The 280 seat Midtown Manhattan location opened in 1997 at 481 8th Avenue (corner of 34th Street), across the street from Penn Station. Tick Tock Diner has long been known for its American comfort food. Tick Tock did not Rock! Our first New York reservation, and the frittata was greasy, over cooked and contained very few vegetables. Had to ask several times for water refills and coffee refills. The waitress was abrupt and unfriendly. Definitely would not recommend!

We visited with high expectations given all the reviews on various sites. Less than impressed. Didn’t need reservations..it was dead. Ordered simple grilled cheese sandwiches, one plate of Nutella pancakes. The pancakes were good. The grilled cheese was totally lacking in taste. Prices reasonable for what you get but wouldn’t go back. Service was good tho. Maybe after a concert or event at MSG across the street, you’d be hungry for anything or maybe only b’fast foods are their thing.

Lemon Ricotta pancakes didn’t look as pretty as the picture but we’re delicious. Coffee was good. Philly cheesesteak and egg sandwich was not shaved ribeye as stated but chunks of mostly chewy fat. Would not order again. Side of bacon was borderline rancid. Didn’t send anything back as I didn’t want to make a fuss so in all fairness I didn’t give them a chance to “make it right”. We left full and satisfied but not impressed. One more observation … the decorative clock on the wall didn’t work. C’mon… it’s the Tick Tock!!! Get a working clock!

It’s a nice enough little place but 2 out of 3 meals weren’t very nice at all. We had 3 meals, a soda and 4 beers and were $120 so I wouldn’t say it’s exactly cheap either. While one of us was still eating our main meals our server was asking to take desert orders :-/ it would be somewhere to go if there was no where else but I wouldn’t go out my way.

Great location as it’s right across from Madison Square Garden and attached to the New Yorker hotel. It’s a nostalgic experience and a good diner setting. Food was ok but the service wasn’t much. They are so busy it doesn’t matter much to them. Make a reservation.

This diner was located on the corner and very easy to find. It is also located in the same building as a hotel. The food wasn’t good. The server was very nice!

Sadly this wasn’t an amazing experience. Mostly, the lack of child’s menu was unhelpful for our family, and forced us to pay for an adult meal wand waste most of the plate. The service at midday was uncharacteristically unfriendly and abrupt for an NYC central restaurant. Portions and food quality were on par with any good diner, it was only the delivery of the service that truly let this down.
