Always great! We love this place and if there is a chance to dine here we will never skip such an opportunity! Wonderful service, amazing food. I was really surprised by wild mushroom risotto. Delicious.

There are not many restaurants like this left in NYC.
Excellent food. Knowledgeable, thoughtful, delicious wine pairing with the Che’s menu.
Gracious, genial service. Nice pace.
The high ceiling and distance between the tables permits quiet, intimate conversation.
We will absolutely return.

We were at Tocqueville to celebrate a birthday. We had the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings and enjoyed one of the best meals we've ever eaten. From the moment we walked into the restaurant we felt that we were treated specially. The table was cleared and reset for each course. The sommelier described and poured the wine before each course with incredible panache with each wine beautifully complementing the flavors in each course. The food was served with grace and likewise beautifully described by the maitre d'.
This was indeed a fabulous evening.

The seven course tasting menu is to die for! The wine pairings were perfectly matched and a wonderful addition to our meal. The ambiance is perfect for a nice quiet dinner or a group gathering over delicious food. Will definitely be coming back again.

The Carbarnara with sea urchins and scallops with foie gras are amazing. We could not get enough of the great captain. This place features amazing service with delectables to match.

Great food, have been several times. We started off with the butternut squash soup and sea urchin. That was great. This time we had the duck, and the steak and short ribs. Everything was good and service was excellent. Would recommend.

Wonderful experience. Service was nearly omniscient. The food and the cocktails were so delectable I could not bear not to finish each course to completion. The room was large and cozy and had beautiful art on the walls to make the whole experience an elegant one.

Ordered white truffle risotto after asking specifically if it contained truffle oil (which I don't like) and being told no. Upon first bite overwhelming taste of truffle oil, when questions again the server checked with the chef and told us he does use 'a little bit'. Really disappointing, especially at the price charged. The Sea Trout is some sort of salmon that is drowned in red wine reduction - tastes like farmed salmon restaurants often serve buried in a sauce as the fish is flavorless. The duck was very good however, and the uni capellini was also good. Sommelier recommended a very good bottle of wine. We were comp'd a cheese plate which was a nice gesture, but unnecessary.
Nice room - however the food seems like it is right out of the 1990s - I think it sorely needs an update. And the servers should know what is in the food. I never complain about restaurants but I was so disappointed I couldn't let it go unsaid. Would not return.

We had a lovely evening at Tocqueville on Thanksgiving day. Though it was busy, the service was excellent, staff is attentive and polite. The food is amazing, the special menu was beyond our expectations. We had a great experience. Not the first time at this restaurant, and definitely not the last one. Thank you!

The noise level was distracting, we were never offered bread, while waiting for appetizer. Main dish was unappetizing. All staff was polite but somewhat disorganized. Meal of another table was delivered to my table. Finally the waiter seemed to indicate the 18% tip wasn’t adequate.

They practically ruined our Thanksgiving dinner. We (and many others) were waited 30+ minutes to be seated, the food was so so (and we’ve been to many fine dining restaurants) and the staff was not better than you would see at Chuck E Cheese; bringing our desserts before main course, then doing the same to the next table.
This place is a joke. I’m surprised by their high ranking... Maybe understaffed / overbooked for the Thanksgiving. But I won’t set foot again.

Still going strong. Great atmosphere and service. Food is consistently good, this time the duck was my favorite dish however the other 4 courses were fantastic. Really, that entire tasting menu with pairing was a work of art. Many Thanks to Fatima and Fran for making my husbands birthday memorable.

The bar was well stocked with the largest variety of scotch and bourbon that I have ever seen in NYC. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. The service was impeccable without being intrusive. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. An oasis of quiet in a busy and noisy city.

Excellent if you are in the mood for a staid experience. Food is excellent: consistent, beautifully-plated, and service is also professional. Decor and atmosphere is a bit dated and heavy - think Restaurant Daniel pre-renovation. Prices are VERY high ($ 16 desserts!) but not surprisingly so.

An expense account GO!

Toqueville is well out of its slump of a few years back. Food was great and imaginative.

The beef dish portion of the tasting menu was not what my wife expected, although nothing wrong with it. They graciously offered her an alternative.

Looking forward to going back

Quite expensive - and worth it. Food, ambiance, service, presentation all excellent. Perhaps for an "institution" of this caliber the menu could be a bit more avant guarde, but they certainly excel at what they do

Everyone was helpful and friendly from the lovely hostess to the charming bartender to the server, runners and bussers. Service was impeccable, even refolding the napkins every time you got up. Food was creative and perfectly prepared

Tocqueville is a very lovely and refined restaurant. The cooking is sophisticated and beautifully prepared, the environment is great, it's sort of Upper East Side meets Union Square, and you can see the care that went into the restaurant, not just for show but for those who expect a comfortable and elegant setting in which to enjoy a fine meal. I really like the space a lot, it's comfortably elegant.
