We are regulars at TJ's because we can count on friendly, knowledgeable service and always fresh seafood.
Once more TJ's comes through with fabulous fish every time. We go frequently for a dozen oysters and Truffle french fries, plus, of course, Hay Maker Sauvignon Blanc. But last night was Lobster Night and we scored again. The lobster was fresh and very tender, not oversized, just about the best we've ever had. Thanks once again, TJ's.
TJ's is one of my go-to places in Dallas. Other places serve seafood, but no one makes sure it's as fresh and prepared properly as does Jon Alexis the owner of TJ's. It's one of the few places in town I'll eat raw oysters, because I know they are sourced and prepared properly. This is not a big fancy place. It's small and intimate and local. I love it
Great food and service (Rene is always very helpful and provides great service).
TJs never disappoints! The food is always great, and the staff is very knowledgeable. The atmosphere is quiet and more well lit than most restaurants. This is a great place for a good meal, but if you are looking for a romantic or fun atmosphere, try somewhere else. But for my purpouses, it is the best!
Halibut was tremendous. Friendly staff and great all around experience!
Drove 45 minutes for a lobster roll only to be told Wednesday's only!
Not a place I will choose to dine at again. The food was inadequate and bland. Crab cakes were mostly filler and everything else was below the norm. Service was great. Our waitress was sweet and accommodating.
We live close to TJ's but haven't been there in a while. It was better this time than the last time we were there which was at least a couple of years ago. The service was good and friendly. The food was well prepared and delicious. We will definitely go back more often.
Food is exceptional! Makes up for the very casual environment - open kitchen style (not the place for a romantic dinner) and the limited menu. If you want an excellent, fresh fish meal without any "fluff", TJ's is definitely worth it!
First time to TJ's. You will probably have to park behind the stores. It is not a big restaurant but there were open tables when we arrived. Very casual setting. The service was excellent. He made recommendations that were spot on. The meal was great. I had fish tacos, which were perfect. Overall o highly recommend
Locale and ambience so so.
And totally overpriced in comparison.
Food was good, halibut was a little dry but otherwise tasty. Great service, drinks kept filled and serving staff confirmed nothing was needed.
Food was very good. However if you order calamari & like it crispy be sure to tell them that or it will be soft & wilted.
Family of 7
The seafood at TJ's is excellent and every dish ordered was wonderful.
First time at the Oak Lawn location and wanted to introduce my husband to a nice place near home for fresh seafood.
The restaurant was full and my reservation placed us in a table against a wall which was somewhat claustrophobic for me. I would have preferred to sit near the front store window.
The table, however, afforded us the opportunity to view the glass display full of fresh fish which was impressive. We started with the shrimp cocktail and the shrimp were so large and tasty, it could have served as my entree. For the entrees, my husband ordered the New England Lobster Roll and I chose the Rainbow Trout with lemon butter, the day's' veggie which was squash and zucchini. A side order of truffle fries was also requested.
All in all, the food was amazing and my husband cleaned his plate. Our waiter was more than attentive and helpful the entire time.
TJ Seafood Market - This venue does an amazing at having Chef design dishes with only the freshest seafood. It's been my experience from the Blue Point, Malpeque down to whatever's flown fresh is very tasty. On Tuesday's they offer 50% off on their wines as well. One last note, before you go they host a fresh seafood counter with recipes note cards for the taking.
So delicious and wonderful service! We had such a great dinner here and will definitely be back.
This was a lunch visit involving three vehicles and various parking problems. One of us parked on the street and hiked to the restaurant. We lucked out and found a spot that the valet actually pointed out was about to be empty. The third person almost had a wreck when someone was going down the up aisle behind the strip center containing T.J.’s. So, parking is definitely a concern. The valet is located mid-strip center, several doors down from T.J.’s. Preferable to self-parking, or avoid noon lunch time.
The food was very good. Nice dark roux in gumbo. They gladly brought a sample of their tuna salad for one of the guests to try before ordering. It was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their selections. The place is quite small and seating is tight. But, the service and food compensate for the lack of space. I definitely recommend reservations.
There is also a market case of fresh fish to purchase and take home. I didn’t get to see everything available, but if I lived in that area, I would shop there.
Thanks to Chelsea, our dinner was fabulous. She guided us thru the menu to make the best choices. Great wine, half priced bottles and fresh, fresh seafood. Love that citrus glaze. Thanks for a perfect evening.
First fish shop/restaurant I’ve ever been to that didn’t smell like the dock. Probably the best crab cakes I’ve ever eaten. Small but adequate wine list. Attentive and knowledgable (but not annoying) service. Overall excellent! I’ll get back the next time I’m in Dallas.
Best Fish and Chips I've ever had. Lobster Roll was also top notch!
very over priced for what you get
no atmosphere what so ever
Food is unmatched, service as well. Oak lawn location is smaller and more of a market so not an upscale ambiance but still was pleasant. Food was on the pricey side but not out of line for the quality.
Second time at TJs and enjoyed it as much as the first time.
I tried the Shrimp Enchiladas and did not regret it. Just enough of a kick to the sauce to allow the favors to come out in your mouth. Both side dishes were tasty especially the coconut rice. Key Lime cheesecake for desert finished off a great evening with my spouse and best friend.
The fish here is so Frisch & delicious. My Caesar salad with grilled salmon was outstanding & my husband loved both his fish & shrimp tacos. The only disappointment was the gumbo, because the roux was too thin & oily. I’m excited to go back & try other dishes.
Had never been to for brunch and although it was OK, most likely not return for that particular meal. Breakfast potatoes were a huge letdown. They seemed very much like frozen out of a bag. Devoid of any flavor, even salt and pepper could not save them. Will stick to lunch or dinner.
Freshest, consistent seafood in town!!
Always great food and service. So nice to have a casual place for quality seafood
Love this place; so convenient and always fresh. This was my first brunch experience and I had the salmon hash which was good but not great. I would order something else the next time but there are plenty of choices. Service was very good.
Really enjoyed the lobster...great food...and good service...just not the most comfortable restaurant - you don’t want to linger here... kind of in and out only...
Excellent food and service in a simple atmosphere. The fresh seafood counter was mouth watering.
Reservation was honored and seated immediately and the place was packed. So thank you Open Table and TJ's. Service was a little dicey at the beginning but the place was humming. After 5 minutes we were recognized and from that point on it was clear sailing. The food was fabulous, the oysters were yummy and Sunday night was oyster night so good price. Calamari was okay but my wife ordered a fish taco (cod) and she thought the best she has has. I had the red snapper done perfectly with a nice glaze. And I do single out the mash potatoes. So service was great, food was fabulous but when it allows BYOW we know there is a corkage fee. A 25.00 corkage fee we felt was excessive. We have paid $ 5,10,and 15 but we have never paid 25.00. Shame on us for not asking shame on you for not letting us know or listing fee on menu. If it was listed oops.
Had great service and the food was really good. We were there on Tuesday so it was half price wine by the bottle so the meal was a great value.
Always great fresh fish with attentive service. The food never disappoints
This place is so quaint and casual, but also elegant and has great service. The food is so fresh and delicious. Great options for all diets. We've tried at least 5 different things on the menu and everything has always been exceptional.
Best simple seafood I have had in Dallas.
Loved I️t! The calamari was amazing and the soup of the day was a delish fish chowder :)
We love the lobster roll. It is a bit pricey but worth every bite. It as close to an east coast lobster roll as you can get in Dallas. Appetizers were excellent too!!!
