Located on a landmark block in west Chelsea, Tipsy Parson is a 70-seat American brasserie, serving lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.
Tipsy Parson serves refined comfort food, focusing on Regional American favorites, with a nod to Southern classics.
The menu revolves around reinterpretations of classic American home-cooking.
The full-bar features classic American cocktails, a curated selection of small-batch bourbons, and coffee service from Kitten Coffee in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
The main dining room looks out over a small, lush garden and is available for private events. The front room has casual seating for 8, seated dining for 22 and accommodates 14 at the bar.
We accept online reservations for parties up to 12 guests.

We had a great brunch here on Sunday. Only downside, we were sat in the adorable window which was great until the hostess stand area filled up with brunch goers hoping for a seat. My view of my husband and the window seat were great, my husbands view of the groups of people and nothing else? Not so great.
not sure if something was going on in the kitchen -but my friend and I both got the fried chicken and it was extremely salty and had a strong vinegar flavor. I like salty food but this was too much. the biscuit, while flavorful, was also extremely salty. slaw was just shredded cabbage with zero mayo, etc to make it actual cole slaw. For the price I expect better quality food.
Let me preface this review with the fact that my wife is a chef at a reputable NYC restaurant and I have the utmost respect and admiration for those who work in this industry. I have been to this restaurant many times and my experience was always great. However, that was not the case during this visit. It was a late brunch reservation (3:30), and I imagine the kitchen was trying to switch over for dinner service. That is the only reason I can think of for why the service and food were so poor. We tried to place an order for drinks and apps, and were told we needed to place the full order at the same time. So we did, repeated the app order, plus gave the entree order. Our entrees arrived about 15 minutes later, and the apps did not. We inquired, and the food runner had no clue. Then our server came to check on us (which typically means all the food has been delivered), and we inquired again. His response was "oh, you wanted those as apps?" I asked if they had even been fired (in the kitchen), and he said he would need to check. Which clearly means no. I said "if they aren't fired yet, we'll just cancel them" and he said he would take them off the check. As opposed to what? Leaving something on the check we never received? In addition, they ran out of iced coffee, the "poached egg" on the avocado toast was overdone (yet somehow slimy), and the scrambled eggs on the mushroom toast had clearly been sitting out for an extended period of time. Our empty plates went uncleared for over 15 minutes, even though we were 1 of 2 tables in the entire restaurant and they had 6-8 staff wandering around. In general, it was disappointing to say the least. There was absolutely no ownership or apology for anything. If you're going to take late brunch reservations, patrons should be provided the same level of service as the early birds.
A wonderful dinner with family in town visiting. Delicious entrees including fried chicken and Mac and cheese. The hush puppies and fried pickles are a must! Our waiter knew we had to leave for our concert and was efficient with our order! Can’t wait to go back!
The portions were small considering the pricing. I ordered the seafood boil which was one of the more expensive items on the menu and the waiter warned me the portion was large. What arrived was a nearly empty large bowl. It had 2 clams, 1 razor clam, 1 mussel and 1 tiny tiny shrimp. The rest was filled with potatoes. I got about 2 slices of sausage. That’s all that was in the “boil”. And the service was meh. But the drinks were good?
We had a reservation for 12 and for such a large group things went well. The only complaints is that we had to wait 15 min for our table, a few drink orders were forgotten and the portions were on the small side. Otherwise, service was good, food was tasty and it was a fun atmosphere.
The place is cute, but that’s about it. Being told that I must stand and wait until all members of my party have arrived is something I can’t stand. The service was oldly slow; three tables around my table came and went. The wine list is just sad. I had the avocado toast. The egg was over cooked. There was no seasoning in the avocado. The bread was so thick, that is all you tasted. Don’t bother.
It took over 90 minutes to get our food. When the food arrived, it was brought to the table at different times, one of the entries was wrong and needed to be sent back. My order was just two poached eggs over a salad. Not sure why it took over 90 minutes to arrive (we sat down at 1pm and the food arrived at 2:40), but when it did, it was ice cold. The house paid for our bill in acknowledgement of the long wait, but my day was already ruined and it was a stressful experience. Oddly enough, people who were seated a full hour after us received their food before us, but their order was also incorrect. The food is not good and they do not know how to cope with a typical Saturday brunch crowd (and the restaurant was not full when we arrived). I really wanted to like this place because it has a lot of character, but will not be coming back. They also gave me a stern warning when I made the reservation that they would only honor reservations for 15 minutes after the reserved time and would not seat the entire party until everyone arrived. I am always on time, but do not appreciate when restaurants handle these things in such a flat footed way.
the waiter was charming but not very on top of things. each persons meal came out at different times so half of them were cold by the time the whole party started eating. our second round of drinks were ordered after our appetizers and didn't show up until after we had all gotten out meals. my avocado toast was soggy and overall unappetizing.
The place is really cute - but i would never recommend this to someone for brunch.
Was so looking forward to another visit to Tipsy Parson. Very disappointed. Waitress seemed to be disengaged and forgot the garnish to our drinks. Tiny tin of garnish for our biscuits and felt very forgotten even though we sat in front window seats. Kind of hard to miss patrons sitting beside the host stand. Can't say I would come back for another try as there are too many spots in NYC for lunch.
Noise level is unbearable (Sunday brunch). Everyone is shouting to be heard by their table mates. Avoid Sunday brunch-- I understand noise level is not bad at other times.
Food was OK, but please stop serving room temperature water in tiny glasses! This is not cool, it is really unpleasant. Please give us tall glasses of water with REAL ICE CUBES. It would also be good to have salt and pepper on tables, without having to ask for them.
