Super attentive service in lovely setting. Food is always great , with lots of novel dishes. Any pasta dish is superb. Wines are affordable.
The experience was superb. The service was flawless, not too fussy but always there when needed. The room is beautiful and one of the few places in NY where you can hear each other talk because of the generous space between tables. The menu offered many interesting choices and each of the six of us was extremely pleased with each course of our meal. We also enjoyed the various extras served compliments of the chef. We look forward to returning to this wonderful high end restaurant.
The servers were incredibly kind and accommodating. The tasting menu was amazing from presentation to taste.
Spring lunch special
Tocqueville never disappoints. Highly recommended!!
It’s was a wonderful evening with friends
Second time here. Remember special meal a few years back. This time there were pros and cons. A few things were bothersome. We were a party of two and we were put a table that would be good for two people or a party of four, but not two couples of two. They tried to seat several other couples right next to us but it was obvious to those folks that it was too close. Annoying that they were pushing for that at the expense of their customers and eventually they gave up on that. Also, very oddly, the beer was not cold enough and the coffee was not hot enough. Those are basics. I would also say that the service was efficient but not warm. On the plus side, and this matters a whole lot, the food was very good. Appetizers were great and the dinner overall was good. But at the end of the day, I felt the meal was not special and the overall experience fell short of expectations. Do not think we would bother to go back.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We had the 5 course tasting and it was excellent! We were also super appreciative of the front of house staff who could tell we weren't thrilled with our table and offered to move us to a different one as soon as that table had left. It was a great gesture of true restaurant hospitality!
I indulged in the vegetarian fare. It was superbly delicious. A close friend and I had coffee & dessert at Tocqueville 2 years ago. I'm delighted that I returned to further feast like a king!
Went there with the family and we all really enjoyed it. The food was great and the service was impeccable. We were surprised that apart from us there was only one other table at 8:00 pm at night but we can’t complain since it allowed us to have a conversation across the large square table. I would go again
Excellent service and food. Many creative dishes with flavor and wow factor. A very nice dinning experience.
A hidden gem in the Union Square are with an unbeatable pirx fixe lunch in a beautiful sophisticated setting. Food and service exceptional.
This restaurant only seems to get better, though unfortunately this seems a secret from those seeking only the latest, trendiest spot. Good for the rest of us, if not the restaurant. A handsome room, commodious and the pre theatre menu is a fine value. After 6:30 prices sharply escalate. Delicious home-made bread and butter. Our food was uniformly superb, beautifully plated. Service was very accomodating. Will return shortly.
Tocqueville is always great!
Quality, quality, quantity! Outstanding service and atmosphere. Went there for Easter dinner and were very please with our meals.
A wonderful restaurant over many years. The dining room was not full. This is a challenge! Can’t figure out the solution. Totally worth a visit in the fine dining category.
Simply outstanding in every way. Exceptional food and surroundings.
I went there for prix-fixe lunch with friends to celebrate a birthday. Service was very elegant, warm and friendly and food quality and presentation was excellent. They somehow knew it was a birthday and brought out a special dessert to celebrate. I loved my entree and can't wait to go back.
Overall, an excellent experience. The food was quite good although my cod fish entree was a bit bland with little to no accompaniments on the plate. Service was very good but unusually hurried for a restaurant of this caliber. All In, the meal was completed in just over 1 hour. Beautiful space.
Small number of tables, nicely spaced, keeps the noise level down. Also wonderful jazz/romantic music played at a low volume. The menu is small, but all the dishes are well prepared and presented. We eat there several times a year for over a decade. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable.
Overall a perfect experience, we had the 7 course tasting with wine pairing , every course was amazing if anything too generous, the servers were so hospitable and explained every course w/ detail , we can't wait to came back, best kept secret in NY, worth every dime!
Sublime, delicious cuisine (try the tasting menu) with gracious service. Delightful, cozy ambience with generous spacing between comfortable tables and high ceilings.
We dined here a couple of days ago and have to say that the food overall was exceptionally very good & lived up to our expectations! I also think that this restaurant is underrated and well deserves more accolades from the NY Times and Michelin rating, only if they could have improved & upgrade in their services, although the waiter & sommelier were very friendly & courteous...
We will definitely come back for more!
Impeccable on every level. The staff should give training to some other high-end eateries on how to look after guests seamlessly. WW
Impressive chef’s special. truth passion, not a technic.
We were very happy everything in tocqueville.
Duck’s skin(signiture dish) contained unique and long aroma like a bouquet of great wine.
We came for lunch on a snow day but were treated as if they were happy to be there only for us! The food was surprising and excellent, as was the service. Would recommend to anyone.
We wanted a relatively quiet restaurant with good food, attentive service and romantic atmosphere. Tocqueville met our expectations especially the service. We felt like our server was ours alone and that made a special occasion very special.
The was very hospitable. They kindly took our coats and were very attentive to our needs throughout the dining experience. The food was prepared elegantly. We loved the tenderness of the duck breast and the contrasting texture of the Granny Smith apple tart.
Excellent food and service . The sommelier was outstanding
It is a beautiful room and the food quite good as is the service. You can enjoy the meal in a quiet, classy room. My one complaint is that we did arrive in time for their 5:30-6:30 pre-fixe menu, but the menu was not offered to us. We were treating the other couple, and I felt uncomfortable asking for the menu in front of them, as if saying that they should order from it.
As a result the meal was very enjoyable, but more expensive than it might have been.
For my birthday I chose Tocqueville. We had a very bad traffic experience and Tocqueville was so kind to let us come a bit later. We ordered a la carte— for me the cheddar salad, scallops with one and a chocolate soufflé. All dishes were exceptional quality and the service was excellent. I would return.
Very expensive, and not quite worth it from the quality of the food preparation. In particular, their signature appetizer dish, angel hair pasta with California sea urchins was over-cooked in such a way that the pasta stuck together. The sea scallops with foie gras was a little over salty. These were not fatal flaws, but when you are spending $100+ per head, you expect quality commensurate with price.
Wines by the glass could stand a greater variety. In general a very nice evening, but I doubt that I will return..
As always, I had a lovely dinner. The service is omniscient with out being overbearing. The food is perfectly portioned and is as beautiful as it is delectable. The dining room is large with high ceilings giving an elevated experience a bit more grandeur. The art is also complimentary and quite lovely.
Very pleasant , calm, elegant dining room. Nicely balanced menu. Trout tartar , Lobster Ravioli starters are outstanding. Cod, Sea Trout entree equally very good. Wine list is broad and extensive with huge price point availability ($50-$14,000) including some lesser known producers and regions. Outstanding sommelier. Service is professional, efficient, and attentive.
Very nice restaurant to enjoy food, ambiance and service. Also very nice location.
We had a wonderful "special occasion" meal at Tocqueville. Each dish was carefully crafted and very enjoyable. The wine list was expansive. We will be back!
We had a lovely evening from the service right down to the last crumb. The food was deliciously executed and the wine pairings were on point. Anything but average. Would recommend to anyone seeking a great quality experience.
In fact it was my last meal in newyork! I was so fascinated about your signature drinks cause it was so nice! Overall the server was the kindest man I’ve ever met and the dishes I served was absolutely nice and fine among the fine dining restaurants in newyork!
