Tick Tock Diner, an iconic symbol of the American diner with locations in both Midtown Manhattan and Clifton, New Jersey, has mastered the art of casual dining, providing customers with high quality ingredients, generous portions at a reasonable price and a comfortable, family-friendly atmosphere that keeps them coming back year after year.
The 280 seat Midtown Manhattan location opened in 1997 at 481 8th Avenue (corner of 34th Street), across the street from Penn Station. Tick Tock Diner has long been known for its American comfort food. Today, it remains true to tradition while offering more dining choices than ever before on its extensive menu, accented with Italian, Greek and Tex-Mex influences. Keeping in the diner tradition, breakfast is served all day, featuring more than a dozen omelets, farm fresh eggs any style, pancakes, Belgian waffles and French toast.

    Perfectly average food and service with a very extensive menu and New York prices. Our fish and chips and french toast were fine; the dry-as-hell Cuban sandwich would get laughed out of Miami.

    Always a fun place. Classic diner with a great location. Right next to Penn station. Food is plentiful and tasty. Staff is friendly. A go to restaurant when you’re on the go.

    Went for 7am breakfast, easy to get a seat but still took a while to get served. Lack of personality or warmth from any of the servers we came across, which is a shame because I imagine most tourists will visit this to experience an “American diner”. Witnessed a senior staff member being rude and unhelpful to a French tourist who needed help with the subway, seemed a shame that he couldn’t take a few seconds to help, when the place was half empty. Comfy seats, convenient location, food average.

    The staff were rude, the whole place is dated and the food was mediocre. There was hardly anyone in there, yet they squashed us between two families. The sweet potato chips were hard but my omelette was ok. I would not recommend this place, there are plenty of other lovely restaurants about.

    Such a shame. Food was rubbish, straight out of the freezer. If you expect something here, you most likely aren’t going to get it. Such a shame because the prices would suggest you are getting a normal meal… however it was terrible. The service though was ok, our lovely waitress was very kind and considerate and the bar staff all had smiles. However, for a very expensive dinner, and still tipping 20% this place is not worth it.
