The waitress was very pushy and unprofessional. She pick up a dirty napkin from the floor and put it on our table next to our straws for our drinks .
She was completely unaware of her infection control problem and thought it was OK to put a napkin on the table from the floor.
The here breakfast may be good! What I can tell you as fact is the dinner was hideous! It was planned case list and causes great nausea throughout the remainder of my evening. Truly the high point of the evening was the salad.
Not worth going to! Just stay away.
We found Toast on a whim, after searching for a very reasonable, good tasting, friendly place, Toast is our go to spot, we have never been let down. the wait staff are ecceptional.
we reccomend everyone try Toast.
Toast really needs a deep clean and a redo. We were at the Summerville Toast. I asked the waiter how many scampi’s came in the meal and he didn’t know and didn’t volunteer to find out. We were to get cornbread with one entree, but instead received biscuits only after we inquired about with the hostess and the waiter. They arrived near the end of the meal. The food was tasty, but my shrimp and grits had only six small shrimp and lots and lots of grits.
Great food. Nice atmosphere. She crab soup and pimento cheese were delicious. Oddly enough, there were several seafood items on the menu but the restaurant was out of both Tatar and cocktail sauces.
Not the best experience for first time dinner here and on Valentines Day.
Not prepared for Valentines dinner, food cold and over an hour to get meals. The crab dip and pimento cheese was awesome.
For a very busy Valentine's Day, they did a great job. The food was very good and the service was great! The dining area was quite packed and a little crowded but it gave us the opportunity to meet a couple next to us (almost sharing a table) who we look forward to seeing again.
I was not sure what to expect with the reviews I read. I was very pleased with my experience at Toast. My server, Daniel, was great. I asked him to add unsweetened tea to my glass and he remade my peach tea. He then waited to find out if I liked it! My husband had the sweet tea fried chicken and it was fantastic. I had the lemon chicken. It was good, although I didn’t notice that it actually tasted like lemon. Not a big deal since it was juicy and otherwise perfect. I loved the mashed potatoes. They are on the thin side with lovely chunks of potatoes. We were there at 5p and had the whole front section to ourselves. I’m sure it was quiet because of where we were. I will not hesitate to return in the future.
Overall the food was not bad just completely uninspired and basically average at best. Server was obviously new to his craft but he tried hard. Got desert to-go and Tiramisu was dry and was not edible. Saving grace was the bartender triple pours the Scotch.
Great place to meet up with friends and celebrate birthdays! Love the sweet tea glazed fried chicken!! I order that every time I go!
Waitress was very pleasant, but inattentive.
House Salad was nice size and tasty.
Meal (fried chicken, mashed potatoes, vegetables) was barely warm. Chicken was bland and flavorless.
Peach cobbler desert wasn’t too bad, but nothing to brag about, and it, too, was barely warm.
Overall very disappointed.
Great food. Service was a bit lacking but good food made up for it.
Arrived at 2pm for a Thanksgiving dinner. I knew we were in trouble when I asked questions about the Special Thanksgiving menu. They had only Sweet Potato Pie and Coconut cake for desert -NO Substitutions. OK - wife could take home an extra desert.
Next we ordered Turkey for my wife and Ham for me...
Was advised they were out of Ham and Cranberry sauce.
My only choices now were lunch and breakfast menus.
My Thanksgiving dinner was Steak and Eggs - mediocre at best.
Won't be going back.
Great menu great service!!
The fried flounder was the recommended entree. It was heavily breaded with little flounder under the breading. I would not recommend the entree.
My experience was very good, with a minor hiccup. The wait staff was very friendly and very helpful as well. I had order the beef tenderloin as medium, and it came out a little under rare. I did send it back and had them put it back on the grill for a few more minutes. When it came back, it was delicious and still tender. Other than that, the atmosphere, food, staff, and experience was absolutely phenomenal. I cannot wait to go back.
Our waiter, Jennifer was great.
The only part we were not crazy about was they didn't give us time to enjoy our salad before the food came out, felt we were rushed.
I had been waiting to try Toast for a while, we moved here a year ago and my husband had been to the other location downtown but we had yet to make the one by us in Summerville. The staff was really nice so I can't say anything bad about the customer service. But the food was not all that great. I ordered a salmon, spinach salad and my salmon was overcooked. The portion was filling but with it being overcooked it just wasn't what I expected. My husband ordered she crab soup and the crab cakes. The she crab soup had WAY to much sherry wine in it, that he wasn't even able to eat half of the cup. He loves crab cakes but even those won't anything to write about. They were overbreaded and overcooked so they ended up being really dry. Such a bummer for I was so excited!!
