This was our second time at Tico, with several years in between, and it continued to impress and satisfy! Waitstaff were all fantastic, joined right in and went with the flow of our rather boisterous family group of 6.
Food is ahmazing! And authentic: tortillas are all corn -- no gringo flour, here! -- and the same realistic size we found all tacos to be on a recent vacation in Mexico. And creative: beet mochi for a tapas plate!?
Beverage list is impressive, and you must try the Blood Orange Margarita, or, for a more savory spin, the Ghost Chili Margarita. Not quite as spicy as it sounds, and both are so yummy.
Go.
You'll love it.
Good food, hot to table. Great margaritas. Service was fast. Able to have a conversation!
We enjoyed our meal very much. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The food arrived promptly and was delicious! We were ordering small plates, so we made a couple of orders over time and everything was great. We arrived about 6:30ish and ate and paid in good time to make a play at 8 pm nearby. Will be recommending it to friends.
Wonderful innovative food, great range of tapas options, excellent photos.
Boston Marathon Preparation!!!
Our server, James, was wonderful. Very attentive. Gave good recommendations and reviews on various tapas options. The dishes we selected (party of 3) to share were just right. Crispy manchego, salmon ceviche, calamari, mini tacos. churros with chocolate sauce perfectly prepared. Looking forward to going back, lovely patio in the spring/summer.
the food was delicious but the service was aloof. I had said during the reservation that it was the birthday of two people in our party... I had to remind them multiple times, they kept asking whose birthday it was, and kept thinking that it was one person's birthday. Finally when they brought the dessert with two pathetic and half melted candles, they again asked whose birthday it was. Disappointing.
A good spot to grab a bite before meeting more folks for a show. I recommend.
Twelve dollars for a small bowl of salsa and chips. No refills.
Very limited menu.
Food was amazing an service was great. It was my first time at this restaurant and I will definitely be back. Tapas style dishes that were presented well and delicious.
The food and drinks were fantastic. The service was friendly and attentive. Tico is my go-to tapas/small-plates restaurant in Boston.
As is typical with that style of dining, expect that to get a full meal’s worth of food you’ll be buying 3+ dishes per person at about $15 per plate. When you add drinks, tip, and tax, it can be surprisingly expensive.
Still, it’s a great place for the right kind of night.
Don't miss the 2008 Don Melchor Cabernet on the wine list! Outstanding, perfectly cellared, totally delicious!
Great meal before a concert. The small plates make it easy to order as much or as little as you want. Everything was tasty, and the cocktails were great. We'll return!
We went to get a late lunch on Saturday and there seemed to be only one waiter who had about ten tables. The service was so slow and the margarita was awful so we left after eating our apps. We were really looking forward to the shishito peppers but they were so spicy we couldn't eat them. The waiter did, however, kindly remove them from our bill.
Maybe the dinner experience here would be better :-/
Delicious food and great ambiance
Attentive well cared for service from all and thoroughly enjoyed sharing many different dishes all great, full of authentic flavors and spiciness.
this is my go to place for all my business meetings! everyone loves mexican food there is a little bit of everything on the menu AND the best part is its a quite place its in an office building so tends to be very quite during the week especially at 1130am! The folks here are nice and professional they are also very quick and knowledgeable about them menu I will always recommend them!
Great food and cocktails and superb service. Will be back!
Family gathering
Been to Tico several times, lunch, drinks and dinner. Nice spot for us. Has a different menu and so that should be expected (and enjoyed). This lunch was great. It was a business lunch and the lunch special was excellent. Service was also great. We had tight time frame and the staff kept us right on time. Always enjoy attentive water servings. Really enjoy Tico.
We came here last minute since it was close to where we were headed one Saturday. Unfortunately, it missed the mark. Everything was way to salty and the place lacked an identity. They looked like they wanted to be a mexican tapas restaurant but didn't want to commit to it and it shown through the ambiance and the food quality. I'm surprised a place like this is surviving in such a good location. I would not recommend or return to TICO.
Good service, but it was way too noisy, and the food was really disappointing and overpriced. My beef tacos were absolutely tasteless, and despite ordering tons of mediocre appetizers, I was still hungry after leaving the restaurant because the portions were so tiny. I don’t have a huge appetite, so it’s rare that I leave a restaurant still feeling hungry. I will not be returning.
