About Tin Roof Bistro

After soaking in the TRB’s Santa Barbara mission architecture, you’ll enter and be greeted by a triple arched Brunswick mahogany bar. Large bowls of colorful citrus for making cocktails sit atop a twenty-foot long bar perfect for grabbing a glass of wine or a bite to eat. As you explore further towards the display kitchen, you enter our lounge, also referred to as the wine library. Knotted wood shelves display our wines, divided up by wine region. Windows surround the North side of the dining room, allowing our guests to gaze out onto the fountain in our courtyard. I describe the décor as thoughtful and collective, creating little vignettes for dining areas. We offer two separate outdoor dining experiences: our courtyard with full service and our front porch great for appetizers, drinks and lounging.

The food was great once we were seated. The wait, however, to be seated was well over 40 minutes even with a secured reservation made well ahead of time! I have never waited that long with a reservation at a reputable restaurant .

We made a 6:15 reservation since it was a special occasion. Upon arrival, shortly before 6:15, the hostess (who had zero people skills or greeting etiquette) informed us that we would have to wait. I inquired why and how long would the wait be (since we had a reservation) her response was because "a lot of people showed up" it was clear she did not know how to handle this situation, so she just ignored us...We were shuffled off to the side while she sat other people who arrived after us.
We made the effort to call ahead and arrive on time. It would have been nice if she had apologized and explained whatever the situation for delay was; or perhaps simply acknowledged us while my two daughters and I were awkwardly standing off to the side. After about 10 minutes, a table was ready and the rude hostess handed us off to someone else to show us to our seats. No apology, no interaction, nothing. She really made us feel like we were not welcome at Tin Roof. This got our dinner off to a very disappointing start. I had been looking forward to showing my daughters the design and decor of your interior and sharing your good food with them. Luckily we had a nice server who managed to turn our mood around by simply treating us like humans that were there to spend hard earned money on a special meal.

I’ve never had a bad meal at the Tin Roof. The food is consistently good. If you’re not happy with what you’ve ordered, they’ll swap it out for something else. They do aim to please. If the weather permits (although they have heaters outside), I recommend you request outside seating on the patio. The noise level inside when the restaurant is full is rather noisy - as in you can’t hear the person next to you. There’s a reason they call this restaurant “Tin Roof”. The ceiling is actually tin, which doesn’t absorb sound. In spite of the noise level, I highly recommend this restaurant. You can’t go wrong!

Food is consistently high quality. I had the Sunday special, the pork chop. Juicy. My friend had scallops-perfectly cooked. Sit on the patio if you want to be able to visit. It is peaceful and quieter than inside.

Combination of service & food quality made the dining experience superb. I was part of a group of 7, there for lunch on Sun, Jan 14, 2018, celebrating 2 birthdays. Our waiter "Sean" was excellent, beyond any I've experienced in a long time. The soup was so good that I ordered 2 pints to take home. Everything about the restaurant was really good. However, had we been sitting on the bar side of the room, the noise level would have been more annoying. Location of restaurant is easy to get to. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

no communication between server. Sat in the patio-no server had to go and ask for one. Food took forever. A little smile on the server’s face goes a long way-maybe server at tinroof should try it. Very disappointed with service.

We typically love Tin Roof, and Simzys, goin a couple times a month, but they were a little off in regards to the menu and the service this day. A waitress, not ours, brought our wine and hastily poured it without a word to us..and gave us the wrong wine. As well. Service was slow. It was packed but it was annoying

We had made plans for an early New Years Day dinner and had reservations for 5:30. When we arrived the restaurant wasn’t crowded but that changed very quickly. It’s evidently a very popular neighborhood restaurant. Food was good. Service was somewhat spotty. I think they may have been short staffed that evening. Lots of families and diners lingering over their meals. Looks to have a nice bar crowd. Parking was a breeze. We’ll be back.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the South Bay. The food is the main reason as they have many unusual items that are all very delicious. Highly recommended.

Tin Roof has been in my favorite place to go whenever I am in the areas. Also, one of selected restaurants to give as gift cards. I enjoy always enjoy the meals...few of favorites are brussel sprouts, lamb bolognese, fig and pig pizza and cobb salad.

High recommended, however, if you want a quiet place this is not the place for meetings.

We went for dinner post show at Redondo Beach PAC and luckily had made reservations, otherwise it would have been a long wait. This place always seems crowded. We sat in the outdoor patio which was chilly but not too bad since we were beneath a heat lamp. The twinkling lights were pretty and festive. The food was delicious, especially the creative eggplant lasagna. Good beer and wine list with lots of options. Our server was very nice. The inside was very loud since it was full so I preferred sitting outside for a quieter atmosphere.

Calamari was not good, do not recommend it was over cooked and had many tiny peices. We had scallops and ravioli and it was on par. Service was not good took an hour to bring our mains out but waiter took responsibility and comped our dessert.

Attentive staff and food good as always. Our $30.00 Halibut was dirt dry and tasteless. The waiter should have comped it instead of just offering something else as by that time it had been a long dinner. Other than that this is one of the more consistent bistros in the South Bay.

This was our 2nd X-Mas at this restaurant.
We made a reservation thru. Open Table.
Both times the restaurant was very busy,
the hostess did not have a table available.
last year we waited for 1 hour until we had
a table. this year we waited 40 minutes.
I don't think we will go back.
Thank you,
Anneliese

Sadly two of our meals were terrible. It actually bothered us so much after we left that I decided to write a letter to the owner/manager explaining what had happened and requesting that out of the four meal/drinks, we credit just for 2 meals.

Never heard back from them... no call, no email, no letter, no credit. We've customers of Tin Roof for years. They do have a fantastic menu and the service is always good. Have spent thousand of dollars there --- private events in wine room, etc. This was a real surprise. Bummed, to say the least.

This is our go-to lunch and dinner in our neighborhood. We love the extensive menu but we often get the same thing: Brussels sprouts and firecracker shrimp to start then the Manhattan Beach Cobb salad and Simmzy's burger as entrees. We love their wine list and variety of Mules (Moscow, etc). Service is ALWAYS GOOD!

Service was slow. Waitress clearly wasn’t use to or didn’t care that she was waiting in tables filled with business people who needed to get back to the office. Took her a while to bring the check after we asked for it, even though she walked by our table 4 Times.

Had a reservation for 12:15. Was sat 30 min. later. In the words of Seinfeld, “we know you can make a reservation but can you keep it”.

No one came to the table in over 15 min. Finally the hostess took our order.

Waited another 20 plus minutes for our food and was told by our waitress that the kitchen was backed up and it would be another 15-20 min. We were there for a business lunch and had to leave without lunch. It took so long we were late for a meeting. We were comped our water and two diet cokes.

Also it should be noted that the parking lot is under construction so parking is a nightmare.

Lesson, don’t eat there during the holidays: they overbooked and are understaffed.

Unhappy

The kitchen was extremely backed up, and took 1.5 hours from sit down to our main course meals being delivered. Also, we had to wait 10 min to be seated, when we had a reservation.

The manager came over and explained the situation and compensated me for our issues, which I appreciate. Just not sure I would return or recommend considering it took 1.5 hours to get an explanation.
