We couldnt decide on what to get so ordered the fixed price amazing chef tasting and wine pairing. Our server Anthony was excellent and gave us the history behind all the wines and dishes. Everything was amazing and a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday
Tried the tasting menu, was delicious! Service was excellent.
It's been at least 5 years since my last visit to Tinto and I don't think I'll return. The menu has changed (in a bad way), the food was forgettable and disappointing, and the service was lackluster. If I want tapas again, I'll definitely go to Amada or Charlie was a Sinner instead.
We were a large group so we were sat upstairs in a private room, so I cannot comment on the ambiance and other pieces of the restaurant. Our waiter was attentive and the food was very good. However, we ordered pitchers of sangria which I can say were very watered down and FULL of ice so they were a bit of a rip off.
I had previously been to Tinto’s private dining room and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I was very pleased with the ambience in the main dining area. We were able to sit at a booth, which I like. Food was excellent, wine selection superb. A special mention is due for the attentive, pleasant service personnel. In summary, a very enjoyable dining experience.
Hadn't been to Tinto in a year or two, and was excited to go back again.
Apparently, they are doing some renovation work so they had a shortened menu and we couldn't order some of our favorites. Not sure how long they will be renovating, but maybe call ahead before making reservation if you want to be sure the full menu is being offered.
We had the pleasure of sitting next to the parents of the executive chef from the restaurant, and they were wonderful people who made the experience even better than we ever expected. The pulpo and the duck confit were amazing and the rose wine from the Basque region was unexpectedly delicious! Mike was an attentive and pleasant waiter. We will come back when we return to Philadelphia!
Great service, beautiful ambiance. Delicious food, and great selection!
It was a great evening! Good portion in addition to being wonderfully prepared and flavorful. Nice service, especially appreciated not being rushed on restaurant week, which is often the case. Thank you!
We dined on the second to last Restaurant Week evening. This three course meal was in a word FABULOUS. For $35, each person chose two appetizers, two entrees and one dessert. We opted for the $15 wine pairing (two glasses of wine)-another bargain.
We had dined at Tinto previously; this dinner was the best one to date. Kudos to the chefs, bar tenders and wait staff!
Excellent representation of Spanish food. Delicious tapas, wonderful wine pairing
We love Spanish Pintxos, but Tinto did not deliver. No flavor in the dishes. Very disappointing. The atmosphere is great.
My first visit to Tinto was fabulous. I dined during restaurant week, so we enjoyed a unique tasting menu and wine pairing. The meal was well-crafted, creative, and filling. All items were beautifully presented. They curated the experience in an impressive fashion, and the meticulous service was balanced with the quality of the dishes. As a member of the hospitality industry with experience in fine dining and small plates, I know how difficult it can be on a busy night to time the arrival of small plates efficiently- not crowding the table, but not letting us wait for the next dish. Tinto’s staff absolutely nailed it. Everything was perfect and I successfully impressed my date. You’ve earned your five stars!
DON'T LET THEM PUT YOU IN THE BASEMENT UNLESS YOU CAN'T HEAR
Yet another fabulous experience at Tinto. Went with my inhales-his-food brother for CC Restaurant Week, and even he slowed down a bit to enjoy the meal! Portion sizes are typically perfect, with some dishes just a little too big (but who's complaining about that!?) so it ends up that you get to try a bunch of delicious and wildly different dishes, all with some fabulous flair. Service was spectacular as always, and this time even above and beyond. I got excited by the name of a dish without reading its full description, and when it came and I did not like it the server not only offered to replace it with something else, but suggested a totally different dish that ended up being one of our absolute favorites of the evening. He also recommended another dish as we were originally ordering that was out of this world. Advice to my future self: just go with server recommendations from the outset and you won't go wrong! Will definitely be back again.
Tinto is some place I've heard of before but just never went, but they were participating in Restaurant Week so I figured I'd give it a try. I arrived early for my reservation, but they took us right away. Our servers were very attentive and kept adding and removing plates, so our small table never got crowded. The food was great, there was a nice variety of meats and seafood to choose from. Each tapas plate really packed in a ton of flavor, and their gazpacho (something I've never liked) converted me.
Even if it wasn't Restaurant Week I'd go again.
Excellent food and service!! Went for dinner during restaurant week and was pleasantly surprised!! All dishes were amazing! Server was friendly and provided excellent service! I will definitely be back soon!
