It's been a couple of years since at here and it's not what it used to be. There are other brunch places in Chelsea that I would recommend over Tipsy. I don't recommend coming here unless you really want the biscuit and gravy. Food is average.
Decent spot with southern influenced comfort food. They recently changed the menu, so be aware that the menus on their website [or Seamless or OpenTable, etc.] might not match the actual menu. We came for Chicken & Waffles, and alas they didn't have them.
The Biscuit Bomb dishes were great, definitely their pièce de résistance. The coffee was a little overpriced, at $5 a cup [with refills, granted...] So if you gulp down the coffee, you might have to flag your waiter/waitress often. Other than that, great place!
Recommended by a friend. Good Southern comfort food. Shrimp and grits were very good, and the biscuits were wonderful. Short ribs were very good, but could have used a touch more seasoning. Limited wines by the glass, but good quality. I’d go there again.
Warning to those with food allergies. Tipsy Parson has great ambiance and delicious food, but we were really disappointed when we went for dinner and the waiter and kitchen staff failed to heed our warning that we had a nut allergy at the table and served us a salad with walnuts mixed in throughout, despite the fact that we asked specifically for those nuts to be left out of the salad. Not seeing the nuts, my friend took one bite of his food and began having an allergic reaction. We notified the waiter, and he checked the ingredients of the meal and told us there were no nuts in the food and said, "I'm sorry you're not feeling well." Knowing that my friend was having an actual allergic reaction and not just that he was feeling unwell, we looked more closely at our salad and saw the nuts. We told the waiter and he took the salad off our bill, which was kind, but given the potential harm to my friend had he actually eaten any of the walnuts, I wish the waitstaff and kitchen had double checked the food before it was served to our table. Will not be returning.
What limited brunch menu they have is good, but need more year-round standards like Belgian waffles. Coffee and service were excellent. But it's a bit expensive for a shabby chic brunch place on 9th Avenue.
Very nice place with excellent food. Some typical southern influenced food with a twist, prepared with skill.
Great service. Good food. Nice holiday lunch spot on a cold day.
While we have been here several times this was our first visit after a slight rearrangement of the entrance area - which works. The foos was great - the service attentive and given our theater tickets thoughtful - great wines by the glass
The only downer is when the back room has a large group forget about social conversation - indeed our next visit we will opt for the tables by the bar which we usually avoid because of the noise
Our server was hilarious and very attentive and we enjoyed meeting the owner. The entire group enjoyed the evening.
The staff and management at Tipsy is stellar. One year ago my wife and I and 15 of our friends and family celebrated our wedding. One year later the people at Tipsy were falling over themselves to make our anniversary perfect. Any night of the week is superb st Tipsy. And they will go the extra mile if you let them there is any kind of special occasion. Their manager that night said to me “we take this stuff seriously” as she was giggling and handing us a free dessert. We will be spending every anniversary at Tipsy Parson. No doubt!
