The staff was fantastic and knowledgeable! Food was absolutely delicious everyone at my table RAVED about the delicious food and extensive menu options!
We have been going to TJ’s consistently since it opened and it’s always a great time. The staff is super welcoming, totally professional, they make a great cocktail and the food is delish. The menu is also impressive in its variety, as far as options and price range. Major thumbs up to TJ’s, they never disappoint and we always leave very happy and very full !
My two teenage grandsons and I had an excellent dinner. Service was great.
We had a very tasty meal and great service. The specials were excellent!! Recommended!!
Good food, nice atmosphere, spacious bar area
Sorry- we keep going back because it is so close to home. But the food continues to disappoint. It was better when it was Diamonds.
Good food, moderately priced. Drinks were a bit pricey, but expected. Would return.
Poor quality food
Have always liked TJ's have come to this restaurant for years. Love where it is.
Great value. Food is really good and the wine selection and pricing is very good.
We love this place for their inside and outside dining options and the ability to create large tables for big parties.
Excellent as always! Our go-to place!
The food was delicious, the atmospere is warm, and the staff seems to be very anxious that their customers are happy. We all enjoyed the evening very much and will definitely be return customers.
So lucky to have this neighborhood gem close by! We are always happy to see Will the maitre'd who is the consument gentleman while holding the door for us and ushering us to our preferred seating which is a booth. The menu offers a variety of choices and we've developed some favorites: the Clams Casino are out of this world as is the Chicken Francaise. Good wine list. If you are in the mood for lighter fare than an entree there are sandwiches, salads and gourmet pizzas. The food is always fresh. Our servers are always on the ball, cheerful, and helpful with the menu. Can't wait until our next visit!
Great overall would recommend
Great food and great service.
A local treasure, TJ's has the whole package -- great food, terrific service, and a lovely ambiance. Highly recommended. (Linguine with clams is Better Half's favorite; mine is anything seafood!)
We are so lucky to have T J's back as our regular neighborhood restaurant! Something for everyone on the menu. Delicious cuisine, great friendly and efficient service, nice ambiance!
While food was good other local restaurants offer same good food for lower price.
Service & comfort while dining were equally as good but the combined price of the appetizer/salad/entre is high in comparison to other close by establishments
Three of us 50-somethings had a nice dinner at TJ's. My wife and our friend loved their Chicken Francaise, in fact they raved about it. The waitress and kitchen were very accommodating as our friend requested vegetables as a substitute for the pasta, which is normally the bed for the Chicken Francaise. Our waitress never disappeared, which is a good thing and she checked on us regularly.
My Chicken Saltimbucca was a little disappointing - they could improve the sauce and make it a little less salty, and perhaps a better quality proscuitto, and more thinly sliced. But that is the "foodie who wants perfection" in me. Others may love TJ's Saltimbucca - it wasn't just right, FOR ME.
Over all, the staff is well trained and pleasant and the food is very good. I suspect TJ's will continue to be around for a long, long time. Don't feel bad that I didn't give 5 stars. 5 star restaurant meals are a rarity these days. The owners and staff at TJ's should be proud of the delicious food, atmosphere and service they provide.
(Update) I forgot to say that all three of us shared the large-size Arugula salad and loved it.
So happy to have T J's back in Pennington! Great neighborhood restaurant with very good Italian food. Good and varied menu whether you want a full entree, just a salad or hamburger. Very nice and welcoming staff. Our "go to" that you can count on!
The reason I rated the value at 2 stars is that my daughter ordered the scallop special that was $34. The dish had just 4 scallops with about a pound of potatoes. The scallops were small/medium size, perhaps if they were colossal scallops, it might be more worth it.
My husband loves clams casino, and he said the bacon was overdone and the clams were tough. He said Metro Grill in Ewing has the best, which I believe are the same owners, so why not use the same recipe?
The rest of the meal was good. We do like TJ's ambiance and that it is a convenient spot for us, so we will try it again. Paige waited on us and was lovely, she made the evening very stress free! :)
Our first visit since TJ’s reopened and replaced Diamond’s.
I must say I was underwhelmed. The menu was “old school” and needs updating with the modern cuisine and healthier options. Many items seemed to be overpriced as well. There were no vegetarian or vegan choices. The lighter fare selections were a joke. This sad since we were excited to see their return to Pennington.
The food was amazing and the service super! The atmosphere is very comfortable and personable but yet elegant - great combination. The Sangria is so good and food hit the spot!
Great Italian food. Great neighborhood standby and every week restaurant. You can count on delicious food with interesting specials! Nice selection of wines, good drinks. Roomy booths or tables with a cozy attractive interior. Good servers, too!
The service and food were both really great! It’s a bit pricey though but a great choice for special occasions - we would definitely go back
So glad to have TJ’s back! My wife and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary with rack of lamb and surf & turf, which were both delicious. We will be back for more again and again.
Excellent dinner. Staff professional and friendly. Food excellent.
Frequent guest at this restaurant when it was Diamond’s, so decided to give it a try under new ownership. I ordered chicken parm; my husband ordered veal parm, which had two nice pieces and some pasta. Unfortunately, one of the pieces of veal had a bad taste (I also tried it too). Sent it back and ordered something else. The restaurant staff didn’t care one bit. We mentioned it to the manager who replied “the chef and I tried it and it was fine”! They tried the other piece; not the one that we did. Suffice to say, TJ’s, we are disappointed. Thanks
The food was great, we had a table in a private area and the restaurant was decorated beautifully for the holidays.
BUT..... we constantly felt like we were being rushed to finish our meal. The wait staff hovered over us to take our plates as soon as it looked as if we may have finished eating. The restaurant was emptying of other diners so there were more staff available, who all came to clear the table as some of us we still eating our entrees. Our waiter stood over us to take our dessert orders, not really giving us a chance to consider our choice. And they continued to clear the table as we were eating.
We really enjoy the food and the ambience
Great experience, five of us all had great meals. Service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.
Excellent meal and service. We’re really glad TJ’s is back in Pennington
Private room was very cool
Great food, restaurant could use a bit of updating & less old world music
We have come here a few time since it re-opened as TJ's and many times in it's incarnation as Metro 31. The food is reliably good as is, usually, the service.
However, on our most recent visit we were very disappointed in the service. We sat at the bar, as we often do. There were 2 bartenders, Rich and Frank. Rich is always pleasant and helpful, but he was working a different part of the bar, so Frank was our server. He was unhelpful and rude. For instance, I tried to remind him that he had made a special kind of Manhattan for us on a previous visit. His response was "I have NO idea what you're talking about". That is not the way to talk to a customer! Then when my husband wanted to order a thin crust pizza, Frank told him he could make one with whatever my husband wanted on it, but when my husband asked for Manchego or goat cheese, Frank said "I don't know if we have that" and did not seem interested in going to find out. So, we could get anything we want on it, as long as it was listed on the menu. Then he acted as if my husband was being difficult in asking for what he wanted. I must mention here that my husband is lactose intolerant and can't have cow's milk cheese, but can have Manchego or goat cheese. Therefore, it was very important for him to know what kind of cheese was on the pizza. Frank was not at al interesting in helping!
This experience was bad enough that in the future I will call ahead and make sure Frank is not tending on the night we plan to go.
Service was great and food was delicious. They were very patient in letting us sit and chat and enjoy our lunch and conversation.
My wife and I have a wonderful date night at TJs. We enjoyed the seasonal specials, I had the apple pork chop and my wife had the butternut squash pappardelle in sage butter sauce. Our server Paige was very attentive. We really loved the relaxed atmosphere. Would recommend and try again.