We will be back as often as we can. Food, atmosphere, and service...all incredible. Highly recommend.
It’s has been my favorite restaurant of all times. Restaurant week was superb for my guest who likes to budget and to get out from being a stay home mom. Mike our server was wonderful. Roger management was friendly greeting every customer. Ella was superb with kind welcoming entrance to holding the door on our way out. Overall amazing staff and excellent service all around. A*++ rating.
Love the flavor. Very special tastes -- would come back and try everything on the menu
I've eaten at Tinto for many business dinners, but this time was with my partner for Restaurant Week. It has to be said that the Garces restaurants do restaurant week menus as good as if not much better than almost all other participants. The portions are well sized for sharing, the wine pairings are full pours and great taste and value and the service is as impeccable as it is when full price items are on the menu. We could not finish our secondi, despite how delicious they were. The tables are set close, but the noise level never gets distracting as in most smaller restaurants. Overall, high consistency to food preparation and attention to service makes this a winner.
Very very slow service!
We went during restaurant week and the service was horrible. It took over 2 hours to get our entrees. All in all we were there for over 3 hours. Our waitress seemed to realize we were upset (and hungry) so she instead decided to avoid us...which obviously made the service even worse.
The food was so good though that it makes it hard to completely discount this place. I would recommend avoiding them during busy times though.
Please don’t ever take the Serrano wrapped Trout off the menu - it is simply awesome. The ambience, service, and overall experience are outstanding. This should be on everyone’s restaurant week list!
The restaurant week menu was fantastic. Every course had a wide selection of options, each as satisfying the next.
Service was extremely slow- over 3 hr meal. Granted it was restaurant week. There was a piece of hair in one of my courses; I didn’t say anything because I was embarrassed. Tinto used to be one of my favorites but was extremely disappointed with this meal.
We enjoyed our experience and will defiantly come back
Tinto is a great staple go to for those nights you want small plates, with a predictable outcome. It is always consistent with its menu and reasonably priced for what you get. Have been coming here for years, never had a bad meal.
Absolutely love this place. Every time the food blows me away!
Start to finish great experience dining at Tinto. We were running late and called in - the host adjusted our reservation right then. Waiter new we were rushed and had us in and out w/o feeling like we were being hurried which is not an easy feet. He also suggested a lovely wine. We will look forward to returning and taking more time to enjoy.
3rd time visiting, was just as good as the last two. Keeps us coming backing. Great vibe and even better food.
I really loved the restaurant, the wine list and the menu are very good. The scallops, the truffle mushrooms and the wine butter they offer with the breads were my favorite items! The only bad thing is that the restaurant closes at 11pm, when we were still having our second bottle.
Had a great meal. Enjoyed each course and the leftovers!
Exactly what I expected from José Garces. Super delicious, great ambiance, knowledgeable staff. I loved every course. A little minus: sangria was watery and overpriced....
Second visit here and again really enjoyed the evening.
My favorite restaurant in the city, food is out of this world good!
We really enjoyed this restaurant. We were on vacation from the SF Bay Area, where excellent restaurants are common. The wine advice was especially good and our wines paired well with the food. Menu adjustments were well done for my gluten allergy. I liked the waiter's straight-forward manner and his knowledge of the Spanish wines available. I will go back when I am in Philly again.
This is my second visit to Tinto. My husband and I both love the sliders and the Brussel sprout salad, which is saying something because he won't touch that vegetable anywhere else. The food is really outstanding, however I do feel like it's slightly overpriced. That said, I will definitely visit again because, while good food isn't that hard to find in Philadelphia, outstanding food IS.
76th birthday celebration dinner was a huge success! The three guests who struggle to hear conversations at most restaurants we able to participate due to the pleasant noise level. It wasn’t a busy night (Labor Day) so it may not always be so quiet. Our server was great and the food came quickly. Every dish was enjoyed! Our favorite were the Roasted Pork Chop, the Mushrooms, and the Pork-belly toasts.
I have been to Tinto many times and each time the food gets better and more intriguing. Dishes that we normal folks would never think go together are fantastic and so tasty that you mourn when the dish is done. The menu is created so that you can select smaller dishes and finish with larger ones and the great staff are always there to recommend the right number of plates. The service is highly professional and very focused on customers. I love this place!
