Fine food and service. Interesting wine list. Great for special occasion
Food and service were perfect.Wine was perfectly paired with food.Perfect elegant evening.
Pleasant surprise to enter a quiet peaceful space. Food was excellent as were the wines. However all wines were pricey with no economical choices. Will definitely return
The website says diners should wear tie and jacket or business casual, but when i was there Monday evening, a diner was allowed to have dinner wearing a T-shirt. ???
On saturday evening we had the five course tasting menu with wine pairings. We welcomed the chance to try smaller portions of a larger number of dishes. The resulting meal was very enjoyable and the wine pairings equally apt and delicious. The service was outstanding; totally unpretentious. Tocqueville was a wonderful choice for our special occasion dinner.
A perfect romantic dinner, outstanding in every way. Superb food, perfectly attentive service and beautiful decor.
Great good. Great service. Great ambiance. Great experience. Amazing deserts
Very good!! Two complimentary desserts on the restaurant, very good service, will definitely come back! Recommended!!
Martini at $19 was tiny and seemingly watered down from ice melt. Salad was delicious but greens were under dressed. Maitre’d seemed bored and his description of dishes were garbled. No baguettes were offered and other bread offerings were sourdough and 7 grain of low quality. Sea bass entry and coffee were excellent.
I have dined here on 6 occasions and have previously been impressed on all accounts. Will try again hoping this was a glitch.
This is an outstanding restaurant in every way. Exquisite food, attentive service, fine wine.
We have been going to Tocqueville for many years and were sad to see a definite loss of ambience during this last visit. Two things struck us. First, when people left a table, no new setting was placed on it. This meant that by the time we left, half the tables were bare. Definitely depressing. Second, Tocqueville used to have a nice flower arrangement; not this last time.
In contrast, the service is remarkably good and the noise level is very low.
I had a wonderful experience with my friend.
The service and cuisine was impeccable.
Never disappoints ! From the delicious mini popovers at the bar to the staple creamy Parmesan grits to the Arctic Char cerviche you cant miss. Too full for desert ? No worries you will still be served wonderfully prepared parting sweets. Good value, good pours on wine! A welcome change from some of the neighboring restaurants with ever shrinking portions.
Had a wonderful dinner. Excellent service and excellent food. Lovely ambience makes it a positive experience. Highly recommend.
Tocqueville is a lovely, elegant restaurant and we love going there for our special celebrations. The food is wonderful, the service is seamless and excellent, and the food: sublime. The gorgeous, high ceilings and the ample spaces between tables gives the diners a beautiful feeling of privacy and serenity. We have had fantastic experiences over the years.
We had the most wonderful birthday dinner at Tocqueville. I have not one criticism- from the ambiance, the wine list, the service, the meal which was not only delicious but also a work of art on the plates.
This was our first time there and we will definitely be back.
Superior service with reasonable wine recommendations. Food was top flight
One of the best restaurants in NYC!
Incredible food. Wonderful atmosphere and service. But they need to fix the entrance and welcome when you arrive - there was no one there to greet us - a proper host or hostess is essential for a top end restaurant like this.
My husband and I were celebrating and wanted an elegant dinner. Tocqueville more than fulfilled our requirements. The atmosphere is soft, the greeting enthusiastic, the tables nicely spaced, the waiter and the sommelier helpful, and then there is the food. We savored every bite, and made a list of friends who would also enjoy it. Yes, we will be back!
Fatima, the event planner, is fantastic! She was full of wonderful suggestions, gave us all the time we needed, and had a solution for everything. She was obviously very experienced and was so professional with everything. And generally their attention to details and the execution of service were spectacular. The food was amazing! We loved the Black Sea Bass!
All the food tasted amazing but the service was horrible. The staff was nice and professional but it was the slowest service I think I’ve had at a restaurant in a while. Took a long time for them to clear plates/refill water (we had to do it mostly ourselves)/ refill wine/bring out food. Took an hour and a half for us to get appetizer and main course. It took so long and we were getting so tired that we skipped dessert even though we paid for it. I noticed the table next to us did the same since it took so long.
Food was pre plated and Luke warm. Dining area was very crowded as additional tables were added for Valentine’s Day. Waiter was indifferent. Very over priced for the quality and ambiance. I would not recommend.
Valentine's Day menu was wonderful, great choices, beautiful presentation and superb taste. Bruno, Miguel, Magda made the night perfect. Marco keep up the great ideas.....thanks all around for this wonderful neighborhood gem.
I loved them since they open but have not visited in at least 3 years - loved every piece of it ... best ambience in NYC
Lovely ambiance; attentive service, very well prepared food, we had a wonderful experience.
Everything was delightful, from the sophisticated decor, ambience, service and delicious food.
Tocqueville was just what I wanted: a beautiful, quiet room, delicious food and impeccable service.
The restaurant was elegant and service was excellent.
But, as with most of these top rated restaurants the food was good but not worth the money.
Duck - $48 for two very small pieces
All around great experience. Excellent food and service in very relaxed but elegant ambiance.
I was expecting something better
The service wasn’t the best
As good as dinning our gets. Faultless.
Excellent choice for a special dinner!
What a great meal and service. The tasting menu was the way to go.
delicious - elegant -attentive - can’t wait to come back
I love this restaurant especially the wine selection. But today the Duck Confit was too salty....
Great restaurant. The food is excellent. Straight forward and well prepared. Ambiance is wonderful. One can carry on a conversation in this restaurant. Beautiful room. Excellent service.
We just love the way they create the tasting menu here. It's like you're collaborating with the chef, getting to try things that jump out at you and those he feels show off his skills. On this occasion we were delighted that he included the pasta with uni. It's such a creamy rich taste thrill. And we love the scallop with fois gras which is so rich one is really enough. The staff is wonderfully attentive without being intrusive and the room is perfect for conversation.
Other then torn jeans and baseball caps it is a ten plus. The only disappointment was many of the clientele were dressed as if they we’re dining at Shake Shack.
Only if Tocqueville will adhere to their dress code.
