The chef's tasting is consistently one of the best culinary experiences in the city
We have been traveling from NJ to Philly to this restaurant specifically for seven plus years without a bad bite no less a bad meal/experience.
Great food experience; each plate was distinct, wonderful and often surprising. Expensive, but memorable.
Tinto is one of my most favorite places in the city. My favorite menu items include the white sangria, the albondigas with the perfectly poached egg and the shrimp appetizer. There is really only one word needed to describe Tinto - awesome.
Food is much more sophisticated than traditional tapas. Many of the dishes have rich sauces, and the sandwiches are far from your ordinary assembly of meat and bread. Wine list has diverse choices of good Spanish wines and service is excellent
Great food as always, attentive service
Fantastic food, excellent recommendations from the bartender!
Très belle soirée, nourriture inventive, goûteuse, raffinée
Accords mets- vins parfaits
Amazing food and service, we went once before and the restaurant was too crowded so we went elsewhere, but when we went on a Sunday we had the place almost to ourselves and had a really nice time. Portions were a little small for the price but the flavor was really incredible.
The ambiance was perfect, however as a Spanish person, the food was very dissapointing. The jamon serrano was clearly from a package, the empanada was not authentic and the octopus was completely mushy and overcooked. We had such high hopes but it was overpriced and mediocre. Also, extremely oversalted... It’s hard to find good Spanish food in the USA but this place relies far too much on the setting/presentation and not nearly enough to the quality of the food. We would not recommend it to a friend...
Tinto reigns supreme as Jose Garces best restaurant in Philadelphia. Elegantly prepared exciting cuisine in a warm lovely setting with expert professional service makes Tinto one of Philadelphia's finest restaurants and an outstanding value.
Can't wait to go back.
Great service, amazing food. The perfect spot to get together with long time friends.
Excellent service and drinks! We loved the food- we had fava beans, mushrooms, lamb brochettes, chorizo beef sliders, monkfish, and octopus, then shared two desserts. I found the octopus to be too salty, so my husband happily finished my portion. :) My personal favorites were the fava beans and sliders. My husband loved everything!
Chef's selection was perfect. Allowed my wife and I to try a variety of different dishes along with the wine pairings. Our waiter was spot on with his drink selections and service. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
We were seated in the basement which was a bit shocking because I had made a reservation in advance. Being in the basement took away from the buzz of the restaurant, and also the service was lacking. We did the chefs tasting menu which was great and only disliked one plate which was the apple slaw. I would be hesitant to go back as I wouldn’t want to sit in the basement again and I would caution anyone I would recommend Tinto to, to ask to be seated in the main restaurant.
This is an outstanding restaurant that serves excellent food and offers an excellent environment to interact and talk. Food selection is excellent. Even when wine selection is narrow, quality is very high. Tinto is a gem in Philly.
There is no other place in the city that serves Basque food let alone at this level. My fiancée and I frequent Barcelona but these are apples and oranges. Prepare yourself for a next level experience. 3-4 small plates and 1-2 larger plates along with a Tempranillo does the trick.
Our third visit - as always food is delicious (chef’s tasting menu) and the Spanish red wine selection is outstanding.
If we lived in the city we would be back more often!
Food was uneven. Some overcooked, others just right. Duck confit was good. Lamb brochet over cooked and dry.
Selection of plaets was sparse for a place dedicated to tapas. Notably thin on seafood.
Sat at the high top tables. It was cool being able to see into the kitchen. Great food. Five plates was plenty for 2 people.
Had dinner Saturday night the new menu items are spectacular. Megan and Anthony made the experience special great food and service! Don’t miss Tinto or Village Whiskey next door.
I have been to Tinto for Restaurant Week, but this was my first time dining here for the Chef’s Tasting. While the experience was costly, my parents thoroughly enjoyed the experience of getting to try new foods and not knowing what would be served next. We were seated immediately, and our waiter was very knowledgeable of everything on the menu. I will likely return to Tinto in the future!
Wonderful dinner and service. Definitely worth visiting again.
Waiter made accommodations for all dietary needs of our large group/and was knowledgeable, fast
Excellent Place. Food is amazing!
Fantastic food. Great ambience. Staff very attentive. Complimentary appetizers were provided.
Tinto features small plates for sharing including pintxos, tapas, and smaller entrée-like seafood and meat dishes. The cuisine is very imaginative Spanish. Tinto means red wine. The Spanish wines on their list are extensive, and the staff are well-informed about the wines. The service is relaxed, but very attentive. We had fried calamari pintxos, meatballs with tomato sauce and a poached egg, fried shrimp with a savory chocolate sauce (mole espagnole), sautéed mushrooms with potatoes and truffles, and a lovely cheese board. Everything was beautifully prepared. The shrimp was a most interesting and delicious dish.
Great for a group
Tinto has excellent tapas! In addition, the atmosphere is well decorated with wine bottles. We had 2 pinxtos, 2 large plates, 1 dessert, and the olives/almonds. It was more than enough to eat and each dish was delicious. We will definitely return.
A must for foodies - small plates with huge flavor. The attention to detail is hugely impressive , taste combinations are superb. Impressive wine list.
Excellent food and wine; good selection of dishes.
Went with two other couples on a Saturday evening. I agree whole heartedly with a review I just read. Menu is reduced and while the food was okay, it just wasn’t what it used to be. It seems tired and dated inside. Used to really enjoy it, but definitely plans to return.
Very accommodating and the food was excellent.
They recently introduced a new abbreviated menu and I was very disappointed. Nothing was bad, but it just wasn't as impressive as it used to be. They used to have a great tuna tartar on a croissant, new they have a tuna salad on a croissant.
Not much to say. Luckily our waiter took the most offending item off our bill. Staff friendly, food not so much.
A very nice first experience here! Food was amazing, small portions but everything was so good! I can’t wait to come back!
This was my first experience at Tinto and I would definitely return.
late Valentine’s Day dinner
Been here a few times and seems to be going down hill. The quality of the food is not what it was in the past. We were a party of four and were seated in a really tight booth. Ordered a bunch of dishes but nothing stood out (maybe the chorizo burger - but it was more like a slider).
The food was excellent and the server was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine pairings. Was a great date night spot.
