Thyme Ratings and Reviews
Service was just a little short of what you would expect from a restaurant in this price range. Inconsistent attentiveness, poor wine service, etc. Not the first time at this restaurant. Seems to be a pattern. In short, service does not live up to the quality of the food. Therefore, takes away from the experience.
This is one of my favorite lunch restaurants. They have a prix fixe lunch that is incredibly reasonable. The food is consistently good and service is fine. The main room is warm and cozy and looks out on a pretty lake. There is also an upstairs room, however it has never been in use during the numerous times I have dined here. My first choice for lunch with a friend to celebrate a birthday! Definitely, a neighborhood gem!
We've eaten here three times and each time was delicious. My only gripe is the tables for two are on top of each other. Kind of difficult to have an intimate conversation with someone and also makes it difficult to sit down or get up without having to moving the table out. Aside from that, the food never disappoints.
We took advantage LI restaurant week to eat in one of our favorite places to go to for special occasions Unfortunately to participate you have to be seated before 6:30pm. Needless to say the place was jumping and quite noisy. If there weren’t the time constraint, which was not always the case, the atmosphere would have been at the usual pace. The other issue is that if the restaurant is participating the menu offerings should be at the fixed price of restaurant week without additional charge for some items. With that being said we did enjoy the food as always and the service was very good in spite of all the tables being full. We will return to Thyme, like the ambiance and consistent quality of the food. The butternut squash ravioli, shaved Brussels sprout salad and mussels were great. The short rib beef ragu, double pork chop and scallops with shrimp over risotto all excellent.
I had the price fixed lunch of lobster bisque ( delicious) and cavetelli ( very good). My partner had the hamburger with sweet potato fries which he enjoyed. We both had dessert. I had the apple torte (very good) and my partner had the strawberry shortcake ( very good). The lunch was a good value and we will be back when we are in the neighborhood. We also enjoyed the scenery of the pond and ducks while we dined.
I have eaten at Thyme before and enjoyed the experiences. However, this time, I had to send a filet mignon back twice and receive a tongue lashing from the manager about what a medium cooked steak was in “Thyme terms.” I was brought back a plate with half the amount of truffle fries and my steak turned over as though a new steak had been cooked. Still, this was not medium. The rest of the table guests had eaten and the table was cleaned off, ready for dessert when a new steak arrived. I’m not sure what was brought to me, but I’ve never gotten a filet cut before with fat and gristle. This was unacceptable to me so it was taken back. I was never offered a chance to order something else, nor was there an apology offered. Needless to say, there will be no return trip for me. A tip for Thyme management: the Ladies room was a mess. Maybe you should give that some attention.
The food was very good. We really enjoyed what we had..apps...beet salad, brussels sprout Caesar salad, warm baked brae. The mains were lamb chops, halibut and fettuccine with shrimp. Desserts strawberry shortcake and chocolate molten cake all delicious. My only criticism was the Maitre d' a bit rude and very cold.
this is one of my very favorite places ,have been here 5 times already and plan on going back again and again. Took some friends that had been there awhile back and they forgot how nice the place was and how good the food was that they are going to make sure they put this place on their list. They make the most outstanding soups ,have never been disappointed with any of them (although my favorite is the corn chowder) Whatever you order you are going to enjoy and your tasted buds will thank you for it .
Although the menu had changed (and not for the better) since the last time I was there, I still recommend this place because of the ambience. Service was good, there was a fire in the fireplace, and I got the table I wanted, looking out on the frozen pond in the middle of Roslyn. But the food was meh. The quiche of the day was very bland --with phyllo pastry instead of a traditional crust, plus it tasted like just egg-whites with little/no cheese -- and it was served right on top of the accompanying salad. Weird presentation.
I had been once before and enjoyed a dinner there. Went back for brunch and enjoyed. this time felt very rushed. Had just gotten to two sips of cocktail and asked three times if ready to order.
While two minutes into our meal, an attemptwas made to take the bread basket away.
The check was delivered without our asking for it. We were far from only ones left in the room We were in and out in less than 45 minutes..being that I was already home by then.
Don't offer a Holiday brunch if you are going to rush people out!
Went for holiday brunch date. Extremely busy which i guess is to be expected due to time of year. Cute town but only valet or street parking. Coffee was barely luke warm. No cream or milk offered initially when coffee was requested, had to ask and then wait for it which by then the coffee was even cooler. Food was also warm but not hot. Portion size small for price $28 for one entree coffee or tea and a brunch cocktail. Dessert extra. Brunch specials had an extra fee also. If you’re looking for a hearty brunch go elsewhere. Waiter was friendly but attentive at the wrong times.
Good food but overpriced and nickel and diming. My daughter asked for pineapple juice instead of orange juice or grapefruit and waiter told us it was not included only orange or grapefruit. I could understand if it was fresh squeezed but it was from a can or a carton and not sure why pineapple or any other canned juices were excluded. Included was a Bloody Mary or a Bellini so u would think canned pineapple too. For a brunch for $28 that pice of it was disappointing.
