Tinto Ratings and Reviews
My fiance and I went for Restaurant Week. We had been to a different restaurant the previous night. Tintos menu for the occasion was more extensive and contained more upscale items. we love tapas and this has the best I've had in Philly so far. The pulpo was fantastic. Well be going there for the pulpo again!! There was also a wine pairing there was also a wine pairing there was also a wine pairing for $15 which was great value for a glass of red and a glass of white, but unfortunately they weren't the best tasting wines. Still a better value than 2 wines at any other restaurant. Even without the 35 tasting menu, we'll be back soon!!!
I went to Tinto with my fiancee on restaurant week. We were able to enjoy ten distinct dishes (4 first course dishes, 4 second course dishes, and 2 desserts). For our first course, we tried 3 different cheeses and prosciutto wrapped figs as our starters. The La Peral was very pungent and delicious, the Bucheron was incredibly creamy and smooth, and the Manchego was nice and sharp. The figs were to die for. For our second, we tried the Albondigas, the Diver Scallops, the Pulpo, and the Patatas Riojanas. The Albondigas were spectacular, the Scallops were very good (and their accompaniments were wonderful), and the Pulpo was cooked perfectly in a delicious sauce. Next time I go, I won't get the Patatas as they were nothing special. For dessert we got the Pan Con Chocolate and the Pastel Vasco. Both were very good - the chocolate was very rich and the tart/ice cream combination was refreshing. We also opted to do the wine pairing and both were very good (I was partial to the red-blend but that's because I prefer reds over whites). $100 for a meal of this caliber was quite the bargain and I look forward to revisiting Tinto on a non-restaurant week night to try out the full menu.
Lovely restaurant and vibe, dishes seem small but you leave surprisingly full and most definitely satisified! It really helps you take your time and savor each dish. Highly recommended for a date or special occasion, and excellent value for Restaurant Week!
Garces does a wonderful job of creating and presenting food. Everything you taste is amazing. Tinto's is great since it is small plates so you are able to taste so many wonderful things at one sitting. It was Restaurant Week but we weren't hurried and the wait staff was very attentive. It was also my daughters birthday so they put a candle on her dessert, nice touch! I enjoy all of the Garces Restaurants!
As a party of 5, we were seated in a booth which was meant for 4 in the basement. Booth cushion seats were uncomfortable and we were seated next to the wine room where waiters had to ask multiple times for the person on the end to move a little so they could get into the wine room. Food was excellent, however the downstairs seating area was uncomfortable.
I would only recommend sitting upstairs.
Had a great time for our fist visit to Tinto! It feels like authentic Spanish tapas with a lovely vibe. We liked the ambiance and our service was great. At the bar, before we sat down at our table, the bartender was social, fun and very attentive. He let us try a variety of Spanish wines (since we did not know them) before choosing. We ordered a variety of small plates share. We loved the cheese and the olives. We also had the mushrooms and the brussels, which were great. I would definitely come back again and would recommend it to groups for sharing and trying a lot of dishes.
This place continues to exceed my expectations. Celebrating our anniversary again here was perfect. From the hostesses (didn’t grab names) to our server Mike, and the manager Hani, everything was spectacular. And the food.. everything was cooked perfectly and delicious from the duck wrapped in ham, lamb chops, mushroom truffle soup, arugula salad, and the seared scallops. Not to mention the bottle of wine they picked complimented the entire meal. Thanks again for making the evening amazing.
The food was quite good (especially the small plates) and the staff was attentive and kind. The brisket tapas were the best. The wine selection was great too. The place was rather quite when we were there (which was great) but apparently this was because a lot of people had cancelled their reservations due to the snow storm the day before. Would totally recommend this place for someone wanting to try food from Spain.
Tinto never disappoints! We decided to come to ring in 2018 as a simple and sweet date. The tasting menus offered were fantastic as usual, and the wine pairing was impeccable. The cost is high, but not unreasonable for the quality of food and atmosphere. I highly recommend enjoying this Garces gem.
I really wanted to like Tinto as my experiences at Amada and Jaleo were fantastic. We ordered 6 plates and 3 were great, 3 were not. The cheese mixto was perfect and the prosciutto wrapped figs were delicious. However the beet salad was so sweet we couldn't finish it. And the brussel sprouts were so salty we also left most on the plate. They were missing a zing of acid something anything to balance out that salt. The wine selection is impressive and delicious. So overall it was good but with so many other great restaurants in Philadelphia...you could do better at Amada
Tinto never ever disappoints. The inventive food is so satisfying. The staff is fantastic and friendly. Whenever someone from out of town asks for a restaurant rec we say “Tinto” hands down. Yes, it’s been around for a while, but it’s t is a well oiled machine with delicious plates that you just cannot make at home. We have had the tasting menu several times (awesome and great for a group) but for this dinner we ordered off the menu. Arugula and beet salad first. Arugula salad is definitely for 2, especially if you have a lot more food coming. We ordered the Kobe beef, the wagyu beef, lamb, scallops, potatoes and mushrooms. Everything was wonderful. Scallops are just out of this world. The mushrooms are sublime. Potatoes are fantastic too, I just wish that the veg course had come out with the scallops instead of lagging way behind. That is my only complaint about Tinto, the plates come when they are ready in a loose order. You may be watching your dining partner eat one of their choices for a while before yours arrives. Nothing on the dessert menu tempted us and I tend to opt for gelato across the street from Capagiro when we eat at Tinto (sorry, Tinto, but you cannot beat capagiro gelato). That said, Tinto is an absolute favorite of ours!
We have been to Tinto three of four times now. We always order the chef's tasting menu because it is outstanding - imaginative small plates - tapas. Last time we ordered with the wine pairing with our meal but it is almost too too much. This time we just shared a couple of bottles among the group. We will definitely return to Tinto.
The food was VERY good and inventive, and all of the items were creative, with excellent sauces. My companion and I both thought that the format of the menu was confusing and difficult to focus on (should be easy to change), and the meal was somewhat pricey - but I'd recommend the restaurant for a really-good, unique meal.
The service was exceptional. We were pressed for time and the staff provided great service within a short window. The food was very good but most impressive was the service. We were seated in the lower level- cushions in the booth were a bit too low to the floor level, slightly uncomfortable.