Toast was really good. They had a big variety of food & it was all good. Hard to believe this little hidden gem was SO good and the atmosphere was good too.
Crab dip was very fishy. Couldn't eat it. Chicken was good, but sides were not. If the meal was tasty, would not have minded the price. Waiter was good. He was also the bartender.
Ethan was a great waiter. Very efficient and attentive. Liked the sweet tea fried chicken particularly
Great menu. Reasonable prices ($50 for a couple). Good atmosphere for a date or date night. Great tasting food and first class servuce. The food presentation would make you think of a 5 star restaurant.
We totally enjoyed our visit. Our waiter was patient with us while we decided what we would enjoy - and it enjoy it we did!!😃 The food was excellent, the portions great, and the prices very reasonable . We had a great time! Thank you for your hospitality. Weill be back!😃
Our family of five went for Father's Day and had a very enjoyable dinner. The food was all very good, kids had fried shrimp, one had the burger w/pimento cheese which he loved, husband had the fried catfish which was really good and more than he could eat. I had an awesome salad with tons of grapes and walnuts that was triple what I could eat! There were 3-4 other tables filled when we arrived and we loved the giant roomy booth and the lovely atmosphere. Being in a strip plaza, I would never have guessed it would be so nice and serve such great food but we went there because we had been given a gift card. It is not so fancy that you can't bring the kids but nice enough that you could definitely go for Date Night. Really glad we tried it and we will be going back again!
The bartender was friendly & welcoming. Glass of sparkling wine for first timers! Staff in dining room was efficient & pleasant, letting us take our time. Shrimp & grits was just okay but fried oysters were very good & plentiful. Just a notch above pub fare. Would try another place when back in the area.
Had reservation but had to wait.... Good food except ice tea glazed chicken was dry..... Waiter didnt offer desserts.....
We had a good dining experience although they never received the open table reservation. We were seated without it. Your review should begin with a rating of whether the reservation was acknowledged. I have not downloaded your app because this was my first attempt at using open table. Randy Harling
The servers were vey attentive. Food was kind of bland.
Made Mother's Day reservations and was extremely disappointed to find out that my party could not be seated for at least 30 minutes. What's the purpose of making reservations, and arriving on time if the establishment is going to over book like an airline carrier? Needless to say, we decided not to wait and took our business to another establishment. You can't give away reserved tables to walk up customers. Just don't take reservations.
Went for Mother's Day brunch buffet. Great selection and mimosas. Cozy corner table at bar. Friendly and attentive service from bartender, who is also a veteran (always glad to tip a vet).
We made reservations for a Mothers' Day luncheon and arrived on time only to find even with reservations, we would have an hour or more wait. There were at least 10 other families waiting with reservations as well. We cancelled our reservation with great disappointment.
Had Mother's Day brunch. The food was good and the watress was very attentive. The atmosphere was nice even as busy as it was. I give our watress 5 stars, but have to deduct 2 stars from service because we arrived 5 minutes before our reservation and still had to wait 45 minutes past our reservation to be seated. Not sure the point in reservations if you still have to wait.
Good food for sure! The main issue is that we made reservations and were seated 30 minutes later. When we arrived, the hostess had names down on a wait list and we were put on this list even though we had reservations. C'mon now! We should have been seated in five minutes but had to wait. Additionally, many tables were open and the staff did not have a good understanding of what tables were available.
The special mothers day buffet of crab cakes, shrimp and grits, French toast, along with other delightful entrees was great. The food was very good. I would definitely come back next year.
Great service and management. Food quality was ok. Service timing was a bit off. Apps and salads arrived within 5 min of the main course, which was undercooked. Manager and wait staff were very attentive, but the kitchen is lacking.
It was okay. They forgot to add cheese to omelet and only offered to bring side of cheese, not the same. Server was not around much even though restaurant was slow. Took a long timw to get check and hostess finally came over to take credit card. Guessing downtown is a better experience. Good enough wouldn't go back though.
Service was good. The food was overall good. The biscuit I had was a little dry, but friend who also had one said hers was good. Third friend had the french toast and said it was wonderful.
Was fantastic food and service. A favorite for sure as new residents!
