Tilth Ratings and Reviews
Birthday celebration - first time - loved the flavors. My favorite were the clams and hubby enjoyed the tenderloin. The most tender tenderloin he has ever had. My drink (zichter?) had amazing flavors and the rosemary extract just made it delicious to have! Thank you for an amazing first experience and we will definitely be back!
Tilt is an excellent restaurant and my dinner did not disappoint. The chicken leg was very moist with a very crisp skin. The carrot soup was smooth and the very flavorful garnishes added crunch plus a bright accent. Several women near me were very impressed with their cocktails. There are a number of wines by the glass and the rose I had was very good.
Very interesting menu, but a bit confusing. Once we figured out how we thought it worked (order 4 small plates each to share) based on our server's recommendation, we had many excellent dishes. The thing is, two, max three small plates each is plenty. We ended up with far more food than we needed and a bill that was about $45 more than it needed to be.
The service was amazing and the server's recommendations were spot on. The chefs were accommodating and the portions were perfectly sized. The food was delicious and I loved their pickled treats, especially the pickled grapes. I would recommend Tilth for romantic nights out, special occasions, or anytime you are craving high quality, fresh and creative meals. I prefer to eat gluten and dairy(cow) free and I had no problem finding several dishes that fit my preferences.
The menu descriptions looked promising but the final results were not as fulfilling. My friend had the vegetable hash and I don't think she cared for it. It looked a bit bland and seemd to be mostly potatoes. Mine, the baked egg, was very spicy which was not indicated by the menu description. We shared a homemade waffle which was the better dish out of the three. It was served without syrup. I don't know if that was intentional. If it wasn't, it might have been more delicious with syrup. I'm willing to give this place one more try; maybe for dinner. If that turns out to not be too special then I think I will need to cross this one off my list. Too bad; the decor and waitstaff are charming.
We are always delighted with a meal at Tilth. My husband is especially fussy about his food, and Tilth never disappoints. It's a wonderful opportunity to try some flavors we wouldn't necessarily have at home, and I always appreciate anyone who cooks for me! My only negative comment is that I think my Panna Cotta is better than what we had for dessert.
We were in Seattle for part of our honeymoon and made a reservation prior to arriving in town. We both tried the tasting menu and enjoyed it, though we were very full by the end. They were very kind to provide us with an appetizer for our celebration, and also two honey wafers and packaged homemade granola at the end of our meal. Would definitely come back the next time we're in the area to try more of the menu!
My wife and I went for our 2nd anniversary. We went for the Grand tasting menus. The most remarkable thing I noticed was how balanced every bite or plate was. No drinks were required. Your mouth was left feeling clean and eager for another bite. We ended up not opting for the wine pairings that added another $65 to your $100 meal. We inquired after 2 house cocktails about the wine pairing and it was 2-3oz pours for each course which seemed like a bargain after a $13 cocktail and then adding a $16 glass pour half way through the tasting. The house cocktails were amazing. I went with a Vodka and rosemary simple syrup concoction and my wife went with this warm tequila and allspice with orange bitters. Both equally satisfying. We were equally happy with our 2 different glass pours that finished our tasting off beautifully. Out the door with a tip for around $320. Be prepared, don't cheap out and let them take you on a seasonal journey.
We had the grand tasting menu with old-world wine pairing, and it was delightful. The crab and sweet corn soup (with pickled blueberries! and a wonderful Alsatian pinot blanc), the tomato salad, and the risotto were particularly memorable.
We would go to Tilth more often, but in our opinion they stick with locally-sourced vegetables a bit too strictly, and so the winter and early spring menus are dominated by the few vegetables that we don't like (chard, kale, beets).
I only rated the ambience as good because the restaurant is housed in an old house, and like many old houses it has a bit of a smell, particularly when the restaurant first opens.
Tilth is always wonderful, never disappoints, and best restaurant in Seattle. We had our anniversary dinner there (again) and had the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairings. It was a spluge but worth every penny and never a down moment for our 2.5 hour experience. Don't go unless you really appreciate great food and wine. Creativity, attention to craft and delivery by the best wait staff in the city keep this testaurant at the top of the list for us.
Tilth is a wonderful restaurant. The food is creatively prepared with seasonal ingredients and absolutely delicious! Dishes are available in two sizes for a single serving or for sharing, and dietary restrictions are easily accommodated. Tasting menus are also available. The restaurant is located in a charming craftsman style home and the service is impeccable!
This was one of the best meals I've had in Seattle. The food was delicious and flawlessly prepared. The portions were perfect. All of the food is somehow rich and airy at the same time. We sat out on the patio, which is romantic and beautiful. The servers were great- attentive and friendly.
My only complaint was that I mentioned in the reservation that we went to the restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and it went unacknowledged. Then they provided comment cards at the end of the meal and I provided this feedback and provided a way to contact me, and there was no response. It's a small thing in terms of our overall experience, because we enjoyed the restaurant. I just don't understand what the point is of asking whether there is a special occasion and then ignoring it, and then asking for feedback and ignoring that, too. That left a bad impression on an otherwise wonderful experience.
We've been to Tilth on several occasions and their menu always has something creative and unexpected that we end up talking about the next day. Unfortunately on this occasion (and a few others) we've also ended up talking about their service the next day. This time they forget items we'd ordered, brought courses out of order, had unusual long wait time between courses, and served the entrees cold. The waiter also didn't seem to really know the menu well enough to accommodate any special requests (which we had called ahead to verify and got conflicting information). To their credit, they did try to make this right by comping an entree and bringing us free desserts. But this dinner was for a special occasion and at the end of the night we left feeling disappointed and let down with the evening.
Bottom line, if you like creative food Tilth has it, but you're taking a gamble on if they're going to get the experience right.
Amazing meal--totally amazing cocktails. We ordered the Grand Tasting menu and the Grand Vegetarian tasting menu, with wine parings. Truly outstanding.
A much better dining experience at every level than last month's disappointing trip to Canlis.
Loved every course and the wine parings were thoughtfully done and excellent.
An outstanding value
To many pre-fix menus. Not enough ala cartel choices. Salads were very over priced got contents. The heirloom salad was a few pieces of tomato and greens with some buffers cheese
For $ 16. The cumcumber salad was one slice of cucumber with arugula for the same. We shared two large entrees, four duck sliders with miniature chips done in rendered duck fat-excellent! The octopus dish was adequate. Again a very modest serving. The chocolate mousse for dessert was very good. The outdoor area could use a couple of space heaters. It
Is also a bit dreary. Needs table clothes, plants to create a nicer atmosphere.
came in for a date and we couldn't have left happier or more satisfied! great wine and cocktails almost had everything on the menu it was amazing finished it off with the cheese plate (fresh chevre) with that candied pecan and cherry mustarda?? perfect combo loved it amazing everything else!
