly staff; enjoyed out evening.
Excellent Hungarian food, very authentic. Service was also excellent. We tried several Hungarian wines and all were great!
Had a fabulous meal...salads were divine. We had the Caesar and the Kale. If you are a vegetarian the Vegetarian Risotto was delicious...tofu was nicely seasoned. My dinner mate had the roasted duck and he raved about it. We had a nice dry Hungarian white wine ...Irsaia Oliver wonderful. The only thing we wouldn't order again was the walnut, Eszterhazy Cake. We just didn't like the taste or texture. No worries, there are several other desserts to try when we return.
I was impressed with the restaurant. The chef has some great offerings. Its hard to find good Fois Gras. Theres is authentic. Their other entries were also very good. We had Mussles, Fantastic, a pork loin, fantastic The veal chop was very tasty and large. Presentation perfect, preparation perfect, Bread good and hot, No complaints.
Going again this next week
