Requested a table by phoning restaurant a week in advance , arrived 10 minutes early to find the hostesses had no knowledge of my request . WE were seated in duce line with really no privacy . We texted each other our thoughts at dinner . We selected the top chef's tasting with the top wines pared .
The food came out fast , the wines were not similarly timed . We had 2 and 3 courses in front of us , felt like we were rushed , food was warm/ cold noise level was high , My bill : $336 with tip.
My third time here . Will not go back for $300 /2people , to be rushed through a loud chaotic dinner .
Must haves: chestnut soup, lamb chops, and arugula salad
Also good: meat and cheese plate, paella
Could do without: meatballs. Sauce with it was good but meat itself was dry. For some reason the brussel sprouts—I usually love brussel sprouts but for some reason didn’t like theirs. Maybe not roasted or charred enough to my liking?
Tinto exceeded my expectations. Our waiter Anthony was extremely knowledgeable and we loved each recommendation that he made. The food was absolutely fantastic. We ended up ordering a varied cheese and charcuterie board along with a couple of small plates that were perfect for sharing. I would recommend this fantastic restaurant to anyone.
All I can say about this place is love, love, love. Love the food, love the service, love the place. This is our third time there and they did not disappoint. There were four of us and lots of sharing. Our favorites were the lamb chops, the albondigas (meatballs) with the egg, and the scallops. I would probably skip the crab dish next time. I liked the red sangria a lot, but I liked the white better. All three times we've had excellent, super helpful servers. I really can't say enough about this place.
We ended up returning 2 dishes, one was uneatable salty and another had anchovy which was not stated on the menu. The atmosphere is great, service was efficient, though not too friendly, and other dishes were good, but I had better tapas (especially for the price) at other restaurants.
We eaten here several times. The atmosphere feels cozy and earthy with warm woods on the walls and tables of weathered wood and beaten iron. Its loud because they are always packed. Food is tapas so a steady yet not rushed stream of delicious foods to enjoy shared. Our wait staff are always well versed on the wine selection and can make a good suggestion. The cost adds up fast choosing multiple tapas if you don’t pay attention...which we never do because it’s all so good!
A noisy ambiance made noisier by boorish patrons. I was there with a party totaling four persons on Friday night, a busy time admittedly; and the restaurant was full both when we arrived at 7:15pm and when we left 2 hours later.
There wasn't much communication with our waiter (a knowledge of sign language would have been handy).
We were seated in the basement--an area with six tables-with-benches billed as being a quieter area. The benches were too low for the table height. Two throw pillows were provided, and they helped, but the facing benches were jammed up against the table, so you found yourself playing footsie with the person opposite you, a problem made more annoying by the table's heavy supports and cruciform feet.
The dozen tapas we ordered arrived several bunches, delivered by two persons neither of whom was our waiter. The servers announced the identity of the dishes as they plunked them down, a gesture that would have been more useful if we had been able to hear them.
I am probably being more of a grinch about this restaurant than is entirely fair. It seems to be primarily a place aimed at 20- and 30-somethings -- and I am in my 70's. Further, I am sufficiently set my ways that a bunch of complicated little dishes seems to inhibit conversation. Still, having had a really excellent meal at Butcher & Singer on Thursday night and a very good one at Scarpetta on Saturday night, Tinto was a real disappointnent. [The per-person price at all three places, incidentally, was about the same.]
Nice atmosphere. The food was very good. It is fairly pricey. It to has a small plate menu, which we enjoy. We could have used more help from the waitstaff. She told us we should choose 3 or 4 items per person and walked away, even though we said it was. Our first visit. We ordered much more food than we needed.
Picked this restaurant due to Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. The inside was gorgeous, if I lived near Philly, I'd totally come back here on a date. My friend and I got 5 tapas, a dessert and a pitcher of sangria and we were not disappointed by anything. In fact, I'm sure we'd be hard pressed to find a bad dish here. The server was great, very pleasant and attentive and gave us great tips for a concert we were headed to after dinner. I'd 100% recommend this restaurant, and very reasonably priced too!
