The food was good but they were out of most beers and drinks from the drink menu. No cornbread was ready at 5pm even though it was supposed to come with the meals. The modifications to the kids meals was not honored (switching from assorted fruit to one kind) and the server acknowledged it but didn’t bother to correct it.
Food is overpriced for the quality. The menu had some great options but the quality of the food was not what we expected. Service was mediocre at best. Maybe better for breakfast but we will not return for dinner.
Took forever to get our drinks. They were out of the first two we ordered. Then ordered soup and sandwich. Sandwich came out 10 min before soup. Sandwich tasted really good but PoBoy had 4 shrimp and 4 oysters. We were charged $12.95 + $6.95 for the one sandwich. The okra gumbo was not good. Our waitress was very nice, but feel that she was overwhelmed and the bad food and bad service were not her fault. We will not be back
Slow service, ordered breakfast and grits seemed old. Had to ask for silverware as did others. Waited 15 minutes for server to come back to the table to be able to pay so we could leave.
Good food, selection and service. It's always a nice spot for a comfortable meal
Great place to stop and re-fuel with well prepared and tasty food!
Great dinner with my sons. Food was excellent- one of my favorite shrimp and grits dishes I’ve had in charleston. We ate outside and it was very pleasant. Will go back again!
The waitress/hostess was amazing! Extremely friendly and informative!
Went here for my daughter's 16th birthday and she had a blast. Food was great.
Service and food was delicious! Thank you
This place is great. The hostess was so nice to us. Our server went over and beyond. The food was great. Our 83 year old aunt had a great day. We were visiting from out of town and never felt rushed. It was a great experience. We will return.
The didn’t see our reservation and seated another large party ahead of us. Didn’t have enough high chairs until half way through our meal. Forgot my order so I had to wait an additional 20 minutes. My moms food was cold. My brothers food was sent back.
Sad little restaurant with plastic tablecloths and no appeal or charm whatsoever. The salmon entree was tasty and the coconut cake was delicious but overpriced. The decent food could not compensate for the unappealing atmosphere.
Food was excellent. I had the smothered pork chops with collard greens and fried okra. My wife had fried shrimp. No complaints.
Food was good, service was good, no complaints what so ever.
Both the service and the food were excellent!
We have eaten at Toast in Summerville previously- their food was always very good with good service- we expected the same in West Ashley and went there for Valentines dinner- the restaurant was almost empty at 7 pm. Once seated our waitress took our drink orders and disappeared into a back room- the bartender was chatting with a friend at the bar and was not busy, finally our waitress returned and placed our order with the bartender( this was repeated each time we placed an order). Appetizer was ordered and waitress disappeared again. When she returned with the first course- she took our food order and empty glasses and disappeared again. While she was gone- a singer suddenly started wailing loudly in an un known language and was so loud it made conversation impossible, and she continued nonstop until we finished eating a terrible meal( the ribeye was a quarter inch thick and full of fat and gristle), paid and left. A totally horrible experience. I took my wife out for crab legs the next evening to make it up to her.
I felt that Toast was under-staffed. Our server seemed to have forgotten about us, never cleared our empty glasses and bottles until the very end, and the actual wait time for drink and food was way too long. It wasn’t that busy, but I only saw two servers working the entire restaurant. On a positive note, the staff was pleasant.
Well last time I was here my food was awesome!! That’s what made me come back. But this time I wasn’t happy. I ordered their Surf and Turf breakfast, steak medium well. The steak was delivered well done. I advised my waitress of the error who stated another steak will be cooked. Sadly she left the rest of the food on the table which now means you replace my steak with a hot medium well steak but the rest of my food is cold(shrimp, potatoes and even the biscuit. I received the bill with no mention of the steak error, not even a manager came by to offer an apology. What happened to Customer Service? I did get the meal removed after I told the waitress to get her Manager who still never came to the table.
I wasn’t satisfied with my meal but the Fiancé enjoyed his meal.
Quaint, creative decor. Efficient, friendly service. Excellent food (especially homemade biscuits, she-crab soup and shrimp salad). Cozy booths. Outstanding coffee bar. Exceptional bartender (Sandy). Food was very reasonably priced. Manager personally greeted us, by opening the front door. Amazing restaurant, and that’s coming from a family of dining connoisseurs.
Everyday breakfast sandwich was awesome. Got a side of gravy but it was too watery. Other than that place was great!
Excellent crab cakes. Too die for!!!. Service need to improve though...a little slow.
Always fantastic! The staff and food are amazing!
I will certainly make a return visit -probably for lunch again!
Food was enjoyable and service was excellent! A relaxing place to get a nice dinner with a loved one.
Downtown food without the downtown wait or parking issues!
Excellent experience! The food is outstanding! This is certainly the best breakfast I have had in Charleston. It was nice to have a reservation but there was no wait time on a Monday morning. Can't wait to go back soon!
Amazing find, Friendly staff and Delicious food. We went there for our anniversary. They have free wifi and have projectors for presentations. Food was excellent and good prices,
Thank you for the great evening! Not only do I love you all for breakfast, but dinner was awesome too!!!
Food was great however service was slow and it took 35 minutes to get our food after we ordered and we ordered easy breakfast food. It was also very hot in side and they should have lowered the air, especially when it's in the 90s right now.
Quaint little place where the locals gather. Very informal, casual. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. I loved the food. Will definitely make it a regular stop when I'm in Charleston.
Food and service was excellent, but the air conditioning was out. It was also out during Fathers Day. Management needs to work harder to resolve this as summers in Charleston can be awfully hot. AC is a must.
Will definitely be back!
Both times we've dined here the staff was exceptionally polite and attentive and the atmosphere was serene; nice for conversation. This would be a good place to hold a small book club meeting or something similar.
Great service, great food, and very friendly staff! We will be back again.
Last two times at the West Ashley location the air conditioning has been broken...miserable time eating in such intense heat!!!
We had the Fried Green Tomato BLT with french fries and the Eggs Meeting Street with home fries. Both were excellent. Our server was very nice and very attentive. Very reasonably priced, delicious food. Would definitely recommend this place.
Great food as always. Seated quickly. Crab cakes were excellent!
Great food, great for small or large groups! If you're at the one in West Ashley, make sure you lock your car doors!
