Tilth Ratings and Reviews
A visit to Tilth is always a treat, and this Valentine's Day was no exception. Well thought-out menu that accommodates special dietary needs; you don't feel deprived at all. I need to eat gluten/egg/dairy-free, and I was even able to have cashew vegan "cheese" cake with fig sauce! It was delightful. we always love having their tasting menu. You feel each dish is a special treat, yet you don't feel like you need to be carried out in a wheelbarrow. We were once again very happy we chose Tilth.
I ate at Tilth when it first opened. Although the food was good, it wasn’t remarkable. However the service was awful so we didn’t go back. I continue to see good reviews so, with many restaurants closed on a Monday, I decided to try it again. The service was good. (The restaurant was nearly empty.) But the food was utterly mediocre.
Sat 2/3 AT 5--SEATS full or nearly full.
Less special small treats, like the citrus, than before.
Meal more like other restaurants.
Food and service good.
Impressed that you had notes from the past that I don't want added salt.
Make your chocolate sorbeit for dessert!!!
It was delicious, the service was AWESOME and I loved every minute. The only thing was the table behind us was extremely loud...and I'm talking LOUD. The man was clearly describing a brain surgery (I kid you not) and he was so bloody escalated! The only saving grace was when the server was describing the specials, then this guy shut his trap....ahhhh the ambient noise level was very do-able. Anyway, we'll be back! Thanks for the nice time!
Excellent food, creative and varied menu, with emphasis on organic food. Great service, attentive, and cozy ambiance in a converted house. Extremely accommodating of dietary restrictions. Many items on the menu are, or can be made, gluten free. They even had a gluten free, dairy free "cheesecake" which met the dietary restrictions of, and delighted my daughter whose birthday we were celebrating! Definitely will return.
Wonderful vegan soup of parsnip and celeriac. Was creamy and smooth. Beet salad was perfectly balanced and satisfying. Cassoulet with several different types of beans and no meat was fantastic! So tasty and nicely seasoned. The handmade pasta in the special was perfectly cooked and the ratio of pasta to lamb ragu was just right. Overall a delicious meal that left us feeling sated, not stuffed, and very happy to have visited Tilth again after a too-long absence. Oh, and the wine was lovely as well. Tilth is still a gem of a restaurant!
This was my third or fourth visit to Tilth, and I'm a little less impressed every time I go. It seems to have lost some of the inspiration that made it so memorable on my first visit. Our food was inconsistently cooked, and the "value" of the tasting menu seemed very varied based on what each person got.
I think Maria has lost her bubble on this restaurant. The food is not very special or innovative anymore. The liver pate was quite bland. We did like it served with mustard and pickled vegetables. Two of us had the boullibase, which was quite salty and served in a bowl that was too small for both visual impact and ease of eating. The artic char was fine but unremarkable.
An extraordinarily unpleasant experience. We arrived with a reservation for 2 at 5:45. The restaurant was nearly empty and we wanted a quiet table away from the entrance. There were at least 6 empty tables for 2. We have eaten at Tilth many times over the years and never encountered the type of confrontation with the manager that we had that night. He was condescending and snarky - we can’t imagine how the restaurant staff can tolerate this obnoxious person. He ruined our evening and we will NEVER go back to Tilth. No customer should tolerate his obnoxious behavior. The food may be great, but it’s not worth the aggravation. Bye bye Tilth.
The staff was very conscientious about my girlfriend's food allergies and went out of their way to ensure we had a good dining experience. We had a large party and they were very accommodating to meet everyone's needs. Thank you for an amazing dining experience!!
Tilth is fantastic. Loved it when we took out of town guests in the summer (12!) for a fantastic tasting pre-fixe menu. And the guests loved it. But for Thankgiving they outdid themselves.
Lovely all the way around. In addition, given that opentable accidentally used another open tab i had open which pushed our res to the 24th without my realizing it, and we came in at 5pm for our 23th thanksgiving res, I cannot say enough nice things about Tilth for accommodating that snafu. They made room for us in the nicest possible manner.
Food, service, drinks and wine were terrific. Lovely holiday. Will be back!
We all had the grand tasting menu, and it was truly grand. Great variety of vegetables, with two very different and spectacular salads, plus carrot soup that was the essence of carrot but not overly sweet. The arctic char was perfectly done (excellent crispy skin) and accompanied by the only preparation of quinoa we've ever actually enjoyed. The ribeye was great, and I'm told by the kale-lovers in the family that the braised kale was excellent too.
Thank you for accommodating our preference for only old-world wines. If you could stock a few more kinds of these wines (we had to have a repeat), it would be a plus, but it was a wonderful meal just the way it was. Truly an exceptional experience.