The food was amazing. Went on a date for valentines and tried a bunch if different items which were all outstanding. Very unique menu as well. I only wish they had a couple more vegetarian options, specifically in the main entree section but worth the trip!
This used to be my go-to place, so it pains me to write this. Service was bad, menu wasn't good, the chip and salsa are a joke, and it's clear by the amount of people not there on a Saturday night, it's gone down hill. There were only 1 or 2 things on the menu that looked good, and even the cocktails looked just okay. Margaritas were so-so. Not sure if the waitresses were covering a large area, but were not attentive. I used to take guests here every time I had visitors. Won't be going back.
It was a good meal, liked trying all the different tapas. The service was alright though. Waited a long time to order and receive the bill.
The burger lived up to it’s billing and the service was great. I enjoy sitting at the bar when I eat alone and the bar service was great!
I think the online presence of the restaurant is misleading. I came here for a date but the ambiance was not great. This is advertised as a tapas place but it felt more like an extended appetizer menu (if extended at all... the appetizer list still felt small). The kitchen was super bright and there was a cold draft that could only really be seen/felt if seated in the dining area. The food came out (and plates cleared) so quickly and abruptly that we felt rushed, and when asking simply yes/no questions we would get an extensive, overexplained non-answer. The wine was good and the food was delicious- however the food kept my date and I on the toilet for 24 hours after (not romantic at all of course). If anything, I'd recommend coming here for the bar- it was large and perfect for after dinner to split an app. But I will not take a date here again.
It was “just” fine. Nothing to remember but the value. I live in the neighborhood - I remember going once before and we decided it was expensive -
On Friday night I went out with some girl friends - we hadn’t made a reservation anywhere - Tico had tables . The bill was outrageous for corn dip and chips and some cheese things .
A “ no repeater” - there is a cool new place around the corner - Somethjng and Salt from the Buttermilk and Bourbon people -
Service was great though
Really nice tapas place. The bar was super crowded, abut the restaurant had plenty of room and we had a very nice meal with excellent service.
Always excellent
Loud music, spare and worn furniture, over wrought menu, average food preparation and presentation, average flavor profiles - feels like a concept at the end of its run.
Overall, we really liked this place, especially the very friendly bar staff. The only drawback was an issue with a broken pipe in the building that set off the fire alarm and warning lights in the restaurant. It went on for a while before any of the staff approached us to explain the situation. Although the pipe was out of their control, I think they should have been more proactive about informing the guests. The flashing lights and blaring alarm marred what was otherwise an enjoyable night out.
Given how empty the restaurant was, I was surprised how poor the service was. There were three different waiters that came to our table throughout the night, and at one point we had to get the hostess' attention to get service. I've been here many times in the past, and had not experienced service this poor. The food was good, but not great. Why dress up the oysters with toppings? Kind of ruins it for some people, especially as a group when people have different tastes.
Great service! Good music. Cost a bit high for size of portions. The special mule cocktail was delicious!
The service was cheerful, but it was over-priced and unimpressive.
The food was all tasty. All of the items seemed to be spicy, with one spicy ingredient or another, so that we had some difficulty finding things that our non-spicy-loving family members would enjoy. They graciously tried to make some of the items less spicy, but it was impossible to remove the jalapenos from everything, and some of the sauces were what was good about the item and they couldn't make it less spicy. Anyway, I would recommend somewhere else if you can't do spicy.
That said, if you like spicy -- and they weren't even THAT spicy -- all of the food was delicious!
Great margaritas, delicious small plates including roasted cauliflower and very attentive servers. Definitely fun evening!
Enjoyed the food, but they must do team table service because we couldn’t figure out who our server was and we waited around a lot for drinks and to get our tab. As I’m pregnant I had to flag people down to get water and the music was so loud it was hard to have a conversation. There was a party on the other side so perhaps it’s a bit quieter normally. A great place to go for an app and cocktail but not if you want to catch up with anyone.
The bar side of the restaurant was buzzing in a nice, not too noisy way. Our server was excellent. Everything from coctails to apprtizers and entree were distinctive and delicious!
Thank you Tico! This was a great place to grab drinks and a bite to eat after a long week.
