Located on a landmark block in west Chelsea, Tipsy Parson is a 70-seat American brasserie, serving lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.



Tipsy Parson serves refined comfort food, focusing on Regional American favorites, with a nod to Southern classics.

The menu revolves around reinterpretations of classic American home-cooking.



The full-bar features classic American cocktails, a curated selection of small-batch bourbons, and coffee service from Kitten Coffee in Bushwick, Brooklyn.



The main dining room looks out over a small, lush garden and is available for private events. The front room has casual seating for 8, seated dining for 22 and accommodates 14 at the bar.

We accept online reservations for parties up to 8 guests.

Chose this place after reading reviews online... the place is very nice, service was good but the food was just ok...the food sounds great on the menu but we had burnt food, undercooked chicken and cold stuff as well. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this place to friends.

Our party was running very late for our Sunday morning reservation and the hostess was incredibly accommodating. The food was brought to the table quickly and everyone enjoyed their meal.

One friend had the Mac and Cheese (it's her usual order). I shared the mushroom toast and the avocado toast with another friend. Our food came out quickly, our water was refilled multiple times. It was a delicious brunch.

Our friend Art recommended this local restaurant and we were very happy he did. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. Wonderful cocktail list. Nice selection of comforting dishes. We shared all plates: a lovely salad with crunch and feta cheese, mac and cheese, hush puppies, deviled eggs, fried chicken, chicken liver mousse, delicata squash and feta, shrimp and grits, biscuits. I would go back again. Seems a great place to go after gallery hopping.

Birthday brunch for just the two of us. While the wait staff and our server, especially, who helped me decide on The Farmstand breakfast, were attentive, the overall experience was a let down due to price. I know life is expensive in NYC, and by now, I expect an experience to be worth most of the pennies. Tipsy Parson does not live up to our $75 brunch price tag. Husband did not enjoy his biscuits and gravy because the dish was very salty. My Farmstand breakfast was satisfying and tasty and it made me very happy. My biscuit and habanero jelly were also delicious. The brewed coffee was even good, which was a nice surprise. Looking back...the noisy brunch crowd, tight seating area, ugly decor and the other half of my party disappointed by his meal, TIPSY PARSON, did not earn what it charged us for Sunday brunch. We dined here due to a suggestion from The Atlantic Theatre company, where we were headed after brunch. We're locals. First time at TIPSY, and no, we won't return.

Used to come here all the time for brunch, and it was lovely. My experience tonight for dinner was below expectations: waiter forgot part of our order, the sea bass was dry and under seasoned, and the restaurant was extremely cold as freezing air poured in through the front door. Not an enjoyable experience unfortunately! Bright spot was the cocktails, but at $15 each there are plenty of other options in the area that would have better ambiance. Disappointed; I used to love this spot!

We had the Chive Biscuits with Honey Butter and sweet/tangy Tomato Marmalade and Cousin Sandy had the habanero "hot" spread; oh boy those biscuits were good! I liked the Shrimp 'n Grits very much and the fried pickles "on the side". Food is very good and authentic low Country style. You're around the corner from the Atlantic Theater if you have plans there.

I actually have been going to Tipsy Parson's for a while now and it seems like the food quality has gone down quite a bit. When I first started to go, the food was fantastic. The fried pickles were a fan favorite, the fried chicken and waffles were to die for and their biscuits were out of this world. This time around, the fried pickles were underwhelming, the biscuits were dry and the gravy tasted like it was instant/ pre-made. That being said, the staff's attentiveness, professionalism and speed has gotten increasingly better. Our waiter really made our experience fantastic and the cocktails were very good. The front room is pretty dark, and the back room is better-lit (still not great) but quite loud and drafty. Overall, I think there are better places in the area for similar cost.

The hostess was welcoming to this very homey restaurant. Decorated similar to a parsonage might be, it is inviting. Our server was great. He was extremely accommodating. We were in the back room and although the play list was great , we wanted a little quieter when dining. No problem.

We started with hush puppies - excellent choice and followed it with fried chicken. The portions are beyond generous. The chicken was moist and good. We saw some salads coming out and they also looked very generous.

The piece de resistance is dessert. We shared the sorghum cake. My partner is from the south so sorghum is a kind of molasses sugar. The cake was delicious, like nothing that I’ve ever tasted. Sweet but not too, sort of molasses but not really just incredibly good.

Cozy townhouse of a restaurant, the space just embraces you. Food was delicious, enough vegetarian options on the brunch menu for those that partake and plenty of options for meat lovers alike. I had the shrimp and grits for brunch, and while grits is never a meal that appeals to me personally, this was delicious and I'd order it again. The pulled pork was also a highlight. We had one guest who was in a wheelchair, and the restaurant was very accommodating, which we all appreciated!

This is one of our go-tos for brunch with friends. This time we were disappointed that they removed the huevos rancheros from the menu, but we got the pulled pork sandwich instead and were blown away! I love the vibe in there, very country-cute. Cocktails are awesome as well. My only criticisms are that the prices are a bit high for the portion sizes you get, and the noise level can get high especially if there is a large party in the back room. We will be back again and again no doubt!

Had a delightful family brunch on a rainy afternoon. Two of us arrived early and were seated in the (small) waiting area and served complimentary coffee while we waited for the others to arrive. In spite of it being a busy Saturday afternoon the waitstaff was attentive and professional throughout. The food was filling, tasty, and flavorful. Love the Biscuit Bomb and the grits! We were all quite happy.

Tipsy Parsons is one of those rare restaurants where you can keep coming back week after week, year after year to find that whomever greets you at the door, pours you a drink at the bar or serves your dinner, you are happy that you’ve Again returned for dinner. After twenty five years of living in nyc and spending so many nights in restaurants for business or pleasure, I have to say, I love Tipsy Parsons most.
I enjoy how the warm, people here actually care about what they do for a living. It’s rare.

I love the atmosphere at Tipsy Parson. The food is always wonderful and the service excellent. My only complaint from my last visit is that the noise level was beyond unbearable. We sat in the back room. It was full. We could hardly hear ourselves. We even had to repeat our meal orders because it was too loud for our server to hear. Wonderfully, as the evening waned and the back room emptied, the noise level became much more bearable.

I wasn't aware beforehand that the specialty is nouveau Southern cuisine, which was an intriguing discovery. The pulled pork left something to be desired, but the wine list turned me on to an Italian white (ugni blanco) that was new to me and delicious.

The only good thing was the biscuit but make sure to get two of the overpriced biscuits because you’re only paying for one and they don’t mention it until it comes to your table
